- Holy Hell Blast, this could be the nicest guitar I have ever ever ever played.. I loves it I do! The awesome Ibanez RG652AHM, limited edition for american retailers in very short supply.
An ash body and birdseye maple neck, this thing looks stunning; add to this a kick ass DiMarzio Air Norton and Tone Zone and you have sonic nirvana! We as usual go through the pick-up tones clean and then with a little go juice, there will be a play through soon so come back and see us y'all.

@@PaulGlover I just got this guitar today and man is it beautiful. It plays and sounds awesome. I can't give it the nod over my 2004 Prestige RGT3020DSFM though. Sustain is the main difference but I was totally expecting that.

2 years ago When i was researching which Ibanez i wanted, I kept coming back to this video. You did a great job to paint the true picture. I couldn't find an RG652AHM to actually try, so it was not an easy decision.
I now know your sincerity about this guitar was real. I can't believe how much i love this guitar. Plays like a dream, and she's beautiful too!!. The RG652AHM-NGB is something special. Thank you....Thank you for being the final vote on my decision to purchase this guitar. Love it !

Man, the tones you are getting in these vids are just awesome. I'm a traditional guy who always favours the Fenders and Gibsons but I can hear how Ibanez are back in a big way (not that they went anywhere!), I'm seriously starting to rethink my rig. Great to meet you in person last weekend dude!

That tone on the bridge pickup pushed clean tho! I'm looking at the RG652MPB which I'm pretty sure is the same as this but with a burl top. Lovely guitar, it might be my next gear purchase and first Ibanez. Great playing btw!
Great Review. I just got this guitar a couple of days back after a 3 week wait. Your review was instrumental (pun intended) in my purchasing this guitar. :) Love the guitar man, what a versatile guitar. Love the Dimarzio Pickups. Much better sound/ quality than my Ibanez RG570 made in Japan one (with the stock V7-S1-V8 pickups). The RG570 will sadly get step motherly treatment now since this will be my main go to guitar for the future. Now I'll have to re-adjust all my patches on my Boss GT-001 for this guitar or create new ones for this guitar.

Hi Paul, your vid was about the tipper for me too, I got a lefty one. I also have the JEM7V lefty but I was happy to get another Ibanez for way less than the JEM was! Great instrument, just nothing quite like a really good RG!

Not a big metal player but that guitar is just killer. The humbucker in parallel tone stands out. Maybe they should have done the same trick with the bridge pick up as well. Great clip.
Mine came today courtesy of zzounds.com. The RG 652AHM is the best guitar Ive ever owned. I've had other high end guitars and for me this is it. Nothing better. Love the channel Paul. I own the Premium Sea Foam Green Jem as well. Great guitar too!
I finally pulled the trigger on this lovely in the white finish (I live in Canada and the white finish wasn’t available to the Canadian market for the longest time until last year) I also ordered the RG550 in neon purple and the RG5120M in polar lights. I’ve sold my Fender Ultra Strat and my Schecter Syn Custom for those 2. I’m full on Team Ibby now.

Been lucky to get this guitar almost as new. A guitarist sold it to me, because he disliked the thin wizard neck. Anyway, the sound is beautiful and its hardware.. incredible!

I couldn't get one of these so I opted for an RG655-FSO and it is just awesome. It's the best guitar I have ever bought. If Ibanez were to do a the equivalent of a Prestige RGR652M-FSO with KTS Titanium Reinforced Super Wizard HP neck I would call that my Signature Guitar \m/
i have had mine for about 6 months now and its by far the best guitar i ever played and i have owned them all about lol, its so smooth to play neck is fast on it and thin, light with a big sound i actually compared it to my les paul with my marshall dsl 20 amp same settings and i was getting a better warm tone out of it lol, thing rocks so fun to play it, if you can pick one up i highly recommend it

The 752 version is also really amazing. Nicest 7 I have played pickups not overly gainy (use pedals) so its not too dark.

Ordering mine Monday in the Antique white blonde as well..I just purchased an Iron Label series RGAIR6 in the flat black,its awesome too,has the stock real Dimarzio Fusion Edge pickups made for this line..awesome ! I am going to be back as an Ibanez player no doubt,they are putting out some fine guitars nowadays !

