Was able to fix my D90 today with this video! 📷 To keep track of all the screws, I used the timestamp from the video when each was taken out and arranged them that way. So I could always go back on the video and locate where exactly it belonged. Thank you for the clear and detailed instructions!
Hello - just wanted to let you know that your video helped me be successful in replacing the gear for my elderly father's camera that we couldn't afford to pay to get fixed or buy a new camera - even second hand. I don't know how much longer my dad will be around but I know that with the time you took to make this video to help me fix his camera I will be left with many more special pictures and memories after he's gone. Thank you very much for your time and detail in making this video.
My D90 has the same problem and I am going to follow your very clear instructions step by step. You saved the day! Thank you for the amazing video quality and all the efforts you put into your videos!
@@riskifixes Update! I fixed my D90 today following your video today. My rear display also did not work the first time as well, replugging the flex cable fixed the problem. Now it's a fully functional camera, thanks a lot!
I managed to repair my d90 thanks to this video. I encountered the same problem with the rear display on the first reassembly but by repositioning the 2 electronic cables the display reappeared. It is still better to have the service manual for the screw number. This seems essential to me for reassembly because many of the screws are different. Thank you so much!
Thank you very much for this video. My D90 had the same failure symptom and I disassembled it carefully following the procedure in the video. It was indeed the engine pinion that was cracked. I found one for €3.07 and reassembled my camera following the video. I just lightly re-greased the gears and it's back like new. Sincere thanks! 😀👍
What an outstanding repair camera video!!I have the D90 Nikon!I inherited it from my father last year after he passed away in april. He also had the Nikon D300 &He barely used either camera!!They both look BRAND NEW ,With no scratches and alot of lenses in great condition also!I plan to go out alot in spring an summertime practicing taking pics& using the D90's video record mode!Crazy how old these cams are,But they are still useable in 2023!Keep up the great work my friend,You're awesome! We love your video's &I just subscribed too!Stay creative ok!✌🤜🤛🙏😸
@@riskifixes hello, i fixed ny d90.... but my rear display ist still black and my camera doesnt save pictures... i also reppluged the flex cable for the 3. time ... i dont know anymore, what to do :( maybe you know what to do? im sorry, i failed D:
Thanks for watching! Yes, you should discharge it as it could shock you or damage your camera/equipment. Be careful. Take a look at here: www.digikey.com/en/blog/how-to-safely-discharge-a-capacitor
Hello. I'm having the same issue as I just hear the same sound every time I click the shutter button. And the display showing the Err. I think this is closest to my issue as I know the mirror will go up if I manually move it up. I'm just not sure about the shutter... How do I know if this is the exact issue? Thanks in advance!
I'm having the same issue with my new old stock D300. The camera is literally new, it has +/-200 shutter actuations. This seems to be very common issue with Nikon cameras and the fact that Nikon has done NOTHING to address it is simply beyond me. What a crap company!
Compré está mierda de maquina, que solo me duró dos sesiones de fotos. Es por lo que he visto la basura más grande jamás creada no me voy a molestar en repararla, la mierda hay que tirarla.

Thank you, I repaired my D90.
Pinion was loose, it was not cracked. I used loctite glue and it is fixed.
Thanks for the video, this just happened to mine, and yup the spur gear was cracked at the shaft
hi, wanna know how to deal with the stripped screw?
I've got a similar camera (d60), so I guess it'll be similar. I'll tell you when I give it a try

@@AbbyTheAnimeFreak Sorry it took me so long to reply.
I would check all the connectors etc. once more. Other than that, I don't know, sorry.
I got stuck at 4:56. Do I need to discharge the flash capacitor? I will need to get this tool otherwise..

I have a broken toaster. Could you fix it if I send it to you?
Link to buy the gear for D90? I see in eBay but making sure it’s from reliable source
Sorry, I can’t remember where I bought it. Most likely from eBay.
@@riskifixesthanks. I got mine from eBay. I’m about to start the replacement today.
Wow amazing

I’m sorry, I’m not skilled enough to know what could cause your issue.
Can you show me where the cmos battery is?
Sorry, I don’t know if it has one.
I have the “ERR” message constantly, but if I click, the photo is taken (in random settings though). Can it be the same problem of the video?
It could be, but I don’t know for sure, sorry.

Koi online link do please
Not sure what do you mean, but try AliExpress etc.
Mine has same problem but scared I would get screws mixed up. Guess I will have to pay the 167.00 to have a shop do it.
yes , i agree pay someone, not worth the hassle! or buy another one
Considering the price at introduction in 2008 was $899.95, Nikon should be ashamed of themselves for using all those plastic-gears..

Are you really doing repairs while wearing a luminor panerai are you crazy ? 😂
