- My 14 months old won't descend the stairs and arguing with me. I won't let him descend by himself but when i said let's go down stairs, his funny reaction made me to start recording. I need help with baby translation. Who speaks "baby"? Like, share and subscribe for more from this lil man.
Legend has it that Gerry is still at the top of the stairs explaining why he can't come down.... he's 42 now🤣🤣

Instead of respecting the baby's correct instinct, you penalised with a threat to abandon him there. Despite your good intention, I think this was teaching blind trust and recklessness. I say, 'turn around' with a hand gesture or soft toy to demonstrate descending backwards on knees - the SAFE way, which also preserves baby's autonomy from 'Daddy will catch you'. Adults don't need to prove our prowess to little ones. We need to be respectful mentors who encourage caution while facilitating appropriate autonomy and problem solving.

So cute!🤣😂 That's what my 23 months old grandson did when he was that age; but the minute the father left and hid behind a column by the stairs watching him, he held onto the banister and slowly came down the stair. His mother and I were watching all this unfold through the TV monitor. Grandchildren are truly the greatest joy.

I think as adults we forget how scary stairs are when you’re so little. I remember going through this with my own kids and even our puppy and having them look at me with that same look as if to say “Ah hell no! You can talk sweetly and encourage me till doomsday, but I’m not doing that!”😂🤣