I have had mine for about three and a half weeks now. Found one open box on Musicians Friend, so that knocked a few dollars off the price.
I'm no pro like Paul here. In fact, up until purchasing the 652 I hadn't played guitar in seven years.
This instrument is just on another looks in terms of looks, but more importantly the tone is simply amazing. Paired with my 5150 III 2x12 and a few pedals in the loop. Pretty much impossible to get a bad sound out of the thing. If you can find one I would highly recommend this Ibanez.

Thats what my amp is,the EVH 5150-3 50 watt head with matching 2-12"..I figure that the treble and presence will have to be turned down quite a bit with the Maple neck.
Ross Krause I literally just bought an MXR Eq to deal with this myself. I can get some really beefy tones now, even at bedroom volume.

Any recommendations on pickup replacements on an ash body RG Paul? I'm thinking of swapping out the stock DiMarzio/IBZs on my RG2560, which is a stunning guitar, I just want a little more mojo from the pups ;)
The Ibanez's love the Tone Zone bridge and the Air Norton neck position pickups..just make sure you order "F" spaced if yours has the tremelo.
That sounds hectic brah !!! What type of tone does an ash body produce?? I mean how does it compare to basswood/alder/mahogany?? Thanx bro ;)
it's tighter and lighter. More top but clean not harsh. I hear more of my finger tone if that makes sense. I'm into it.

How does it compare to the Jackson pro Dinky 2 DK2MQ...
That one has similar colors, but alder body, seymour Duncan pups. Seems a bit more lively than the Ibanez, as far as TH-cam sound goes. Has anyone played both of them?

I bought one of these new in 2018 in the Antique White Blonde finish and like an idiot only kept it for 2 months... I finally decided to buy another new one 2 days ago..it should be here to me at my house tomorrow and I am patiently waiting haha for it..these are just incredible guitars at a great price..I won't sell this one for sure..my first one's neck was highly figured with incredible maple figuring on the entire fretboard and the rear neck itself..and it practically played itself..the 2 Dimarzio pickups sound great with the filtiest nastiest high gain you can get and also clean up nicely if and when needed.
I am primarily a Seymour Duncan pickup player but the Dimarzio bridge Tone Zone and neck slot Air Norton combination are hard to beat...the Ash body with the Maple neck and Prestige fret treatment make this just an awesome guitar...you can pay a lot more.which I do have more expensixe guitars but my new one I can tell already will be my favorite one.
The wait is killing me..it will arrive here by about 11am my time tomorrow ! Great Job Paul as always !

I have a Mexican made HSS strat, black body, rosewood fretboard, and white pick guard. A Dimarzio true velvet in the neck and a Seymour Duncan '59 in the bridge. Her name is Lydia. I really want to get an RG652FX in galaxy black. I'll probably end up getting an RG421RW for now though.

BaDDasst GuitaRist mate the premiums are amazing this year. the 1070 is one of the best guitars i have ever played. This guitar however is the one from the super wizard neck through to the clarity of the ask body and maple board. You do have a tough choice to make man lol. If i had the money id go with this but dont think the premium range is a lesser beast....its not.....just different.

What kind of amp is being used for this Ibanez
Its the Laney IRT 60watt head with a V30 loaded 4x12 cab mate. Effects coming from the helix floor by line 6. 🧟♂️

ive played this and its amazing, but i want to get the s prestige s5527qfx which is more expensive than this but do you think it feels as good? ive never played one but i have a regular s series already and i love it.. also there arent any videos of it.. any opinions?
They are light and thin. Definitely try one out before you buy. You can have preferences even between the same model of instrument.

Forgot to ask - what kind of oil did you use for the neck? It is safe to do so? I've never oiled a neck - totally uninitiated.
Its the d'addario lemon oil dude. I always use it. Keeps my guitars tip top 🧟♂️

@@burnsZY85 I've always been told absolutely not to use it on unfinished maple. It soaks into the wood and makes it go off colour.

