Mahaweli maha seya is a recently built stupa located in kothmale,Sri lanka.This stupa was built for commemoration of submerged temples and the peopel who lost their properties as a consequence of the Mahaweli development programme.It is an idea of former Mahaweli development minister in Sri lanka Mr. Gamini dissanayake.
The construction of this stupa was commenced in 1983.The stupa is about 88 meters tall.and It is built on 32 concrete pillars.
