I agree, now they and the UK are spending yet more on nuclear weapons, as if that's what the world needs. It's a brain washed society that thinks that violence is the solution to the world's ills, when truly it's the solution to none, but the primary problem of many.

    • @tron3420

@Ryo Era Of Change unfortunately I don’t think that is a viable option. I suppose if you had the capital and ability to purchase land remotely you could “live off grid”. But realistically that’s just not the answer for a laundry list of reasons but a major factor is that this is a global event, and living away is just putting off the problem imo.
In the prepper community a main tenant is that “bugging out” should be a last resort option. Your best option is always to stay in your main shelter where most of your supplies are. That same logic would apply here.
That’s not to say if you live in a city you shouldn’t look into buying land and a home in a smaller town, finding a community of like minded people and do it that way. But we need to stay here and fight this together, we are strength and numbers and should stand our ground. That’s my take anyway.

I used to be part of a buying club called SHARE. We pooled our money each week to get discounts on bulk purchases. We had a small warehouse with a walk-in refrigerator. And we rented a truck to go get the food each month. Each member donated some volunteer time to make it work. This was how I was able to make ends meet for our small family for several years. They had a small childcare area for when I was volunteering. I met some of the nicest people there.

I am a gray haired grandma in my 60's!! I do still work full time, and thankful I can. But younger folks need to try and grow a few things on the side, to help themselves. People give it a thumbs down because this is a state sponsored channel of the Chinese government. Also America doesn't have a good shortage there's actually tons of food being wasted because the supply chain can't get it on shelves.
We also have programs in states such as snap to ensure people are fed. Food banks like this as well are also ment to ensure people are being fed.
I'm not sure what else the US government can be doing in terms of ensuring people are able to eat. Especially since food in and of itself is incredibly cheap. My food budget is only about $125 a month. It used to be even less when I was in college.
Anyway it's sad this is going on but the narrative in this video is just wrong. If anything america has been coming together in our communities to support each other.

If legislators grew a 'pear' they could pass legislation to allow manufacturers, restaurants, markets to give away food without the fear of being sued over. They might even go as far as let them write some of that off their taxes as it is a donation so that those parties would have even self-interest in this matter.
How is it possible for a wealthy country to have so many poor? 50 million people food insecure. That's 14.93%. That means if you see 100 people a day, 15 of them have difficulty putting food on the table.
I saw a documentary the other day, it showed a person (who used to be an Executive) driving into a Food Bank in a Tesla, c'mon. That is mismanagement. If you earn 6 figures a year, you should be able to set something aside for a rainy day.
I feel so sad for those bad-luck-stricken who lost a 20k-25k a year job, who now have to 'share' the food with Tesla drivers.
    In my country (Kosovo)
We have a minimum wage of 170 Euros per month (191 Dollars). An average salary of about 350 Euros (393 dollars) a month. An extremely good paying job here is a place providing you with 1k+ per month.
    In Kosovo
    1L Milk costs 85-95 cents (0.95-1.07 dollars)
    1L vegetable oil costs 1.60 Euros-1.80 Euros (1.80 - 2.03 Dollars)
    1L oil (for the car) costs 1.20-1.25 Euros (1.35 - 1.41 Dollars)
    5kg Flour costs 2.60 - 3.00 Euros (2.93 - 3.38 Dollars)
    30 eggs cost 3 - 3.50 Euros (3.38 - 3.95 Dollars)
Our Electric bill comes at 50 Euros per month (2 bedrooms + 1 living room with open kitchen)
Rent for a 2 Bedroom Apartment goes for 250 Euros - 350 Euros (depending on location)
Still there is not as many people homeless / in need for food banks as there are in the United States.

We also have so many churches, charity organizations who will feed you. The problem we have is greed and mismanagement of stores who should be donating instead of trashing good food, clothing and housewares. Also people are too undisciplined to stock their pantries. They'll pay mega bucks for phones, cars before they'll consider spending on long time food storage. Also we have wild edibles growing all around us, but yet too lazy to learn what they are and gather it. Weed killer is put on dandelions, plantain weed. Two of the most nutritious greens on the planet. Here's how to grow a garden. Buy seeds, stick them in the wonderful dirt we have and water. The idea that U.S.A has a food shortage is an insult to the countries who truly have no vegetation and are actually starving.

