The fan base gets a lot of crap for being impatient but I see it as being adapt to identify poor quality coaching. Sampson was good but IU wanted a clean program and that’s not too much to ask.
It’s time to not worry about Indiana roots and pick a young guy that can build this program from the ground up because right now we are on the ground level no matter what our record shows

I don't understand Goodman's logic that says Indiana had success with hiring Cignetti from a mid major, but that was Indiana football and this is Indiana basketball. How has hiring a former NBA head coach and legendary IU player worked out for them? Wouldn't Indiana's experience with Cignetti teach them that there are great coaches working in the weeds and winning without major college resources and that their coaching can translate to a major program? Nate Oats was a mid major coach for 4 seasons and less than 10 years removed from being a high school coach, and he's taken Alabama to the highest level in program history. Would Goodman have said Indiana can't hire Nate Oats 6 years ago? Indiana is a faded brand in college basketball. Lumping the Indiana job with the Kentucky job is laughable. Other than one Final 4 with Mike Davis 20+ years ago, Indiana basketball has been pretty much irrelevant for about 30 years now. It is probably the seventh best basketball program among the old Big 10 schools over the last 3 decades, behind Purdue, Michigan State, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Ohio State. If the administration at Indiana is on some high horse that they're too big to hire a mid major coach or must hire somebody from the "Indiana family", they need to get off it.
Well said. Until IU fans realize they are not a Blue Blood program anymore they will continue to spiral. You can't fix a problem if you won't admit you have one. They need to hire a good, young, up and coming coach, then give him time to build a program. They have unlimited dollars to buy mercenaries. Goodman sure has some bizarre takes. Indiana is too big to hire a mid major coach, but Auburn is so pathetic that the only way they might agree to let Bruce Pearl go to Indiana was if he let them hire his nepo baby son who has never been a head coach? Steven is in his 11th year on his father's staff at Auburn, and I'm guessing if another major school or even mid major thought he was ready to be a head coach, they would have hired him.

@alfonsogreen2722 No one better is coming to IU.
@neilanger2538 i tried 2 give Woodson the benefit of the doubt after a 5 game winning streak (also including the win against Ohio state) but i don't have faith in him no more. Maybe u still do but I no longer dont
There are a couple coaches in the SEC who are good coaches but the league is so damn good and deep and loaded theyre going to be looking for calmer waters to wade in. Chris Beard, Todd Golden (now that he's cleared of the Pedo stuff), Chris Jans, etc.
Big ten calm waters? lol
@@Cooliewhistles infinitely calmer, yes. At least this year.
lol mick would never even consider leaving ucla for Indiana
UCLA is like $50M+ in debt they're incompetent over there 😂
I think you’re wrong here.
100% incorrect. He's a midwest dude
I think the kind of players and style of play Cronin wants is not a good fit for southern California. Based on his rant about how soft his players are, I could see him being interested in going back to the midwest.
You guys are all stupid af if you think Cronin leaves ucla. He literally took a dumb on the entire Midwest two weeks ago and said it’s way better here. Steve Alford didn’t even want Indy job over ucla. Zero percent chance Cronin takes it. Ucla is 10000 percent a better job than Indy and he’ll have a way better roster next year at ucla than Indy. He could legit win a title at ucla next year. No chance he does that at Indy
I dont think our female president would hire Beard. I hope they would but it would cause a revolution. IU Bloomington is a very progressive school and city. If they got everyone on board, maybe. But i dont see it...
Purdue is everything IU has wanted to be the last 20 years, tradition, recruiting, coaching, winning, etc. Mick C doesn't like the airplane time, but he needs a horse track near him!. Let the stars line up and get Chris Beard....
Wow no wonder Indiana sucks. Thanks for the insider knowledge
Whitten doesn’t hire the coaches
Indiana will not hire Chris Beard. Donors and alumni absolutely would not stand for it
Exactly @@codyrockarano5220
@@codyrockarano5220 Yeah, I guess if you're not willing to hire a guy who was credibly accused of domestic violence that makes you "woke".
Indiana should hire Steve Alford. Just get it out of the system: Sign him to a 5-year contract and see how it goes. It can't get any worse than it is now.
lol you must not know about his time at Iowa
@@zackerybarnett1890 I know all about his time in Iowa, New Mexico, UCLA and now Nevada.
No one at Indiana would want to hire Alford if he had played at UI instead of IU. No more nepotism hires!
@@johnhenryNC so you’d be okay with a coach who helped cover up a rape?
Another 5 years of losing isn't the answer.
Richard Pitino.
You saw how he did at Minnesota
NM is destined for its second straight NCAA appearance, Pitino is on pace for his best record ever. MN fired him after finishing a game under .500 during the COVID lockdown.
Pitino might not be Bloomington bound, but he is not long for Albuquerque.
No way
