Understand what they are trying to do. That being said, Paul Sin didn't mention how much Blue Ala Wai Foundation's project was going to cost the state. Initial and upkeep. And how they are going to deal with the cost of operating the gates, and to keep it from jamming when much of the upstream debris clutters downstream.
Whats the cost difference between the 2 plans? and Who is gonna control these 2 gates? Low tide and high tides are different everyday. U would neep someone to develop a system that could do it automatically with tide data
Okay can we just seriously think for a moment..."we can't pollute wakiki from the rivers." Okay people so let's clean the rivers. We need to take a look at what all is flowing into the ala wai and from where. Fix infrastructure and stop pollutants from flowing into the rivers. We need to collect divert and clean that water and reuse it. 😂😮 This still puts pollution into the ocean...😢 The ala wai does need to outflows i agree 💯 woth that. Of the rivers flow naturally it will be a clean canal and we have to fix the pollution issues too. Right now the ala wai gets stagnant.
There's a lot of questions to be answered regarding this plan. I don't see this happening until a major study is completed because this can affect more people than the flood wall is meant to help. Has anyone considered how climate change would affect this project? May have the build flood walls after this project !
Putting a 6 to 9 foot wall around the Ala Wai would create a ghetto along the canal on the waikiki side... The wall would not prevent flooding. You can not flood the ocean. The level of the canal is equal to the level of the ocean. Our government just wants to spend money for fear of losing it. We would lose the feel of Waikiki if a useless wall were built...
To take what used to be a swamp and try to flush it out with fresh sea water? Not sure about that. The whole area was a marsh/swamp/wetland, what ever you want to call it. There is very little to no flow through the Ala Wai. Turn it back in to a wetland area. Plant things that are supposed to be there that have been removed and let the canal repair itself. Just my two cents.
Great idea regarding the inlet and outlet method 👌🏻👍
This is a great idea. Hope it gets approved. Will keep water flowing through the canal and keeping it clean.
This is absolutely great! Much better than an ugly wall covered in gang tags.
That's exactly what it would be.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Watch the whole video. This is an alternative to the wall idea and it looks good. Just please don’t mess with the zoo.
unfortunately the model wasn’t accurate & the zoo will have to go or move.
there is a mistake in his plan

I like this guy and their idea. All the dodo water flushed out to ala wai harbor, polluted there already
It’s a great idea… if the model were truly accurate. Unfortunately, it isn’t.

Just like the great idea of putting a rail to nowhere that no one will use yet everyone pays for.
Man made disaster
Filthy water
Restore? Preserve?? But it's all manmade. Restore the wetland it used to be.
You can't unscramble an egg. Can you imagine unbuilding modern Waikiki?
Money hungry ....sad
