@@papafaya3478 all the cool bosses are usually not in progression like queen bee, queen slime, eol, and Duke fishron. I guess they have to make optional bosses cooler to give you a reason to fight, and the drops from optional bosses are so good that they are almost part of progression.

Getting the mechanical eye summons seems like a good idea, bc they have a ranged attack. But less dps I suppose? Has been a while since I played Terraria
Didn't use it because the ravens were more effective even if slightly more dumb. As for the drop rate, 20% may not seem rare, but it's from 1 of 3 enemies you have 1/3 (or 1/6 without Chum Caster) chance to catch, which already boils down to 2% drop. Not to mention having to clean other enemies
In some miraculous spectacle of luck, dazed, barely cognizant of my actions, I fought this boss just as the sun rose, and managed to accidentally defeat it without realizing a single hit would kill me. It only occurred to me that something special had happened when I got the Terraprism, a weapon I had never heard of, and read the tooltip. I then proceeded to die to two unicorns and a pixie.
Of course I’m playing a Master Mode world with four others and I’m the poor guy who has to dodge the hits from that boss. I need the Terraprisma too for my setup. This is not going to be fun. :( Thanks for showing me the patterns though, it’s going to help.
I was in a similar situation as you. Here are some tips: for mobility I used the shrimpy truffle for infinite flight and the rod of discord if you have it, otherwise it helps to fall damage yourself to near death to ensure you always have the truffle boosted. for farming lacewings what I have found is easiest is to flatten an area in the hallow and place a water candle on the surface before flying up to being just able to see the surface with binoculars. With this method I was able to get about 5-8 lacewings per night which helped with grinding significantly. For dealing with the issue of summon agroe in the second phase the sanguine bats ai is much more reliable than most other summons while still dealing considerable damage. I would also recommend avoiding the use of a whip in the fight as they force you into too close range and I found it much easier and safer to simply use a ranger weapon such as the chaingun using chlorophyte bullets to supplement your summons damage while avoiding having to put yourself in danger to attack. As for armour it is a choice between spooky and hallowed, where hallowed will increase your margin for error and spooky increases your damage output and allows you to end the fight faster. As for accessories the master ninja gear is helpful but optional with its dodge chance and the boosted shrimpy truffle makes movement accessories unnecessary and the nature of the fight procludes defence it is best to simply maximise damage over all else the celestial accessories are excellent for this as well as the summon accessories from the pumpkin moon while ensuring all reforges are for increased damage. Hope at least some of this helps. :)
The fight is absolutely not balanced for more than 1 individual if you're playing on masters with classes. (Especially if trying to get the Terraprisma). She goes all around the place way too much and her abilities reach the entirety of your screen , your allies WILL run into her attacks simply because the person who she is focusing is the only one who will be able to read them properly. Also if you are the group summoner, you are more or less the second person who has to take charge in kiting because your summons won't be able to do anything without you kiting her around. Just some advice from someone who completed masters mode as a melee guy with a summoner friend.
I think that although empress of light fight normally opens up pre-golem, the day fight feels like it's post golem in the same sense as how duke fishron is post plantera even if he is available from the start of hardmode. What I did was use the ufo summons
Very true, there are also a ton of post golem items that are very nice for the empress fight, and if you can beat plantera, you can usually easily beat golem
@@CrabBar The best thing about rod of discord is that you can, and should, spam it to dodge (you don't need the HP anyway) and get to low life because it will proc the speed and damage bonus from the Cute Fishron mount, which made the fight so incredibly easy for me.
@@juuuuuuug01 Actually, I did try to spam the Rod during the fight. If you spam it too much, you might end up too far from the boss and 2 things will happen: 1.) She'll teleport on your player directly and causing you to instantly die. 2.) She might despawn if you teleport out the hallow.
@@kphoenix137 The only problem there is this fight was designed for post plantera, so most players coming back in a new playthrough are probably doing the bosses in order.

