Had my left eye done when I was 4. It was ok, but one night at dinner right after the procedure, I felt like my left eye was lit on fire. I don’t think it lasted terribly long, but it stayed with me. This was in 1967. So they may have even popped the eye out to shorten the muscle. Who knows.
This makes it sound like stabismus surgery for adults can help with binocular vision, but I thought that this kind of surgery for adults was purely cosmetic (ie. it makes the eyes appear to be aligned even when they're actually not).
3 years late but I’m due corrective surgery in the morning so wth, the restoration of binocular vision depends completely on the specific patients and their personal requirements. I’m having my eyes slightly over corrected so they still won’t look fully 100% symmetrical however this leaves me a strong chance of near sight binocular returning and a fair chance of long sighted returning, if I had the eyes put completely symmetrical then I would have no chance of binocular returning as the eyes still wouldn’t be focused on the exact same point, then there are some people who’s brain has blanked the drifted eye so strongly it will never be able to use binocular again no matter how well aligned focus is.

I felt so nauseous after the surgery. Anyway, I had surgery on December 28th it is now Feb 3rd. The pink in my eye are now almost completely gone. About week 4, i rubbed my eyes(DONT RUB) oh my god. I got rashes on the corner and bottom of my eye, that was my fault. Luckily nothing ruined the eye itself. My eye lids also shut close by morning, also not a good idea to pick off the eye crust... bad. regret. Seriously thought I gave myself an infection. Another youtuber told me they had the same problem so if you are going through that, don’t stress too much. It gradually got better, i see single now, unless in within 4 feet I see double but focusing on the object will join it as one. Hope this answered a question or two. Very accurate video
@Gabriel Deoliveira yes just my right eye. Feel free to ask any questions:) The corner of eye is more pink now but it's getting better. I think the worst of it for me was that I have a history of migraines and as my brain adjusted, my migraines came on. The migraines settled after 2wks.
@Gabriel Deoliveira Definitely understandable why you want to wait!:) I didn't even know I could have the surgery until now and I'm 30. It took about 2 weeks for the migraines to stop and 4 weeks before I felt like my old self again.

Hi. I had the surgery.. when they work on the opposite eye the eye that is not centered will become centered. I didn’t understand how that will work either but it did..your dr will explain it to you
I have been convincing my self not to try the surgery thinking that my case is different and it can't go away since I don't use one of my eyes. Please let me know if I should go for a surgery. Thank you.

I have my 65yo mom who daily uses her phone up close (4-5 inches away from eyes). She regularly needs to switch between her long sighted/short sighted lenses but usually doesn’t switch and simply removes her specs when she uses her phone, hence the need to hold it so close. Would you say this will cause/deteriorate her lazy eye? She is soon planned for a surgery to address this. But it just makes logical sense to me that the close up phone use habit absolutely doesn’t help the situation and would make it worse.
Left eye looks beyond perfect in relation to my right eye .. basically my right eye has a different shape and at some times it does not points at the same direction as my left eye .. it looks terrible in photos , I just wanna get it done right just as my left eye

My problem is double vision that usually shows up mainly later in the day. My doc says that my right eye focuses images higher than the left eye due to muscle weakness. To look at me, you would not see any difference in the alignment of my eyes. On days when i use only my glasses [ prescription] i have less of a problem. Most days I also wear multifocal contacts then switch to my glasses in the evening while watching tv. By then, I’m nearly always having the double vision problem. I find myself closing one eye to see normally. My eye surgeon [ i was referred to by my regular eye doc] says muscle surgery should correct this. Please let me know if anyone reading this has this same problem. Also would like to hear results of your eye muscle surgery 😊 thanks.
Hello Nancy, I too have the same problem as you. Always double vision at the end of the day. My contact lenses make it worse so stopped wearing them so much. I find my glasses are more reliable. I stopped driving a few years ago just in case the double vision kicked in. I see a strabimus consultant once a year at Moorfields and she believes surgery would be best. I have resisted the surgery but I know I must make a decision soon. I seem to get more episodes of d.b during the day from time to time, so perhaps I should have thes surgery?
I’ve been getting lazy eye for the past month an the last few days it’s been getting really bad before I noticed with my affected eye at night time in my house when I tried to see in the dark everything with that eye was darker than my other eye for a year I’ve had blurred vision before what can it be anyone can help ? I’m 22
I had a surgery years ago. Now my eyes are really crossing. I was told that if I had surgery to correct the crossing, they would adjust the good eye to match up with the weak muscled one. Is this the way it is done.?
My eyes were always aligned perfectly until I recently had a floaters only vitrectomy and a natural lens replacement in my right eye.. fortunately my sight is still fine when I'm looking straight ahead but now the image doubles when I look around. I get a slight double image when I look up or to the left but when I look down or to the right it's 2 markedly separate images. Is this also strabismus and could I benefit from an eye muscle operation?
I doubt that the cause of uncleared vision after the surgery is it's because of the anesthesia effect that was applied. I'm wondering why the doctors didn't explain these things.
@@demarcusmccullum1581 I feel you on that. For 17 years I've never let anyone see me without my glasses cause of my cross eyes. I had the surgery today so hopefully I can learn to be happy with myself.
@@matthewheron9738 okay, i’m over a day post-op now. it genuinely wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be! some people get tons of pain and get swollen eyes and stuff, but for me, i was fine! i went home a few minutes after i woke up from the anesthesia. the pain really isn’t bad at all, in my experience. it’s mostly just my eyes feeling sore and heavy. i had two muscles readjusted in the inner corners of both of my eyes i believe. it hurts to move my eyes a little, and i could feel the stitches in my eye the first day, but that’s gone away now. overall, it isn’t as bad as i thought at all! it depends on the person though