You seem to have tried a lot of Ibanez guitars, JEM 77P or RG6PCMLTD if looks are not in consideration?

hey man, great video. I have the same guitar just with the fixed bridge instead of the trem. I was wondering if the fretboard is actually unfinished or finished, because I'm trying to find a good fretboard conditioner for the birdseye maple. It doesn't look like it's finished but I'm not a 100% sure. Any chance you can help me out with my question?
Finished with oils mate so no lacquer, i use daddario lemon oil and there cleaner. Works great . 🤟🧟♂️🤟 awesome axe!!!!!
@@PaulGloverso tbh the reason I didn't apply lemon oil to the fretboard yet is that I heard that it's not good for unfinished maple. They say you can use stuff like Music Nomads F one oil because it doesn't contain lemon oil. But you don't seem to have damaged your fretboard by using it obviously so I'm a bit confused right now haha :D

Hey Paul, i'm having a hard time choosing between the guitar you play in the video and RG652MPB which is mahogany instead of ash, everything else on the guitars is the same, no music shop nearby have them in stock so i can't try them and see for my self, i'd really appreciate it, if you could help me, have you tried RG652MPB??
Blueno i have mate and it feels very close, the sound is a little.......thicker? But i preferred the ash as it has a really transparent tone. Like you can really hear the wood. I love this guitar man. Hope this helps its a really hard decision as i havent played much of the other model.

I wish they sold these in the UK and it seems most places don't sell it at all now so that really sucks. I don't have near the money to afford a guitar like this yet but hopefully by the time I do I can find one of these or something else great.

MrFinGuitar If it was me, I would get the Floyd as I love the crazy stuff you can do with it and it doesn't seem to be as hard to maintain as people make out.
+Leejk Probably going to get one with a floyd since it has the original Edge. I have one ESP-LTD with a licensed floyd which I blocked with a piece of wood since the guitar was unable to stay in tune. Never wanted a gtr with a Schaller type of floyd since that,but the original Edge...that's a different thing. ;)
if there was a seven string version of this, it would kill all other seven strings guitars as well. does anyone know if Ibanez might have one like that?

After (un-successfully) harassing Paul to sell me his, I managed to get my paws on one! It arrived today and I've been playing it all night. There must only be a handful in the UK so I feel very privileged. I totally see why Paul wouldn't part with his. Compared to my 3250MZ which I love to bits, and is a quality bit of kit, the 652 is just something else....a whole new level. Easily the best Ibanez I've played, although I haven't tried a J Custom.

+Reuben Jones I got mine from a UK seller on E-bay, 'cotsguitars'. I was a little dubious at first as he didn't have much feedback, but the sale couldn't have been easier. I'm guessing he imported it just to sell on, as it was brand new. I'm thinking (and hoping) I've got the only one in Scotland! How easy was it to import? I'd like a J Custom to add to the collection.....
+MrGibspoon I imported mine from Ikebe Gakki, who were extremely helpful! They communicated promptly in good English and sent me extra photos of the guitar as I asked. Obviously, the import charges are quite a sting, but I fell in love with this guitar so I payed the price.

recently got the ibanez sir70fd (iron label) that has the air Norton and tone zone. got the end of line black finish for a lot under £400. it isn't this but as paul says a nice guitar is a nice guitar.

It depends really. The prestige line is far cheaper and more readily available then j custom, but the j customs are prettier and have better attention to detail. I have a prestige RGD2127z and it is the best 7 string I have played. It all depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to spend.

+Benjamin Pritchard RG Prestige. RG652AHM in nebula green. I have had mine for about a month, and I like it. The fret ends could use some dressing, but they aren't that bad: nothing like the guitars from China or Indonesia that I have seen.

Its treated with a velvitouch lacquer. Feels silky smooth and looks unfinished. Plays so well man.

One if the most versitile RGs I've ever played. Always been a fan of the Air Norton/Tone Zone combo platter but with ash and maple it just sings.
I got mine from Rich at Ibanez Rules U.S.A.. I love it. Is my first quality guitar and my first Ibby.
If you're going for it I seriously recommend you get it from him if you can. It is worth it and you pay about the same as big warehouse centers(Musician's Friend). I had returned 3 "good" guitars from Guitar Center the month before. Including an Ibanez RG because I'm that picky. I'm satisfied with this one and its setup.

great guitar player but the tone/sound at least on my Mackie speakers, is very shrill/nasally and pretty muddy/muffled notes. I'm speaking purely speaking tonal quality.
Yeahnthe Internet can do strange things to tone. Sounds massive warm and powerful as fooook in the reals. Thanks for stopping by though dude and thank you for your kind words. Check out other videos and see if the tone changes. 🤘🧟♂️🤘