I feel that intro deep in my soul. it took me over 3 hours to do as pure summoner. I did it with the witch's broom and stacked as much summon damage as possible with xeno staff and spooky armor.

I still haven't managed to get any of my friends together for long enough for us to get to Hardmode, and I've been too busy to get to Hardmode Solo, but man, this fight looks so much fun. Unironically. I love bullet hells.
2 of my friends and i spent 80 hours before we got to hard mode, most of it was preparing our accessories and blocking off corruption and such One of us is new to the game so we did a lot of fishing while he learned
Started binging your content recently. Your stuff has so much personality and life despite your lack of any human qualities of that makes sense. As in we don't know your name, voice, or face but you seem really nice and have a specific personality through your editing and video types.
Tip: Save slots by using Queen Slime instead of movement accessories, shortens the fight by the damage bonus, roughly. S.D.M.G. with luminite bullets and vortex armor along with the appropriate damage accessories is how I beat her for the first time during day. DELETES her.
Tbh when I was grinding for Terraprisma doing a sumnoner playthrough I beat nighttime Empress first for the Insignia. Made the fight infinitely easier.
I did this in my Master Mode Summoner Run with Sanguine staff, took me over 200 tries over 5 days. Not all of them were daytime however, since I was doing fights 24/7 with 2 sets for both Daytime and Nighttime empress. Ended up beating her 2 twice with the nighttime sets for Kaleidoscope and Empress Wings and a 3rd time with the Daytime sets for daytime practice during night. Then it took me a few more days to complete the full fight. Def worth it, 10/10 experience.
My strategy on the third/multilaser attack one is what I'ma call the Sans sidestep-- full stop for a second until you see yourself basically surrounded by an asterisk of lasers, then dodge left, full-stop again for about the same amount of time, and then dodge right to where you see a small empty diamond.
Of course, if you had proper experience as a summoner, you would know that Raven Staff is not good for these kind of bosses and would instead wait to get the Xeno Staff after fighting Golem, or use the Sanguine Staff, but you get an A+ for effort and dedication, I really enjoyed the video, and I applaud you for doing this with a Raven Staff, even if it wasn't the best option available
The limited summon aggro range is the reason I got my terraprisma using ranged weapons instead of my whip with my summons (also to ease things of even further I went to get it after defeating the moon lord) You made an impressive performance well done ! :)
Holy hell, I never thought about using the amphibean boots. I kept using wings + terrasparks + frog gear because that's what I've been using since pre-HM and I love the mobility it offers me. I wanted to use the master ninja gear too but oof, giving up four accessory slots just for mobility (and a 10% dodge chance) hardly leaves room for anything else, especially outside of master mode. Replacing both the terrasparks and frog gear with amphibean boots frees up one slot while keeping the most important mobility features of both items (fast running and wing ascent speed). The only thing you might miss are the 0.7 seconds of flight time that the rocket boots add to your wings. I always thought of the amphibean boots as some weird, inferior alternative to the frog gear in early pre-HM for people who don't have terrasparks yet. Never thought they'd have a niche in HM, gonna update my build next time I play.
Done the fight as pure summoner just 2 days ago, on Master Mode. Morning Star + Xeno Staff made the fight pretty quick, yet still very hard due to the recent 1.4.4 nerfs to Brain of Confusion, Master Ninja Gear and Hallowed Armor (you can no longer dodge Empress Daylight attacks). After the nerfs to the dodge items, getting a Rod of Discord is almost essential. But it makes the fight 100 times easier, as the only thing you have to watch for is not Rodding yourself to death, but you don't really care how much you damage yourself. Meanwhile, your minions just do passive damage. My loadout: Tiki Armor Menacing: Soaring Insignia, Fishron Wings, Summoner's Emblem, Pygmy Necklace, Papyrus Scarab, Mechanical Glove and Master Ninja Gear (for dashing during phase 1) Legendary Morning Star, Ruthless Xeno Staff Flask of Ichor Rod of Discord The fight took me 15 times to kill her during the night (For Soaring Insignia), then another 70 tries to kill her during Day Light without Rod of Discord, without success. Once I got Rod of Discord, I downed her in another 2 tries. If I had to do this fight pre-Golem, I'd use Sanguine Staff, as it's much better than Raven Staff. And I already had Sanguine Staff, I got it even before the Mechanical Bosses. Nowadays, the drop chance is 100 % on Mastermode, so it's just about actually catching the Dreadnautilus and killing it (I didn't cheese the fight, so it took me a few tries) The loadout I had, + Sanguine Staff, did around 1200 DPS consistently on Empress. Less in the first, easier stage, but twice more than Raven Staff during the second, harder stage. If I swapped Sanguine for Xeno (post-Golem), I had around 2k dps consistently.
sanguine staff > raven staff for empress - longer aggro range. Or UFO event staff (can't remember the name, sorry) if you're post-golem. Also fishron wings ascend faster, and queen slime mount is useful for quickly descending. Also don't forget durendal and/or firecracker to stack whip damage.
