I've been opening feed bags for nigh on 40 year, and up until I watched this tutorial...I struggled to open them - the cursing!. Horse feed, dog feed, chicken feed, goat feed, sheep feed, etc. I've asked how - I'm not shy, but no method ever took. I think someone aught to do an investigation into why feed mills use this nightmarish method of closing feed bags. Thank you Scot Gardner for sharing this simple wisdom - you have made a huge improvement in the mental health of many in agriculture!

Thanks so much for tase excellent instructions - just went out and opened the bird food sac and it works a treat!!! Grappled with this for years and years and always used to end up cutting them. I hope now to find somewhere to recycle / reuse the bags instead of them ending up in landfill. Thanks again.

These bags can be used to grow trees. Use the bags to generate compost. Fill it up with all organic matter like leaves, veggie peels, egg shells, tea bags, anything left over inb the kitchen. Once full, keep the bag aside for a few months till entire content has been broken down by microbes. Plant a sapling in it and watch how well the trees springs up. You can dig up the sac for the tree to grow its roots deep. Very soon you will be a proud father of a rainforest.

Just as a heads up guys, after cutting the string on the right side make sure to pull the string on both sides evenly so they unravel at the same time and at the same pace, otherwise it will get stuck until you even it out again
