The boom is the attachment (the steel boom arms) on the back of the sprayer that actually sprays the chemical.

The trailer sprayers have their own pump, located just in front of the tank.

The boomless nozzles spray 15' each side and they are adjustable. The trailer sprayer also come with a hand wand that can be used for spraying as well.
