Andrew its a learning curve I been at it over ten years an still don't like taking a fish out and if I have to put it out as well that just doubles the stress on me not the fish......
Try a dose of CT or PP to strip the mucus a day before, and my preferred treatment is Fluke Solve. HTH If its gill flukes you need to get the eggs after they hatch as well, so make sure you do any nets and do another treatment, temperature dependant ,a few days after.
@@koidiaries brilliant, cheers for the help. Just another quick one, the pond is only 2 weeks old its approx 5000 litres and has 9 8-12 inch koi in. Would the fact the filter isn't yet mature make them flash and rub? Like I sed I've been doing regular parameter checks and all is well. I've just assumed its flukes but not 100%
@@liamrobinson3084 Ok after 2 weeks on a new pond you should have some off the scale Ammonia and Nitrite levels which your kit should be telling you! Dont just treat the pond until you know what it is youre treating for. Flashing could be numerous things, are you dechlorinating fresh water? How much you feeding? Ammonia and Nitrite levels, pH level and of course parasites. If your kit is showing 0 on ammonia and nitrite id get a new kit asap as id bet you its your parameters causing the issues
@@koidiaries yeah I've been treating the water before doing water changes etc, and only been feeding lightly every other day. The ammonia level showed today as 0.2/0.3 and nitrite less then 0.3. So there is a reading but pretty low? I'm sure you can appreciate as a new koi keeper I'm anxious to get it right and the fish to be healthy, I've become obsessed haha
@@liamrobinson3084 Id say small regular water changes and light feeding as you are. Ammonia bugs are quite quick to appear, its the Nitrite ones which take a while so this will take quite a few more weeks to have enough to convert it all. If you suspect parasites you cant see these with your eyes, you'll need a microscope to diagnose these. A new pond requires patience, observations, water tests and more patience.
Good video Andrew, just one thing to note is with the higher temps just to tell people to take extra care when bringing the fish up in the water with the net, they do have a tendency to turn into dolphins at this time of year. Keep it up👍
Yeah should of mentioned this, good point! As mine are pretty chilled out usually didnt think to mention, ooops! Although had a mental Showa few years back, a net anywhere in its sight would have it flying out the pond!!
Belting mate, thats super helpful as I want to catch mine for a measure up at start of spring. Top tips at the end "Keep calm JohnnY" 😂

The music is emense 😉
good video Andrew but would be better if there wasn't the background music as it detracts from what you are saying.
Yeah i think no music on the next ones!! Point noted :-)
Great video next video how to sedate the fish and how to treat them
Definately do an injection how to and recommended antibiotics vid mate
Great video Mr daily,if you have to inject a fish with antibiotics, that would make a good video
Great video, loving the editing in this video, but could be tad quieter
Good video but cut the back ground music out, it ruins the listening of the video
