  • I want to show you how I configured the Canon EOS R8 for nature photography. This is about menu settings (especially autofocus), button assignment and more. These settings are primarily for wildlife photography (birds, mammals, dragonflies, ...) and also for landscape photography.

    Thank you. I just ordered an R8 today. I think I will be coming back to this video many times.

    Thank you so much. Very helpful in getting me started with my new R8. I was a bit lost.

    My setup is very similar but I have all of the tracking and eye detection on my front shutter button and the single point AF without tracking on the AF on button. That way most of the time I'm enjoying the excellent tracking and eye detection of the R8 without having to think about an extra button. The back button will override the front button's settings so I don't have to disable it. Thanks for all of the useful information and another very good video as always!

      Good point! I think since I use mostly my R5, I prefer to easier move the focus point around if I don’t need to press the AF-On button for single point af

    Thanks. The AF functionality is filled with mystery. There is no clear description from Canon regarding the hierarchy or how one mode overrides another when. Where you show how to map the AF button to “switch to registered AF mode” for instance I have found I can get the exact same options also under “AF” - just press info and you can also define and select there. On my R7 I have three AF modes mapped to the shutter, AF and * buttons like that. Every user seems to have their own interpretation of how this flexible system seems to work, but I think we all are guessing.

    Hi Fabian, Good video! For Canon white lens, do you use Mode 1, 2 or 3 for the stabilization?

    • @FabianFoppNaturephotography
      @FabianFoppNaturephotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      95% of the time Mode 1

      @@FabianFoppNaturephotography Thanks for the reply. Have you tried mode 3? I do pet photography and I have been curious about it. Everything I read says Mode 3 is better for moving subjects.

    hello !!! congratulations! your work is wonderful! I follow you and I love your photos and videos so much. I have the R7 and the EF 16-35 f4 L lens, but I’m so far from achieving your results. I’m considering buying a full frame, but my budget doesn’t allow for an R5. I’m giving away the RP and the R8. Could you help me with this choice?
    Thank you very much

      I assume you are doing landscapes? What’s the issue with the R7?

    • @rscampos100
      @rscampos100 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use two lenses: ef 16-35mm f4 L and RF 24-105mm f4 L. I'm not getting clear landscape photos with depth of field, at f11, f16 and photos of trees are not sharp. That's why I think about umq FF.
      I'm going to visit the canios in Arizona and I'm unsure about taking the photos
      thanks

    I bought the R8 but it came with a sensor edge only on one side, about 4mm of edge, will I have a problem because of that?

    Don’t expect similar results unless you have RF 600mm F4 cannon 😂
