    Each states culture and experience can vary drastically. Even Chicago’s culture is total opposite from Southern Illinois. U.S is a good place to make money and then come back to Africa to invest. I enjoyed the interview.

      This is so true .. it is a mistake to decide spending an entire life there for us immigrants, the invest home idea is better

    She made a good point about coming to the US. You can have a social life here but we are constantly busy. Also Betty asked about the fish. Unfortunately, it's mostly frozen and not always fresh. You have to go to Alaska or Seattle. At least in Africa, you can have fish markets where it's caught and sold the same day (fresh).

    Great interview. I noticed that most African men that bring their girlfriends or wives to the United States will first inform them about the American culture because if their lady friend is beautiful , they most definitely will have competition from the Americans so they mostly try to keep them on a short string until they learn the system in America and get Americanized. America has a spirit over it that will influence whoever comes to America.

      That's true. Don't bring your potential spouse to the states if things or not solid . I have a friend from Nigeria that brought his wife to America and it didn't take long for her to change once she befriended some Americans women, he ended up sending her back to Nigeria.

    Here is my take on what she experienced on arrival. When did she come, was it in the late 2000s , was it after her university education in Uganda? I find it hard that someone can leave Uganda or Africa , travel to the west, and still have beliefs of getting free cars or property on the street etc etc. Unless you are under 16 years . Even if you grew up in Uganda, you should be well informed about life in America or Canada, Europe especially in the digital age of social media. I came to the U.S. in 2000 in high school , I was 16 but I was well informed about the west. My expectations were not too high. I knew there are homeless people in America, people living in poverty, unemployed folks etc etc culture shock yeah but I wasn't surprised by the struggles people endure in America.

    She wasn't ready for this interview! She has kept dodging every question and had made it boring!!! Best person to interview is one who real suffered and later succeeded, will be in position to give answers for both extremes!

    The only culture shock was how fast paced everything was from work, school system, leisure and the brutal weather on the east coast not forgetting systemic racism , and violence in major metropolis. Chicago as of now is the most violent city in the country, has been past couple of years. Murder rate keeps climbing. When you are in Africa, you think America is a peaceful country but murder rates in major metropolis like NYC, Chicago, LA, St Louis, Miami , Detroit on average are over 400 killed in each city annually. Black Lives Matter movement unmasked the true picture of a racially dividend America. It's never a level playing field , too much discrimination, racism, police brutality, racial profiling. Like they say, not everything that glitters is gold.
    But living in this digital era, folks in Africa are well informed about the true picture of America or Europe, Asia. I don't think people are ignorant like it was in the 80s or 90s.

    USA is great place to be no matter whatsoever is. Is just peoples come in USA with many ideas but when they see reality becomes different for what they thought about. And what it regret we want to learn outside culture when person comes in but than that our girls even men change and follow what’s in USA culture witch again USA doesn’t have culture on is on

    Mad Racist. You'd never know till u get here like she said. And not everybody racist tho. But yeah, it's a struggle. Mainly with the lifestyle. Adjustment n all! There's no freedom here like y'all got it back home, no cap! Like back home rich or broke, you r your own self unlike here. With alil money or not, u still feel like u belong to a certain system and u not as free as u would normally be. And it's alot more boring than home trust me! Even the fun spots ain't as lit as back home and they close mad quick!
    NOTE: I noticed u guys ask alot about why people came here. That's not a safe qn to ask coz u can never tell what mess you'd put in anybody unknowingly. Bano abantu balaba buli kimu. Just felt y'all should know

    • @nateShabazz
      @nateShabazz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And your qualifications from home don't count here. Actually our education is better than theirs here. But they consider their GED and SAT's

    • @nateShabazz
      @nateShabazz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've faced alot of racism. It's deep rooted in.. I remembered seeing white folk back home and think they super nice but that COMMON SMILE they give u, is fake it's more of them scared and stereotyping u or they lowkey asking u to back off, don't go past that smile. They don't want any conversation with u so that smile is to back u off.
      Seafood is nice but meant in general is better and more fresh and organic back home. All this shit here taste different and less cool, don't let the looks fool u.

    • @nateShabazz
      @nateShabazz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah health is pretty awesome here. I got into a bad accident and if I wasn't here, I prolly woulda been dead. And u got insurance and all that but at the same time, that's more money out off what u make. So money comes in and it goes right out. Like u'd happy knowing they gon pay u hourly and give u your check or direct deposit weekly or bi-weekly coz u don't get it like that back home but at the end of the day, they gone cut mad taxes and bills out too. And u can still work Overtime naye the more overtime, the higher the cut too. Lol it's a cycle and fully organized system that benefits them alot. Naye it's something. But for our people back home, they never understand why u would say u don't have money to send coz they think u make money and get paid faster lol, the faster it comes, the faster it goes too but at the end of the day, u know how to balance and survive
