  • Scanning analog photography is the only piece of the analog puzzle I have difficulty embracing. Here is my process with large format, 4x5 negatives on an Epson V800 scanner. Am I wrong to whine?

Good stuff, I also shoot with a 4x5 Chamonix and digi scan my negatives with my Fuji X-Pro3 using my 80mm Macro lens, I still find fun in seeing the negative come alive in PS or Lightroom. 👍🏼👍🏼

An option is to get a laminar flow hood and put scanner in hood and handle negatives in the hood, the hood blows HEPA filtered air out so you have a very clean area to work. Expensive but maybe an option. You can DIY a hood but the filter must be purchased commercially.

This is just a thought, you might want to investigate alternate methods of scanning which may help your work flow. have a look at Kyle McDougall's numerous videos on film scanning, it may assist you with looking at alternatives. Like most of the people here watching TH-cam we are all looking for ways to improve on our skills, me included because I'm just a happy hobbyist looking to improve my journey with photography. I used to use a flat bed scanner and it frustrated me to no end, so now I use a digital camera to scan my film.

No tips or tricks but yeah! For 135mm I like to to some kind of scan and edit to see if it's even worth printing, because is it worth printing all 36 frames? Why do a contact sheet and get 35 garbage proofs? It's good to see what like at least