I spent two whole days (after farming for butterflies) attempting this boss, sanguine staff and terrablade (when she’s moving) or influx waver (when she’s static higher dps) it’s a hard fight but once you know the patterns you’re fine Also just remembered for movement you use EoL wings and slime saddle for vertical movement and ninja gear for horizontal, rod of discord is great and the titanium set for that invincibility (also brain of cthulu but I didn’t use it)
I can understand the use of the wacky hat, obviously the most powerful item in Terraria, no questions asked! but why you don't use witches broom? Witches broom is from pumpkin moon right? isn't that pre-Golem? what are you, a masochist? I liked and subscribed by the way, love your stuff!
I did this in master mode. Took like 150 tries. The key to it is to save the drop down move for that exact moment when she casts ethereal lances followed by an immediate everlasting rainbow. Every other attack of her can be dodged by moving up/down/circling/dashing on the top platform. If you waste your drop down before that, it will be hard to get up again due to her ridiculous attack rate.
A technique I saw from Ningishu is the xeno staff+Sharknado staff, Sharknado for the fist half of the fight and Xeno for the second half. And I mean hey he beat it on hardcore without wings so I'd say it's probably good
The best summon for EoL is actually the sanguine staff, you can also use the obsidian armor if you really know how to dodge eol for crazy high dmg. Rod of discord too does help tbh
This fight is made a lot easier by buffing attack speed rather than minion slots, and then using blade staff or sanguine, and obsidian armor, dark harvest and durandal and kaleidoscope. Consistent minion damage, and insane attack speed from the kaleidoscope as long as you remember to strike it with the dark harvest and durandal every 2 seconds.
this is so much easier to do with blade staff/sanguine staff, if youre using blade staff however its important to have golden shower and a good summon tag whip ravens just dont sit on the boss near enough, also brain of confusion stacks with hallowed armor + masters ninja gear
my start for when i did mastermode eol daytime was to go for survivability. i had the brain of confusion, master ninja gear, hallowed armor, fishron wings, papyrus scarab, necromatic scroll, terraspark boots and pygmy necklace. i had a rod of discord and a kaleidoscope. i used the sanguine staff for its range. for potions i used literally everything and a flask of ichor as well as ale for the tipsy debuff since defence doesnt matter. everythign was menacing and i just focused on dodging and only hit it when the ichor ran out. it took longer than most strategies but it only took 11 attempts of daytime
Honestly it wasn’t that bad for me. I used Ichor flasks on the whip for a debuff, and also the infinite flight item that EOL drops normally. If possible I would also suggest fighting the celestial pillars first for the stardust dragon, and if you’re capable, killing moon lord to get the stardust armor and then you can shred her with the armor summon + the damage buffs you get from the set bonus
I hear the Blade Staff is actually really good cause even if it has low damage, it does it really consistently and ignores 25 defense. Combine that with Ichor and the Kaleidoscope (cause you really should have practiced enough with EOL to get it) and you'll probably have a much easier time killing Empress of Light. Also try the Shark Tooth/Stinger Necklace to basically negate the EOL's defense entirely.
I just did a summoner play through and killed EoL daytime with the XenoStaff and every accessory set to Menacing along with spooky wood armour and the Kaleidoscope (Howtospell) with fishron wings.
We're lucky that a no hit enraged form(with a reward) wasn't added to a boss like duke fishron. The reason why I think having it be for the EOL is more fair is because of how she attacks. Most of them either give a warning, or are really slow. Plus, EOL almost always has a few second delay between attacks.
How I beat enraged EOL with summoner is using a hyper-dodge build. I used hallowed armor with the black belt and the brain of confusion to maximize the chance of avoiding the insta-kill damage. For weapons I combined durendal with the blade staff and I managed to beat her in about 2-3 minutes with a flask of Ichor
moon lord: i'm the hardest boss! empress of light: no, i'm the hardest boss! ???: amateurs empress of light: what was that, punk? dungeon guardian: *amateurs*
the hallowed biome i got was 10 blocks long because it was in between a corruption biome and an ice biome, i think the lacewings can only spawn in pure hallowed, so the hardest part of the fight for me is actually summoning the EoL
Look, dashing isn't as essential as you think. Just fight empress at night first, and use the insignia as your mobility accessory, instead of the ninja gear. Helps a TON.
Deadly Sphere/Sanguine/Optic Staves are way more accurate or have higher range, plus, you should really also use Brain of Confusion, its dodge procs a lot. Then if you're lucky, Rod of Discord is a literal game changer on this fight. Anyway, remember that whips are not the only choices for summoners, especially if your minions can't hit consistently, Scourge of the Corruptor or even better, a Flairon, can deal good damage to her even without melee bonuses.
I'd only agree with Sanguine on minion choice, since that's pretty insane minion all around. Deadly Spheres have *atrocious* aggro range, and Optic is overall lagging behind.

