About a handful of people in the US here in the car would do that for a stranger. I guarantee you they would cheer and yell at the failing of someone scraping and damaging their car, let alone helping them and getting out of the way like that. Culture gets looked down on in America but I noticed more and more people are being influenced by Japanese proper car culture and it’s good.
