I believe that the Holy Rosary of our Lady won that Battle at Lapanto. And that Holy Rosary of our Holy Mother has toppled many authoritarian regimes that would stand between us and God's love & freedom since that time. And I believe that the Holy Mother's Rosary is an incredible weapon against evil, authoritarian governments and militaries today. All real freedom fighters pray that Rosary. I grew up Our Lady of Victory church and school. I never heard of Don Juan and LePonto. I read his story last year. I was hoping for some sort of something that the church would do to celebrate the 450th(?) Anniversary. I think we, especially the pope, are too afraid to offend people that we forgot to acknowledge this awesome victory of Our Lady. She, and her Son, must have been so sad.

Fr. Calloway, you are a spiritual Fr.. If you were not, I would call you Reverend Calloway … I’m not trying to be blasphemous, that is not my intent. When Our Lord was nailed to, and raised upon, the cross, He did not call upon God Our Father to send down His armies to destroy His enemies. On the contrary, God The Son begged God Our Father to forgive His enemies … to have mercy upon them … it will not be by force of arms, nor armies that wield weapons of war that “saves” civilization from the abyss of destruction & souls from the pit of Hell. It will be by the heartfelt intentions of the many rosaries offered for the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary to Our Lord Jesus, beseeching His mercy. Intercession for the hearts of mankind will be turned and lifted to God the Father. From that, religious & fervent faithful will be rise to teach a suffering humanity to accept that mercy and develop a Holy fear of God the Father that arises, not from the thought & fear of hell, but from sentiments of reverence and filial submission to our heavenly Father. It is the fear that is the beginning of wisdom, detaching us from worldly pleasures that could in any way separate us from God. Only by helping others come to know & fall in love w/God the Father, will the world be set right, be healed & find peace. It was a naval battle and won by Spain and the fleet the Spanish king took with him representing the territories mentioned above .