I feel that intro deep in my soul. it took me over 3 hours to do as pure summoner. I did it with the witch's broom and stacked as much summon damage as possible with xeno staff and spooky armor.

2 of my friends and i spent 80 hours before we got to hard mode, most of it was preparing our accessories and blocking off corruption and such

S.D.M.G. with luminite bullets and vortex armor along with the appropriate damage accessories is how I beat her for the first time during day. DELETES her.
Tbh when I was grinding for Terraprisma doing a sumnoner playthrough I beat nighttime Empress first for the Insignia. Made the fight infinitely easier.

If not me heavily spoiling myself with 10h playthrough video, would have played it honestly. Still quite a blast of indie game
I did this in my Master Mode Summoner Run with Sanguine staff, took me over 200 tries over 5 days. Not all of them were daytime however, since I was doing fights 24/7 with 2 sets for both Daytime and Nighttime empress. Ended up beating her 2 twice with the nighttime sets for Kaleidoscope and Empress Wings and a 3rd time with the Daytime sets for daytime practice during night. Then it took me a few more days to complete the full fight. Def worth it, 10/10 experience.

My strategy on the third/multilaser attack one is what I'ma call the Sans sidestep-- full stop for a second until you see yourself basically surrounded by an asterisk of lasers, then dodge left, full-stop again for about the same amount of time, and then dodge right to where you see a small empty diamond.

