- Parmesh Shahani has a very interesting outlook on his aesthetic. He purchased his first home, a two-bedroom apartment in Vikhroli, Mumbai that he then designed himself. He gets his inspiration from his love for fashion, textile and Bollywood. While designing his variedly patterned home, he had a very clear idea of what he wanted his aesthetic to be and that it has only been growing since he was young and his epithets-“rasik”, “sensuous”, “queer”, “maximalist”, “exuberant”-are as if shining from every pore of his being lending him a neon glow that makes everything else in his vicinity appear staid. The Sabyasachi collection with Asian Paints greatly appealed to him while decorating the walls. The dining set that sits has a mother-of-pearl inlay. The rest of the décor is formed by antiques, wall posters and art collected by Parmesh over the years. His queer identity, travels, books and experiences are at the core of planning his beautiful home.

I love everything about this home and of course, Parmesh. One person who really lives up to his public image (I have had the opportunity to work with him). He is so mindful of inclusion in his everyday life, it's ever inspiring.
And, even though I'm a thorough minimalist, I still find the strength to be myself in his maximalist ways.

'Did I ask you baba?!' this casual passive agressive rudeness is nothing to celebrate! I don't understand why the tendency to 'give it off' at the drop of a hat has caught up with so many these days especially in our lgbt community. Such rash reaction to such a harmless suggestion puts you down eventually. The person was probably trying his best to assist you and here you are basking in pride from having been an a****** to him. And no, your past can not be justification to that. Just you smiling the whole time doesn't immideatly make you a good person.
the ability to pushback is an essential skill for the marginalised. no excuse for rudeness in general, but the sales guy could have been patronising and judgy too!