I had this problem as a child and I can tell you from experience "IT WAS A BITCH FROM HELL!!!" I had to have it done twice. Once when I was little and the second in 6th or 7th grade. It pissed me off big time cause if I had been able to wait just 1 week I could have had it on video, and not cost my a full grade point.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
The doctor I went to said that, it probably wouldn't really work at my age ( I was 53 years old at the time, last year) but they could do it for cosmetic reason but I could end up probably with double vision or somethng like that) I might just have to deal with this

The brain aligns the eyes or turns the eye to stop double vision. This is a brain problem, not an eye muscle problem. When you cut muscles you remove the feedback loop for muscle alignment. And depth perception is NOT improved in strabismus surgery, in fact, the opposite is true. Especially in adults. If you want cosmetic alignment for a while (a month or so), go for it. If you have to do more than 1 surgery, it means it didn't work. Just the facts.
How do you know it's not both a muscle problem and a brain problem? If it were only a brain problem, then why would anyone need maintenance VT once they are taught to use their eyes together? You don't forget how to walk or ride a bike.
@@naomigreenwald3009 Some people need maintenance VT because the person has the tendency to go back to the original adaptation. Therapy done well and thoroughly does not need maintenance. There is not a single study showing that the eye muscles are weak. In fact, the opposite is true. They are the most innervated, accurate, and strongest muscles (per muscle unit) in the human body.

Just over a year and my eye is perfect, just like everyone else x
I have to have this surgery on October 4th
Crystal Smith Hey man how was your surgery?
Vikram Singh it went well, still have a little redness, but doing great
Crystal Smith Can you tell me on which eye of your's the surgery was performed?
Vikram Singh it was my right eye,
Crystal Smith i want to know that how much will i spend money at least and is it so painful
Thanks Sir very helpful video
I really appreciate it for watching this video.
How soon do you start to see results after strabismus surgery?
It isn't cosmetic. Life can be debilitating when you see double constantly. Ever try to drive when you see a ghost image of everything?
That makes no sense? If your eyes appear properly aligned then they are properly aligned?
NOT cosmetic!
I am in 52 years ,with glaucoma and Stabismus eye , can someone help me for surgery

Had mine done - in OR- most painless surgery ever had. No bandage nothing
Donbu Ho where did you get your surgery done
3rd times a charm for me. I have had straight eyes for 2 years now.
Hey Kim, sorry if this is a year late but I want to get a third op. Were your surgeons not concerned about the scar tissue from your first 2 ops?

Just had my surgery and it went really well!

Hello I have a question.
My doctor wants to opperate on my opposite eye. Why would a doctor want to do that? Im really confused.
I have a left eye that turns inward and my right eye is centered. I dont think I will go through with it because it doesnt make sense to me. Is there a reason why?
Hi. I had the surgery.. when they work on the opposite eye the eye that is not centered will become centered. I didn’t understand how that will work either but it did..your dr will explain it to you
I can move my eyes in any direction together but when do it with single eye I got strabismus should I do the surgery procedure

You can move just one eye???
I have been convincing my self not to try the surgery thinking that my case is different and it can't go away since I don't use one of my eyes. Please let me know if I should go for a surgery. Thank you.
I don't use one eye after an accident in my childhood wich caused strabismus.

Hi Clash,
We spoke with one of our Ophthalmologists about your question and he said you absolutely can assuming there are not extenuating circumstances. Let us know if you have any other questions. If you are in GA, we would love to serve you here at Thomas Eye Group (678) 892- 2020
Same with me , really wish after surgery my squint will go off , frustrated with always wearing glasses..

Had this 28 /29 years ago and now at almost 34 i need help again
I had it done when I was 15, I’m 30 now and starting to feel it coming back. 😫
Both eyes should be done at the same time. Getting the surgery done this month at DOHENY Eye Center in West LA.
Can one die from this surgery due to vascular ocular reflex???
I had this surgery but did not work fully
My eyes were always aligned perfectly until I recently had a floaters only vitrectomy and a natural lens replacement in my right eye.. fortunately my sight is still fine when I'm looking straight ahead but now the image doubles when I look around. I get a slight double image when I look up or to the left but when I look down or to the right it's 2 markedly separate images. Is this also strabismus and could I benefit from an eye muscle operation?
This might be what you need. First, investigate thyroid eye disease. Are your eyes bulging outward? See an ophthalmologist.
I doubt that the cause of uncleared vision after the surgery is it's because of the anesthesia effect that was applied. I'm wondering why the doctors didn't explain these things.
I just had this surgery and want to know if anyone can tell me what I can do to help the itching and scratchy of my eyes please any ideas ?
Tasha stirling try eyedrops for itchiness.
What if one's strabismus eye goes up instead inward or outward?

hi! i’m getting this surgery today, i’ll let you know afterwards!

I had this problem as a child and I can tell you from experience "IT WAS A BITCH FROM HELL!!!"
I had to have it done twice. Once when I was little and the second in 6th or 7th grade. I remember that I had really bad timing for the second one because it cost me a full grade in my science class for missing a lab day (dissecting a squid if I remember correctly).

Went to my post op visit 20 20 vision both eyes no more double vision no more glasses it was 20 60 and double vision
having this surgery on march 17th
How did it go I have this surgery in July
Hi how did it go
The brain aligns the eyes or turns the eye to stop double vision.
Do it hurt
