I was just thinking the same thing.
For a TEDx talk it's really not received much coverage.
This is definitely "an idea worth spreading" in today's political climate.
Probably even more relevant today than just the short year ago when this talk was held..

Because reconciliation involves giving back to the other and the 2 sides absolutely hate each other

Great Lecture Indeed. We have grown so fixed on Competition from Sports to Politics, trying to gain personal momentum to benefit self. Its not a Matter of Democratic Vs. Republican but it's more so American Vs. American. Adam is Absolutely Right and I agree with Jonathan Haidt as well. If we can take time to listen to Both Sides of the Story, Much like the equivalent of a Supreme Court Judge listening to the Plaintiff and the Defendant, Listening to Both cases and developing an idea to reach a middle crown so that both sides can be put at ease.

It is September 2020 and I'm fairly confident this is the most important video on TH-cam right now but somehow it has almost no views at all. This needs to change.

The speaker didn't recommend Political Reform for HIS institution which is Sorely needed. He just wants YOU to do all the changing. Not very constructive.

I'm not sure this country can exist with 2 polar opposite parties. The division didn't happen in the recent years but came more to light. I watched a presidential debate 20 years ago and I was surprised I heard both candidates and they both sounded...well more reasonable than I see today. My opinion is more towards the 1960s we saw a split and it got more gradual over the years. Throughout our history, both of the 2 political parties had their differences, but not to the extent in our country's recent history from the 1960s to present here today it's never been this divided.

To be perfectly honest, I think it's a bit late for this.

Agreed. We need wholesale reform of our Political system. Politicians are rewarded with a 90% reelection rate for using Divisive Tactics.

Thank you, Father GOD, for the help that only you provide. I pray, LORD, we find solace and the ability to get past the feelings of anger and distrust that seems to be plaguing AMERICA. I pray for something positive, LORD, that we can focus on and that better days are yet to come. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.

We need to figure out a way to work this country. Both parties are just broken and do not care about us, only arguing with each other . Nothing is ever accomplished

solution : cut all the news channels . they are the ones who are widening the gap by perpetuating bloated negativity and dissent among the people .

You'd need to abolish the First Amendment. Unrealistic. But you can give the Lawmakers a one and done 8 year term with NO possibility for reelection. Then the Cable News Networks would be out of business for 7 years waiting for the next Divisive campaign. 🤣🤣

How do I hold my tongue when I encounter an idea with a proven outcome for tragedy? I would like to hear Jordan Peterson and /or Sam Harris address this.

Do individuals or groups have a right to hold a grudge? Even in a power imbalance? This seems wrong, but I /we need to think differently. I'm not gullible, the path we are on now does not look good. Are we just 150 years behind Spain?

I say give Dems a section cons their own section and Trump supporters their section and see which is really better.
Except Trump and cons NEED poor people to make them who they are!

"When my information changes, I alter my conclusions.," I don't think you should close yourself of to it like that.
