pretty impressive to see where you guys pushed it, i remember watching crapplemage in like 1h28 or something ! gz, hopefully you'll get a clean start soon !

It is used to time the camera movement. Kalameet is on a cycle going back behind the cliffs and coming back to burn the arena. You don't want to move the camera before he is back behind the cliffs. The reason for this is that we use a glitch with enemy healthbars. Normally if you hit an enemy, their healthbar briefly appears to indicate that you dealt damage. If you hit an enemy without looking at them however, the healthbar appearing is effectively "stored". The healthbar will only appear the next time you look at them instead. This even works through collision. We use this glitch to know when Kalameet comes back for the next cycle. There is a random delay in him coming back, so due to the mountains/cliffs being in the way, we would get to know too late when he is coming back for us to hit him. So instead we hit him, store his healthbar and time our camera movement using the shrug animation so that we see his healthbar the moment he comes back from behind the cliffs. This gives us enough time to get into position and hit his tail. If we moved the camera too early, we would see his healthbar already on his way back behind the cliffs instead, making it impossible for us to know when he's coming back to us. (And the reason we have to stay at the specific spot at the arena: Kalameet has two attacks to burn the arena and they're based on where you are. We stand right at the edge of the area where Kalameet will burn the back of the arena, giving us the attack we want and simultaneously the most time to get into position to hit his tail hitbox.)
I don't know what you've done but a year old video about "new strat" of the speedrun got recommended to me today saying that 1h can be broken soon. I know you weren't the first but anyways, i think you triggered the algorithm so somehow push that video on people. Never played the game once but congratulations on your achievement.
As far as i know: Look at how the Rapier is equipped beforehand. It is a glitch, where you transfer the moveset of the fast Rapier to in this case the Drake Sword :)
Would someone mind explaining how tf that Kalameet strat works? I've never seen someone melee him like that while he's flying- I've only seen him being beaten with ranged weapons.
Kalameet's tail hitbox extends way further down then you would expect. With careful positioning and camera movement it's possible to avoid the breath attack by running under him and attack him from the ground at the same time
I know this doesn't affect the speedrun but are you locked out of the DLC after you beat manus like that and warp out? If you have no dlc bonfires to warp to and manus isn't there to pull you into the DLC...
Yep! It's a great shortcut even in casual play just to get to the black knight quickly. You will miss the gold pine resin, but I usually skip it anyway because I don't like getting the master key
as long as every speedrunner in the community does it it's fine. You would just have a fixed time waste every run that gets worse if your PC is worse. This way it's more fair because longer loadingtimes due to worse hardware don't have such an impact on the final time.
Whenever there is a new route or new tech that saves a good amount of time, yeah. Otherwise my current PB in 100% is too good to try and grind to beat it.
I saw this live when it happened, fantastic run, especially the DLC section!
I saw this guy seeing this run live! Fantastic penis size, especially near the climax!!
What a run, the GOAT is back!
Nice one, GOAT of Dark Souls strikes again !!
It's so ironic that kalameet is easier to kill when he's flying than after he literally gets crippled
Looks easier perhaps when executed well. The flying fight used in this route requires infinitely more practice to do right than the normal fight.
everytime when the ds1 run is done, the endroll soundtrack are insane, hits me everytime. anyways congrats on run Kahmul!
finally! congrats, Kahmul!

Great record for great dedication. 👏👏👏
Awesome run. Congrats
Well done as always.
congrats mul!
deserved run ggs.
ah hell nah!!!! I missed it. Good job, mate!
Can someone please explain the black separation crystal on Kalameet? Is the animation used for timing? Does it mess with the AI or something?

Congrats!

It's kindled
DS3 player I presume?
How can you hit like that at 7:13 or in 21:00 It doesn't work for me (I'm playing with a gamepad).

When you quit out, are there certain areas that load in slower? Just due to enemy density or map complexity?

Is this the only game you play? Just curious. Cuz I’d be interested in watching a guy who’s been doing it for years play some of the newer games .
Gratz!

That's a good question.
Wait is the shortcut to Blue Tearstone Ring in the Remastered version? I had no clue it existed
Yep! It's a great shortcut even in casual play just to get to the black knight quickly. You will miss the gold pine resin, but I usually skip it anyway because I don't like getting the master key
Nice job good Lord
GG Kahmul!!!
oh my fuckin god
Incredible.
Incredible
What is his state 😮
Unbelievable
Doesn't pausing the timer during quit outs defeat the purpose of speed running?
as long as every speedrunner in the community does it it's fine. You would just have a fixed time waste every run that gets worse if your PC is worse. This way it's more fair because longer loadingtimes due to worse hardware don't have such an impact on the final time.
Are you gonna do anymore 100% runs?
Whenever there is a new route or new tech that saves a good amount of time, yeah. Otherwise my current PB in 100% is too good to try and grind to beat it.
Imagine paying full price for a DLC that only gives you barely 5 minutes of playtime! 😄
FullZ
gub
With the new glitches found, do you think a new route could be way faster?
What's going on with his HP?
you forgot pinwheel
Pinwheel don't ever appears on the list
