It kinda sucks that a lot of KinitoPet is tied to steam, and a lot of what he does that is tied to you being very open and relaxed with your pc. Obvious ones are having your location turned on or having a camera. Another is the "Who would you rather kill?" It chooses from your friends list but if you have a lot of friends you dont actually know like for the grumps, it doesnt really mean anything. Another one is "What is your favorite game?" If you actually have said game installed on your pc the computer in the house office that Kinito makes will be displaying said game. Ive seen a streamer answer with "Helldivers 2" and the pc actually showed the picture of HD2
mine didnt see Baldurs Gate 3 and slapped Pathfinder wrath of the righteous on there (i have both installed) which was pretty funny and concerningly fitting imo
Believe it or not, there are three endings! The grumps took the bad ending, which is called "Trapped". The other two are "No Escape", when you say no to Kinito, and what is considered the best ending, "Bliss": you deleting kinito when you are at the point where he asks for administrator permissions. But the best ending is gonna take a lot more steps, since in order to delete Kinito... you need to play the game two or more times. Which will then lead you to a quest to find some floppy discs that contain the codes to deleting Kinito. But I know that's gonna be a really long ride, so I respect the grumps' decision in stopping here.
That's wicked cool. In the end, I'm just glad Arin had a lot of genuine fun! while Dan is once again probably going to sleep with the lights on tonight xxD
What's crazy is my and my best friend did a stream that wrapped up 1 hour before Gamegrumps posted their first episode of playing this. We played through the whole game and got all 3 endings, the stream was 7 and a half hours :3 @elevate_show if you wanna watch the vod :D
I love ARG’s man. It took me an hour last night to decipher the keyboard cipher in one of the emails you get from obtaining a floppy disk. Brings me back to the days of having to figure things out yourself without having a walkthrough.

I never got the hang of Minesweeper as a kid, but last episode of this finally explained why the numbers were even included. Took me 20+ years. Started playing it again on my phone and I’m actually beating levels now. Thanks Dan and Arin

Couldn't help but notice Sam and Max Save The World on Arin's desktop. I hope that's their next series. The last Sam and Max playthrough was super chill and fun. You can never go wrong with Dan and classic point-and-click adventures!

So in the section where it asks “Can you trust everything skabbo says,” it’s supposed to pull a random name from your contacts I believe. So I’m guessing skabbo is likely the username of someone you know. The effect didn’t really track since you didn’t recognize it, but I think it’s actually a very cool feature! ETA: it’s also what’s happening where you’re asked to choose between dmeltesen and NachoJack. I’m guessing it grabs them from your steam friendslist. It’s much more impactful if you have a few friends you know on there, versus probably a hundred or so random strangers lol.

When I was really young I had an idea for a horror game that connected to your phone (landline, lol), and would have included a camera accessory. This was the 90s so the most common consumer camera that connects to something digital was the Gameboy Camera. The big reveal at the end would be that it would call you, speak to you, and reveal where the killer is, which would activate the camera and turn it to you. I don't remember if you (the player) were the killer, or if it was intended to give you a "behind you"/"near you" sort of jump scare. Maybe some sort of Haunted Mansion sort of additional figure display? I don't recall. Obviously there were millions of reasons why this was unfeasible at the time, not the least of which that I was a kid with no programming experience, and would be difficult even still today, but damn if KinitoPET isn't a damn good implementation of digital+immersive horror similar to what I thought of like 25 years ago.

It definitely feels like the dev was greatly inspired by Buddy Simulator 1984 in some key areas, particularly the back half of this episode. It's neat seeing similar concepts go in a different direction (and decade) like this. Now I kinda wanna see the Grumps play Buddy Sim, but it might be a bit too long for them.

