  • The Four MOST IMPORTANT Steps To Growing The Perfect Green Plot With Mark Drury | Deer Season '22
    You've heard us say it over and over, if you plant it they will come. Well, it's mid-August and that means it's time to get the BioLogic into the ground! On this episode of Deer Season '22, we join Mark Drury as he covers what he considers to be, the four most important steps to planting a successful green plot. Then we head south to join Matt Drury who's also working against the clock to get seed in the ground before a local rain event. Finally, we join Forrest Bonnin who's back working on brother Terry's Missouri farm. There he provides us with an alternative way to bridge the gap when food plots need a drink in between rains.

    Those 3 bad letters have hit southern Ohio and eastern Indiana hard. Praying for a healthy heard. Same for you guys. Good luck this season.

      The Kimura Hunter Outdoors, we’re really glad to hear it and hope it helps! Drill or no drill, it’s a sound approach to getting those green plots in the ground! Thank you for taking the time to watch and we can’t wait to get the hunting episodes rolling for 2022.

    You will love the Marthasville area! Lots of big mature bucks come from there every year and some of the most consistent turkey hunting you could ask for! I've personally taken 2 gross booners within 5 miles of there at my moms 14acres

      Denny Pitman, big bucks and consistent turkey hunting... what else could a person want? Congrats on the two booners and hopefully this year makes #3. Also in case you missed it, we released episode 7 of Deer Season '22 yesterday, a link to that is below! Let us know what you think and as always, thank you for the support. Have a great night Denny!

    @DruryOutdoors In the intro shot to video the 5th buck right at begining had a floppy ear. Random question but what is the cause of this? I had a large whitetail that had a droopy ear just like that last year. I was afraid he was injured or sick. Never found out since he got hit by a car

    • @DruryOutdoors
      @DruryOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thetrooper, typically something like that is caused by an injury from fighting! It's always hard to say but either way the buck is awesome and we can't wait to see him this year hopefully. Hey Tyson Ames, thanks for the question man! We didn’t fill the hopper full each time, only to the amount that we needed per plot or 8lb to the acre. Appreciate the question and have a great night!

    I love it all, but the part I'm most curious about is the electric fence. Do you just focus on keeping deer out? I'm curious if you have issues with raccoons an what you might do? Thanks

    • @callmecamo2
      @callmecamo2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gotta have it on small soybean plots or the deer will nip it off at the ground. I'm not sure about the other plot he moved it to though. Might have to try it myself.

    • @forrestbonin7961
      @forrestbonin7961 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Brett, most of the time we are just fencing in beans to try and keep them growing in areas with high deer density. We have never had any issues with raccoons eating soybeans.
      As far as moving the wire after planting. As dry as it has been the deer will destroy those new green shoots coming up so we have hot-wired some of our green plots to protect them this fall! Good luck this season and thanks for watching!

    Do you all have armyworm problems? If I plant my cereal grains too early, they'll rip em a new one.

    • @DruryOutdoors
      @DruryOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our best suggestion would be to talk to your local co-op to figure out what spray works best for you. They vary in strength but typically we shoot to find one that lasts for 30 days. As with most chemicals, if rain hits it will diminish the effectiveness. Thank you for the support and best of luck to you this season callmecamo2! Have a great night.