Fighting Empress of Light in daytime let me felt that I was playing Touhou.
Of course, if you had proper experience as a summoner, you would know that Raven Staff is not good for these kind of bosses and would instead wait to get the Xeno Staff after fighting Golem, or use the Sanguine Staff, but you get an A+ for effort and dedication, I really enjoyed the video, and I applaud you for doing this with a Raven Staff, even if it wasn't the best option available
The limited summon aggro range is the reason I got my terraprisma using ranged weapons instead of my whip with my summons (also to ease things of even further I went to get it after defeating the moon lord) You made an impressive performance well done ! :)

Holy hell, I never thought about using the amphibean boots. I kept using wings + terrasparks + frog gear because that's what I've been using since pre-HM and I love the mobility it offers me. I wanted to use the master ninja gear too but oof, giving up four accessory slots just for mobility (and a 10% dodge chance) hardly leaves room for anything else, especially outside of master mode. Replacing both the terrasparks and frog gear with amphibean boots frees up one slot while keeping the most important mobility features of both items (fast running and wing ascent speed). The only thing you might miss are the 0.7 seconds of flight time that the rocket boots add to your wings.
I always thought of the amphibean boots as some weird, inferior alternative to the frog gear in early pre-HM for people who don't have terrasparks yet. Never thought they'd have a niche in HM, gonna update my build next time I play.

Done the fight as pure summoner just 2 days ago, on Master Mode. Morning Star + Xeno Staff made the fight pretty quick, yet still very hard due to the recent 1.4.4 nerfs to Brain of Confusion, Master Ninja Gear and Hallowed Armor (you can no longer dodge Empress Daylight attacks).
After the nerfs to the dodge items, getting a Rod of Discord is almost essential. But it makes the fight 100 times easier, as the only thing you have to watch for is not Rodding yourself to death, but you don't really care how much you damage yourself. Meanwhile, your minions just do passive damage.
My loadout:
Tiki Armor
Menacing: Soaring Insignia, Fishron Wings, Summoner's Emblem, Pygmy Necklace, Papyrus Scarab, Mechanical Glove and Master Ninja Gear (for dashing during phase 1)
Legendary Morning Star, Ruthless Xeno Staff
Flask of Ichor
Rod of Discord
The fight took me 15 times to kill her during the night (For Soaring Insignia), then another 70 tries to kill her during Day Light without Rod of Discord, without success. Once I got Rod of Discord, I downed her in another 2 tries.
If I had to do this fight pre-Golem, I'd use Sanguine Staff, as it's much better than Raven Staff. And I already had Sanguine Staff, I got it even before the Mechanical Bosses. Nowadays, the drop chance is 100 % on Mastermode, so it's just about actually catching the Dreadnautilus and killing it (I didn't cheese the fight, so it took me a few tries)
The loadout I had, + Sanguine Staff, did around 1200 DPS consistently on Empress. Less in the first, easier stage, but twice more than Raven Staff during the second, harder stage. If I swapped Sanguine for Xeno (post-Golem), I had around 2k dps consistently.
The most painful part of the battle is not even in the battle, it is catching the lacewings

sanguine staff > raven staff for empress - longer aggro range. Or UFO event staff (can't remember the name, sorry) if you're post-golem.
Also fishron wings ascend faster, and queen slime mount is useful for quickly descending.
Also don't forget durendal and/or firecracker to stack whip damage.
I did like 50ish of those in the day in Master mode with post Golem gears just to prove to my friends that i am superior to them.

I spent two whole days (after farming for butterflies) attempting this boss, sanguine staff and terrablade (when she’s moving) or influx waver (when she’s static higher dps) it’s a hard fight but once you know the patterns you’re fine
Also just remembered for movement you use EoL wings and slime saddle for vertical movement and ninja gear for horizontal, rod of discord is great and the titanium set for that invincibility (also brain of cthulu but I didn’t use it)
What music were you using during the successful fight? (1:27 onwards) … Sounds beautiful

I did this in master mode. Took like 150 tries. The key to it is to save the drop down move for that exact moment when she casts ethereal lances followed by an immediate everlasting rainbow. Every other attack of her can be dodged by moving up/down/circling/dashing on the top platform. If you waste your drop down before that, it will be hard to get up again due to her ridiculous attack rate.

