    I know the mix pre 10 is twice the price of the mix pre 6. But with buying the timecode sync boxes at about $520 US that puts you approximately $300 away from the mix pre 10 price. I think it's worth it to save up and get the mix pre 10 with built in timecode. Great video btw.

      Hello
      Your comment seems very interesting, but according to the specifications of Mix Pre 10 have: Integrated Time code generator + Wordclock
      However, Tentacle generates time code according to SMPTE
      These are different parameters.
      But I only know Mix Pre 10 to read data I haven´t had the opportunity to try it.

    regarding "tap, tap, tap" tapping on the touchscreen for changes, try the headphone knob - it will also work. :0)

      Thank goodness! It was seeming awful the ergonomics otherwise, and that the Wingman would be absolutely essential at all times.

    Hi Rodolfo! Can you connect a timecode camera to the Mixpre in the morning (and then disconnect it) and the Mixpre continues to run this timecode throughout the day (maybe getting a little bit off)? Does it keep the given timecode after being disconnected? Or does it completely change back to it’s own pseudo-timecode? Thanks a lot, you rock!

    Another simple and very informative video. We never get bored of your sharing = )
    I have some questions :
    1 / The output and input of the ordinary G3 transmitter is Mono. So even using a splitter between the MixPre and the two G3, we will have exactly the same audio (probably from the Right channel only). It's correct ?
    2 / Where can I find a cheap TimeCode system, even used? I'm not in Canada, but I can buy online (I have not found on BH something in my budget)?
    3 / If you intend to sell your equipment or you have practical recommendations (quality/price ratio), kindly keep me informed.
    Thank you Rodolfo

    mine (Mic pre 3 only) said after hitting timecode, TC Mode HDMI TC???? your said something different, is this because I am in advanced mode? I was told in order to use the powerbank and timecode that I should be connecting USB-C to USB C....is this correct?

    I had the same complaints about the SD card, I call sound devices to trouble shot my premix firmware upgrade and made the same statement. The tech responded “just connect it to your laptop. With a usb cable.” 🤯🤯

    Hello.
    Thanks for this video is very interesting.
    How is the join of the two lithium ion batteries with the Mix Pre 6? It can resist making field recordings without falling?
    I had a bad experience making field recordings with the 702 sound devices, I used one of these batteries and didn´t have a good join, continually the lithium ion battery desprended off the recorder, big problem.
    This model of batery in the video maybe is the DSTE 1?
    Thank you.
    Greetings from Spain.

      Powering of the Mixpre series is very poor due to it being smaller than the NP batteries. Only the Mixpre 10 has Hirose connector, the rest do not. You have to buy an adapter that holds the 2 NP batteries and as you see in the video, it doesn't lay flat on a surface. The adapter is very flimsy and I returned the mixpre 10 after doing a couple jobs with it. It does not sound anywhere near as good as the 7 series.

    I have the Mixpre3 and it sounds really awesome I would definately recommend it, though I bought the Orca 27 bag, which is the smallest one they have, and it is huge for the mixpre 3. Quick question, do you think the usb C connector is strong enough for powering without thinking constantly that it stays in place or not?

    • @RLFOSOUND
      @RLFOSOUND  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fernando Pozo I would feel more at ease if I was powering my machine from the provided caddy but that's a solution it's sure strong enough

    • @MichaelWynneCAS
      @MichaelWynneCAS 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alex Petterson the G3 output is mono so for that you would need a 3.5mm two one single XLRM for output and it should work, just be sure your pin configuration is correct

    I feel the SD card location is not too bad, it is a similar position to what I have to deal with both my Zoom F4 and Sound Devices 552.
    But I only need to get to the SD card once a day (at wrap) anyway, not a big deal at all.
    Anyway, I much more prefer the F4's specs/functionality over the MixPre6! :-D

    • @tomaskruse4871
      @tomaskruse4871 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It´s possible if you use a slim pendrive like this: www.amazon.es/gp/product/B005FYNSZA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1AT7YVPFBWXBL&psc=1, in the usb port and using it at the same time like a backup. What do you think??

    • @SoundSpeeding
      @SoundSpeeding 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be a work around, but at the same time it adds another point of failure.... not something you'd want to risk with the MixPre6! (as unlike the Zoom F4, the MixPre6 lacks dual media recording)

    • @RLFOSOUND
      @RLFOSOUND  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sound Speed! It's just a bit weird to get the sd I do backups often so it's quite a hassle to swap media in my case, I have not tried the f4 I am
      Curious to check it out

  • @whiterock1865

    Most audio bags also have bottom access, so if you have in mounted in such a bag, you just flip open the bottom bag flap and then access the battery and SD card slots...not too rough.

    • @RLFOSOUND
      @RLFOSOUND  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      True true I just hate the battery caddy in the mix pre hahah but it is not a deal breaker

    • @whiterock1865
      @whiterock1865 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! External power is definitely preferable like in the 10T...as its a pain to get the card out. Though the 10T allows the mirroring on the usb drive so that's more convenient to use to copy he audio afterwards I'd think.

    You need to be careful on the G3 transmitter. On the G3 transmitter TRS input, tip is the mic input and ring is instrument line input. The instrument line input does something funky with what Sennheiser calls cable emulation. If using the stereo output from the mixer for the G3, you only want to send signal to the tip, not the ring, or least that has been my experience.
