I never knew this film existed until yesterday because I saw the trailer for the remake and had to do some Google and blew my top on what I discovered. I’ve always like Jeremy Irons as an actor but this performance made me respect his craft!!
Classic horror film. David Cronenberg really matured as a storyteller and filmmaker, moving from intelligent body horror to psychological body horror with this film. Jeremy Irons is incredible in the dual role.

Really good trailer but I think it misrepresents the movie as a true horror, when it’s really more of a psychological and erotic thriller that is ultimately a tragedy: the trailer shows most of the “horror” scenes.
So weird, but yet so weirdly compelling... That's the problem with weirdness in general. It's performed by people which we find disgusting. But what if those people were beautiful and smart?

I don't know how that would work. Many times in the film both of them are seen together and addressed seperately by many people. He was the voice of the Loc-Nar from Heavy Metal.

Yes, I miss the narrator's on trailers. This man's voice really adds atmosphere to an already creepy film trailer.
It was worth going to the theatre just to hear him narrate the trailers.

Masterpiece. Jeremy Irons absolutely became two different people who look identical. Wow…
Whatever that remake is, it doesn't even seem worth my time. It absolutely pales in comparison to this.
Have you seen the 90s version of Lolita? He's brilliant in it. So is Dominique Swain. Sadly, it ended her career.