A technique I saw from Ningishu is the xeno staff+Sharknado staff, Sharknado for the fist half of the fight and Xeno for the second half. And I mean hey he beat it on hardcore without wings so I'd say it's probably good
The best summon for EoL is actually the sanguine staff, you can also use the obsidian armor if you really know how to dodge eol for crazy high dmg. Rod of discord too does help tbh
This fight is made a lot easier by buffing attack speed rather than minion slots, and then using blade staff or sanguine, and obsidian armor, dark harvest and durandal and kaleidoscope. Consistent minion damage, and insane attack speed from the kaleidoscope as long as you remember to strike it with the dark harvest and durandal every 2 seconds.
this fight will destroy your mind but then, the feeling of getting terraprisma is priceless

this is so much easier to do with blade staff/sanguine staff, if youre using blade staff however its important to have golden shower and a good summon tag whip ravens just dont sit on the boss near enough, also brain of confusion stacks with hallowed armor + masters ninja gear
my start for when i did mastermode eol daytime was to go for survivability. i had the brain of confusion, master ninja gear, hallowed armor, fishron wings, papyrus scarab, necromatic scroll, terraspark boots and pygmy necklace. i had a rod of discord and a kaleidoscope. i used the sanguine staff for its range. for potions i used literally everything and a flask of ichor as well as ale for the tipsy debuff since defence doesnt matter. everythign was menacing and i just focused on dodging and only hit it when the ichor ran out. it took longer than most strategies but it only took 11 attempts of daytime
I just used a very long minecart track and zenith but this is simply cooler. Congrats!

Honestly it wasn’t that bad for me. I used Ichor flasks on the whip for a debuff, and also the infinite flight item that EOL drops normally. If possible I would also suggest fighting the celestial pillars first for the stardust dragon, and if you’re capable, killing moon lord to get the stardust armor and then you can shred her with the armor summon + the damage buffs you get from the set bonus
Now, what did we learn?

I hear the Blade Staff is actually really good cause even if it has low damage, it does it really consistently and ignores 25 defense. Combine that with Ichor and the Kaleidoscope (cause you really should have practiced enough with EOL to get it) and you'll probably have a much easier time killing Empress of Light. Also try the Shark Tooth/Stinger Necklace to basically negate the EOL's defense entirely.

I just did a summoner play through and killed EoL daytime with the XenoStaff and every accessory set to Menacing along with spooky wood armour and the Kaleidoscope (Howtospell) with fishron wings.
We're lucky that a no hit enraged form(with a reward) wasn't added to a boss like duke fishron. The reason why I think having it be for the EOL is more fair is because of how she attacks. Most of them either give a warning, or are really slow. Plus, EOL almost always has a few second delay between attacks.
How I beat enraged EOL with summoner is using a hyper-dodge build. I used hallowed armor with the black belt and the brain of confusion to maximize the chance of avoiding the insta-kill damage. For weapons I combined durendal with the blade staff and I managed to beat her in about 2-3 minutes with a flask of Ichor

the hallowed biome i got was 10 blocks long because it was in between a corruption biome and an ice biome, i think the lacewings can only spawn in pure hallowed, so the hardest part of the fight for me is actually summoning the EoL

Look, dashing isn't as essential as you think. Just fight empress at night first, and use the insignia as your mobility accessory, instead of the ninja gear. Helps a TON.

Deadly Sphere/Sanguine/Optic Staves are way more accurate or have higher range, plus, you should really also use Brain of Confusion, its dodge procs a lot. Then if you're lucky, Rod of Discord is a literal game changer on this fight.
Anyway, remember that whips are not the only choices for summoners, especially if your minions can't hit consistently, Scourge of the Corruptor or even better, a Flairon, can deal good damage to her even without melee bonuses.
I'd only agree with Sanguine on minion choice, since that's pretty insane minion all around. Deadly Spheres have *atrocious* aggro range, and Optic is overall lagging behind.