I like the detail of some of the questions being stuff scammers might ask to get answers to security questions, like favourite pet/ pet name, favourite colour, friend's name. Just a reminder to either never put real answers into security questions, or to never give the same answers you use to any random person online :D
Unfortunately there are a couple typos in this game still, like categories having a Y or "are experiences" when it should be OUR experiences. And "your" instead YOU'RE!
I wanted the webcam part to work so bad so we could finally get an episode of Game Grumps with facecam, absolute shame, we haven’t gotten that since M&Ms Beach Party.
I hope they play Boyfriend Dungeon. No it’s not what it sounds like. It’s a game where people turn into weapons. It’s pretty fun! Plus I feel like the boys would have fun with it lol
honestly KinitoPET was quite a charming game. It didn't overplay the "marketed to children aspect" like PP or really any other horror game. It was just uniquely itself and really did feel like a desktop companion, just not a safe companion. I loved the little song at the end. Free Kinito he ain't do nothin' wrong he just loves us a little too hard!
I mean thats not out of the realm of an afterlife if it was actually ideal. You'd just be in some type of perfect world and you'd have no idea you were dead because well dying is traumatic.
gaml grumpos, if thou art confused somewhat about thine video games ending: you got the "bad" ending, kinito sucked your soul into the game/world he made for you and you are now stuck forever being Best Friends with him. theres another ending in which you do some ARG stuff and find codes and get passwords to ungrant kinito system access and then delete him to get the "good" ending
I know that it would probably result directly in Arin's death, but just once I'd love them to actually like knock the lights out and have somebody crawl out from under the couch or something.
Find it very interesting to see a game run with blunders. Like the lack of webcam or the fact Arin didn't have his location permissions on his computer so the illusion of getting it is ruined proving that the program is literally just a program. Kinito just rolls with it, acting like he got what he wanted. It's almost like when a bit of a show goes wrong but you have to act like the mistake was all part of the plan! Would be interesting if a game like this also developed responses to when things don't go exactly to plan so at least it appears more self aware!
I don't know what "illusion" is getting ruined for you unless you're a fetus. This is just streamer bait, made for streamers to pretend like they're scared to entertain four year olds.
[NOT me snooping Arin's actual desktop] I love that Arin is VERY much a variety gamer. I've never understood why so many gamers lock into one game or genre. No shade, but to me it's just so much more interesting having a wide variety of experiences in any kind of media. That said, being a variety gamer also gets very expensive, and FOMO can 100% keep you from ever completing some games.
It's truly incredible that they actually managed to put Arin's ACTUAL fear, rising monotone noises getting closer and faster, in the game at 41:32. I dunno if that was on purpose but it feels like anything could be.
Man, I know these "meta" games are starting to gain popularity, but still, each one catches me off guard in a different way every time. mad respect for the folks who designed this game, and also normal fishing game. great stuff.

When I was really young I had an idea for a horror game that connected to your phone (landline, lol), and would have included a camera accessory. This was the 90s so the most common consumer camera that connects to something digital was the Gameboy Camera. The big reveal at the end would be that it would call you, speak to you, and reveal where the killer is, which would activate the camera and turn it to you. I don't remember if you (the player) were the killer, or if it was intended to give you a "behind you"/"near you" sort of jump scare. Maybe some sort of Haunted Mansion sort of additional figure display? I don't recall.
Obviously there were millions of reasons why this was unfeasible at the time, not the least of which that I was a kid with no programming experience, and would be difficult even still today, but damn if KinitoPET isn't a damn good implementation of digital+immersive horror similar to what I thought of like 25 years ago.

It definitely feels like the dev was greatly inspired by Buddy Simulator 1984 in some key areas, particularly the back half of this episode. It's neat seeing similar concepts go in a different direction (and decade) like this. Now I kinda wanna see the Grumps play Buddy Sim, but it might be a bit too long for them.

honestly KinitoPET was quite a charming game. It didn't overplay the "marketed to children aspect" like PP or really any other horror game. It was just uniquely itself and really did feel like a desktop companion, just not a safe companion. I loved the little song at the end. Free Kinito he ain't do nothin' wrong he just loves us a little too hard!

gaml grumpos, if thou art confused somewhat about thine video games ending:
you got the "bad" ending, kinito sucked your soul into the game/world he made for you and you are now stuck forever being Best Friends with him.
theres another ending in which you do some ARG stuff and find codes and get passwords to ungrant kinito system access and then delete him to get the "good" ending
all in all, he really did just want to be best friends with you.
even if the way he went about it was really convoluted and very incorrect.
I know that it would probably result directly in Arin's death, but just once I'd love them to actually like knock the lights out and have somebody crawl out from under the couch or something.
Find it very interesting to see a game run with blunders. Like the lack of webcam or the fact Arin didn't have his location permissions on his computer so the illusion of getting it is ruined proving that the program is literally just a program. Kinito just rolls with it, acting like he got what he wanted.
It's almost like when a bit of a show goes wrong but you have to act like the mistake was all part of the plan!
Would be interesting if a game like this also developed responses to when things don't go exactly to plan so at least it appears more self aware!

[NOT me snooping Arin's actual desktop] I love that Arin is VERY much a variety gamer. I've never understood why so many gamers lock into one game or genre. No shade, but to me it's just so much more interesting having a wide variety of experiences in any kind of media. That said, being a variety gamer also gets very expensive, and FOMO can 100% keep you from ever completing some games.