For half a century we have been conditioned to be ashamed of need, that if we can't make it on our salaries, it's our fault. But the truth is housing investors, corporate wage suppression, and public policy have conspired to extract the prosperity of the middle class and redistribute it upward. Housing developers intentionally build too few homes and demand ridiculous margins in order to sustain their millionaire status while whole neighborhoods are scooped up by rental investors that further extract profit from a commodity necessary for life. We see it everywhere: healthcare, education, food, utilities, anything people cannot provide for themselves, has been systematically targeted for high-profit returns that have combined to exceed the purchasing power of the average household income by more than double. And still no indication of a reversal in public policy to curtail such exploitation.
You can thank the intellectually stunted who believe a company has a right to demand whatever the "market will bear." That premise, applied to necessities of life, means the "market" will not indicate its highwater mark until it has far exceeded true affordability. As long as we define affordability by the maximum ROI without regard for average income levels, people will continue to find themselves in positions of having to choose between necessities of life, risking disaster more and more. When the average household income is $58,000 a year on two jobs, the risk of insolvency doubles. When the median home price in America is $340,000, it's easy to see how far out of reach homes are to a huge segment of society. And when rents double, triple, or even quadruple the cost of a mortgage, it's easy to see where the millions of tents popping up across the country originate. For those who claim the solution is find a different, better paying job, I've got news. There aren't any. Job security was sacrificed to Right to Work legislation in most states. Benefits that used to provide healthcare have dwindled to the point that employees increasingly carry the bulk of the cost while their actual coverage is all but non-existent for all but "maintenance" care, and contract and gig economy jobs are putting more and more people in the position of selling their trading their assets for a job (Uber), compounding the problem. Our only advocate, the US Government, has been corrupted and gutted of it's power by decades of propaganda blaming it for the unhampered rape of the American people by the greedy, covetous 1%. The government is surely complicit, but not because it's too big or demands too much, but for the opposite reason. The government is too small, many of its agencies reduced to powerless skeletons and exist in name only for appearance's sake. The SEC, the EPA, FEMA, and the OCC, just to name a few, while others like Sallie and Fannie Mae have been privatized not for greater efficiency and lower cost, but to create yet again another profit machine for yet another oligarch to control still another facet of housing and education (they own the home builders AND the lending machine with the power of the government behind it).
Examples of successful entrepreneurs are rife with the fleecing of the American taxpayer: Tesla received $4.9 Billion in grants from the US Government. That's not success. That's the polar opposite of the role of public spending. All Reagan's Trickle Down Economics has done is what the Russian economy did: make public investment profitable to a few for the benefit of themselves. How does Tesla benefit the American people if it pays next to no tax and its product is affordable only to a small segment of people in the higher income groups (the top 15%)? What is the ROI to the American tax payer who shoulders the majority of the cost of America?
It's easy to see both why billionaires exist and why so many voters and political leaders are convinced that billionaires should not exist: it's the simple conclusion that the only way to accumulate that kind of wealth is through exploitation on a scale that was not possible until the government was co-opted and the public convinced that it was for their own good. Freedom is the catch word that keeps you fearful of government and keeps the corporate politicians in power by your choice. It's the elimination of resistance at its most evil, where you willingly vote to continue to allow your own exploitation in the mistaken belief that once you are "Free" you will no longer be sidled by taxes and your life will be grand. But the problem is not and never was taxes. The problem is and has always been what you get for your investment. Right now, the 1% are getting a free ride on your time while they blame your misery on public spending. But it's a lie. Public spending injects money into the economy while the 1% inject money into their accumulation of wealth that benefits only themselves. Stop being blinded by the corruption of Freedom and Individual Responsibility. Stop listening to the critics of the "nanny state" as if anything that benefits the American people is automatically both wasted money and undesirable. That's how they win. By keeping you not only ignorant of the truth, but gleefully supporting the lie.

But there was no large stores, unless you drive as you said, many miles to a box store that has run the mom and pop stores out of the area. Walmart in particular is a criminal in this story. Some people would give this a thumbs down because they are food secure and make assumptions that everyone is equally situated. Those assumptions are false and are based in self satisfied false ideas. We need to look at other people as worthy rather than lazy. Can an unemployed family live on unemployment insurance? No! Do seniors on social security eat like you do? No! Does a mother with small children have enough to eat if the family tries to survive on minimum wage? No! Food prices went up. Ability to shop several stores for bargains that are few and far between in a pandemic is reduced. Our people are hungry and it is cruel to think that everyone is exactly as secure as you are. Cruelty is not an American value. Rethink your attitude.

No bathroom, no running water, not even the hose. No money. Try on the life of a homeless person. Walk only three hundred miles with fifty dollars in your pocket and your family beside you. No tent.
