    you could just have the landing montage "root motion" and wouldn't have to do anything regarding input ;) Or have animation notification state that would disable and enable input base don start/end of it ;)
    but most importantly - why not use "EVENT ON LANDED" ? Its a character event dispatcher existing just for this?
    Edit: event landed runs right before landing so it saves the velocity from the frame you are still moving fast so no ned to save it :)

    Bro this tutorial was so clean I decided to tweak one thing because instructions were so clear, I felt like I can do my own thing. And it worked but after my character lands and does the animation, he can't move anymore. The reason why I tweaked the blueprint is because I want two different landing animations. A soft land, and a hard land.
    This is what I changed:
    At 3:27 , instead of "Less than" I put "Greater than." Because I want for example, -600 and greater to be the "soft" land & -601 and less to be the "Hard" land. I'm sure it has to do something with the "Disable Character Movement" event. I just don't know what to tweak. I'm not sure if you understand what I'm trying to ask but if you do I would truly appreciate a response. Thank you for the tutorial, you earned my like and subscribe.

    Hey Matt, thanks for this!! I'm not sure what is going on but I'm trying to run this with the fall to rolling animation and even though I've set root motion it still slides the character back to the original landing position. thoughts?

      Hey, no problem. That's strange, when you open the animation and enable root motion, does it still move in the animation viewport as well?

      Oh okay, you may need to delete your animation montage and recreate it again just so it updates with the root motion enabled

      @@MattAspland Tried that it didn't change anything... I'm stumped any reason it wouldn't work with the rolling animation? I was able to get it to work with the hard landing anim. Although I don't like the fact that his hands don't touch the ground.

      @@crimsontyrs Yeah I'm not too sure, that should be working. The hard landing animations hands won't be reaching the ground purely because of the animation itself, you may be able to find a better one though.

      That will just be because of the animation, if you get a different animation where the hands go down further it will work better for you :)

    All that hard work just to kill the player with fall damage...maybe ill just leave them looking at my beautiful super hero landing lol thanks!
    Little late to add to my final project as a student but glad to finally have it as part of my game regardless.

      Ha yeah this is definitely easier lol. I may do a fall damage tutorial in the future though. That's a shame this is too late to add, but yeah like you say, at least it's in your game. All the best of luck with your final project! :)

    hi, i want to turn off the preview watermarks, which i have done in ue4, however when im actually playing it as a game it comes up with the preview watermark. By any chance do you know how to fix this?

      Hey, yeah this just means you are using the preview lighting, all you need to do to get rid of these is build the lighting, this may mean afterwards you will need to mess about with the lighting again. But pressing the drop down menu next to build at the top of your screen and then pressing "Build Lighting Only" will remove these for you. Hope this helps. :)
