Didn't get to watch Championship Wrestling from Florida growing up being, and living in Lynchburg Virginia, I grew up watching Jim Crockett Promotions Mid-Atlantic championship wrestling, and JCP's World Wide Wrestling. See they used a lot of the same wrestlers in both outfits. I know JCP bought out CWF in the mid 1980's !! Great stuff, thanks for uploading this clips !!
I remember during one interview Don Moraco came out and eventually attacked Gordon Solie while he had Piper at Solies side. Piper went ballistic and challenged Moraco. He met Moraco in the ring and knocked Moraco out Piper stile. Piper had a roll of quarters in his hand. Awesome moment.
Believe it or not,Piper was in his verbage prime,ie,commentaries, promo, etc, in 81',82,(Georgia championship wrestling),83,84.;charisma,entertainer,quick witted, second to none.
WNJU..LINDEN NEWARK...was Channel 47 an all Hispanic station in the NY.NJ..area .They showed Wrestling from Fla. on Tuesday nights at 11.pm...Great Memories!!
I was watching in NJ at this time. I used to have lots of shows on VHS but they got lost over the years. If you remember, channel 41, another Hispanic station, also aired Lucha Libre (Wrestling) except theirs was in Spanish. I think it might have been from Mexico.
@@GlobalTubeTruth I watched both of the shows you mention on cable TV in Connecticut in 75-77. Vince Sr gave Eddie Graham permission to run CWF on WNJU only if the shows were on a month's delay so they would not hurt the WWWF gates....great stuff!
Such a great interview! Let's see today's writers write anything close to this? How many people would be crying about what he said? Guess what that's exactly what he wants!!!
I agree it is a great interview. I cannot believe that WWE owns most of the old territory tape libraries and do not have someone use some of these ideas for promos and interviews today. If you acquire the tape libraries and let them sit in a vault somewhere then do not complain about you have nothing to get ideas from.
Championship Wrestling from Florida aired in the New York City/Northern New Jersey area for about 11 years on WNJU-TV Channel 47 which has its license in Linden, NJ. At the time, it was an independent UHF Spanish language station. It is now a part of Telemundo. WWWF Championship Wrestling and All-Star Wrestling also aired on Channel 47 for many years until Championship Wrestling secured a spot on WOR-TV Channel 9 in New York in 1975.
I missed all that good stuff. I'm only around since 78 and only remember WWF from the mid 80s. So I just read Len Denton's book and digging for footage of the territories from the 70's and 80's.
This was shortly after Piper's face turn in Georgia. Ole Anderson who was booking both Georgia and Mid Atlantic fired Piper in Georgia for being late to a house show and using recreational drugs. Anderson then blackballed Piper from those two areas. Piper showed up here in Florida because Anderson had no influence with Eddie Graham. Piper only stayed in Florida only a few weeks until Jimmy Crockett overruled Anderson and brought Piper back to Mid-Atlantic.
too bad he didn't do a long run in Fla.imagine he and Sullivan and Rhodes working stories for 83 and 84. mid atlantic was good but Fla was way more innovative and allowed talent to be creative.fla was edgier and just better than Crockett nwa
Irrepressible spirit... always thought Piper reflected that potential for momentary insanity in all of us .. always ready to come out and pound someone.
There was only one Roddie Pipper. Not as good as Ric Flair but almost as good!!! Ric Flair, The Rock, Ricky Steamboat, Greg Valentine, and Roddy Pipper were the greatset wrestlers of all time!!!!!
Piper was pure gold in the NWA way before heading north.
I loved that he was heel in Florida and a face in the Mid Atlantic at this time
And a face in Georgia too for a brief stop in late summer '83.
"So i looks around and no Mike Graham!"😂😂😂😂😂
Piper was so great during this era

i asks myself mr solie, why am i wasting my time

Piper was unreal as a heel.
I miss Gordon Solie and Roddy Piper. They made Pro wrestling watchable.
Two Legends RIP!
Controversial...crazed... unhinged...and more than a tad maniacal.
Yep! That was "The Rowdy Scot", "Rowdy" Roddy Piper!!!
Piper was a great heel talker.
GREATEST WRESTLER OF ALL TIMES

I can't believe the Rowdy one has passed. He like Dusty did so much to improve wrestling. They unlike todays were fun to watch.
That clip you mentioned is on here. Look up "Piper face turn in Georgia Championship Wrestling".
one of the best Heel/Face turns ever.
Believe it or not,Piper was in his verbage prime,ie,commentaries, promo, etc, in 81',82,(Georgia championship wrestling),83,84.;charisma,entertainer,quick witted, second to none.
He looks like a used car salesman in that jacket lmao
I started laughing when piper talked like rufus and the headbutt.
Looks like a huge Fudgesicle for a microphone. Great interview!!!
Piper was awesome RIP😢
piper greatest of all time period

I NEVER knew until this moment they showed this! I'm pissed!!! LOL!

Yes!!! This was mind blowing when out of nowhere Piper is on FL wrestling. 12 yo me couldn't handle it!!
Such a great interview! Let's see today's writers write anything close to this? How many people would be crying about what he said? Guess what that's exactly what he wants!!!

I ain't never been beat in NUTHIN, Not even Tiddly Winks! LOL
I get a dollar for every time Roddy Chuckles in the middle of his sentences
Mox sounds more like Piper here than MJF does
I needs a place to fight , lol
WHAT! He was in Florida?
Sheepherders...you're in for a treat
Was he in Georgia at the same time here?
uh ...uh....huh...Mike Graham...uh....huh....Piper makes me laugh with the huh gasps.
I WONDER WHY RODDY PIPER STAY WAS SO SHORT IN CWF?
Probably selling an injury or suspension in the Carolina’s and was down on a vacation
No problem Danny!
Why did Newark NJ pop up?

Probably during the time after Ole fired Roddy from Georgia
what year was this?
philip sparagna It was in 1983.
1983
piper was pinned by snuka, andre, flair, putski and brett in the wwf. and many times by rose and youngblood in the nortwest. and chavo in l.a.
