I see the ski lift "piston rods" extend quite normally in your case and the springs provide enough buffering (19:25). I ended up with a slipped disc last week because of the sudden yanks that literally launched me in the air as I accelerated from a stop.

thanks for watching. Yes, I can relate. As Americans unused to surface lifts that happened to us too when we first arrived in France. Well not quite a slipped disc but pulled backs early on using them but now we crouch and bend forward upon take-off. Each one is slightly different. I recall one having such a harsh takeoff that it literally lifted people off the ground at the start.

Nice video! It's very sad for these picturesque villages that are not rich and that had invested money in the development of the resorts, and it's sad for the loss of jobs. Climate change will cause a lot of damage.

I Learned to ski in Vermont on surface lifts. Thanks for a lovely video! MY France Scouting trip starts in about a week! We'll be in Grenoble Jan 30-31. So bummed the Tram to the top of the Bastille is closed until the 6th of Feb! But I think we'll hit up the Musée de la Resistance followed by some chocolat chaud.

The walk up to the Bastille is very interesting. It starts with some pleasant switch backs (you can also take stairs) but once you get to the first rampart, it's like being in an Escher lithograph. I walk my dog to the first rampart about 3 times a week. There are actually 3 museums in Bastille vicinity. 1) Musée archéologique Saint-Laurent at the foot of the main Bastille trail; 2) Musée dauphinois a little above the Saint Laurent foot bridge - take the stairs by the Lion and Snake fountain; and 3) Musée des troupes de montagne at the Bastille station at the top. If I recall correctly, the entry for the first two is free, and the mountain troops museum is about 3€.

C'est très triste, il y avait beaucoup de petites stations abordables aux moins riches obligées de fermer car plus rentables 😢
