Certain vocalists, no matter how old they get, they may not have the power in the vocals that they once had, but certain nuances about their voice never change, and they are instantly recognizable. Ian Gillan is one of those types of vocalists. No one else sounds like him. Robert Plant also comes to mind.
Gillan has sounded like he lost his voice a long time ago already. Some of this is surprisingly good in comparison. And to many other aged hard rockers as well, yes. Get Ritchie back, alright.

It's interesting that current DP still has the flavor that they brought in the early 70's with this line up. Ritchie was a distinctive player, but Steve made the old sound new. Don Airey was hand picked by Jon Lord to replace him. Jon wanted to retire to focus on conducting, but sadly his plans were cut short. Steve & Don freshened up the old keys & guitar interplay & brought it into the 21'st century. Simon is an awesome player, but he knows his place in this classic band. He won't try to reinvent the formula that was initiated 60 years ago. Kuddo's to Ian & the guys! Deep Purple has always been my favorite band!
Good gosh, I'm always amazed how they've managed to bring that energy along through 50 (!) years, that's something about band spirit for sure, long live Kings of Rock! P. S.: Simon is a perfect boost for the team, kudos!

I was a teenager in the 70s , the BEST time for ROCK in History. I was Lucky enough to see.them on the Perfect Strangers tour. Ian is a Rock God ! Saw Richie with Rainbow too in 77, he's Amazing. Long Live Rock n Roll ! Long Live FREEDOM and AMERICA !
I got to see Richie Blackmore reunited with original DP and they were also touring with the original Bad Co lineup. It was one of the best shows that I’ve been to and, like you, having grown up in the 70’s, I don’t/can’t recall all the different concerts I’ve seen. During the summers of ‘76 and ‘77 it seemed like going to a good concert was almost a weekly occurrence for those of us who were willing to take a roadtrip, if you know what I mean!! Lol!! Definitely a wonderful time to have been young and have the freedom to just get up and go to be able to see so much great music along with so many great musicians. Wish I would have kept all the ticket stubs. They would have made for great memories!!

Ridiculous for a good seat today. you could go on a small vacation for what they want to see a lager act up close under a roof.Not to mention we could bring coolers into out door events.instead paying 10 bux for can of cheep off brand beer.

I'm 59 and have been a musician for longer than I care to know. Ian Paice has NO equal when it comes to cymbals. It's good to see the Ian's and Roger. Glover is a very underrated bassist. He put the meat under so many of Purple's compositions. He does not over-play or under-play and don't give me crap about a bass player using a pick; Macca and Big Chris Squire did just fine thank you. I had Made In Japan before deploying to the Indian Ocean in the 80's for my Walkman. That tape got me through.
Not a fan of the way they re structured the main riff of Perfect Strangers. When did they do this and why? I saw DP in Feb 2022 and he did the same thing. I want to hear the 1984 version. No reason to try to modernize it.
To me , The Ancient Metal Guy who is fully conversant with all forms of Extreme Metal and done all the gigs that make that so . This is still the Greatest R&R band on Planet Earth . Fucking Cheers from Australia and the Ancient Metal Guy .
Heck Yeah... man I so hope to get to see them again, fortunate enough to see them during the Battle Rages on album tour (was a little lad), and it was freaking awesome... But I love their last 4 albums (cover album certainly included) and would love to get a chance to experience the current lineup rocking some of those songs (and old stuff too... this was awesome).
Well. that generation learnt there instruments, blues, Jazz, classical...great. .modern musicians in rock just are not studying, as musicians various past history, hence it all sounds the same. Loads of passion, feeling here ...love it.

Would love to know what Gillan has behind his screen ... I have this image of an armchair, some gargling juice and a packet of custard creams. Saw them in 2014 and he spent about 40% of the show behind it. Couldn’t help but focus on Paices facial expressions as he gets into it. One of the great bands, love them
Not sure of what he's doing now, but he used to have a party with a couple of hot girls up to a few years ago. I saw a bra flying above Paice's head multiple times in Genoa, six years ago and of course, there are the videos as well...
That's not Steve Morse. I saw this band in 73 on Gillan's last tour before he quit. all original members aside of Rod Evens. It was awesome and will for ever be burned in my brain watching jon lord rock that B-3 and Blackmore destroying guitars and of course all of the magic dry ice fog. those were the good days. I could take a bus from wheeling WV to downtown Pittsburgh for 7.50 round trip. cheaper than gas by a long shot. the bus terminal was very close to the arena. Have seen some great acts there in their early days. alice cooper billion dollar babies.
