If a tax was imposed on cigarettes, wouldn't the tax burden be on the consumers as the demand curve for cigarettes is inelastic (addictive)? The supplies could just increase in selling price rather than decrease in their supply?

Yeah, it would mostly be a burden on the consumers. This was pointed out in a previous video.
