      I feel like you did a good job all together, my only suggestion would be to take time and really drive home via a change in cadence and tone shifts between the various personalities. The pacing might be a tad slower but can really help enhance the quality of storytelling, just don't take thirty minutes to say one paragraph like oxhorn lmao.

      I have to say that, no matter the particular lore subject, you do a remarkable job presenting them. Whether it's a 3 minute story about Ruzka The Wonder Bear, to the 40 minute story of Clark, the Survivalist, your attention to detail is second to none. Your script (and it's reading, of course), the scenes used during particular descriptions, and the entire production value, bring the Fallout universe to life like few others can do.
      Excellent work as always, Sir! o7

    In my mind Dog/God's story is a very human story about how trauma fractures a person. Pain can make one blind in an effort to protect them: Dog lives his life in an unsustainable whirlwind of adrenaline and strength. However untenable it might be in the long term it allows him to survive.
    God on the other hand is able to think about his situation and act accordingly, however it is unbearable for him to exist in such a state and his fear of what Dog might do when he inevitably loses control makes him volatile, cynical and aggressive.
    I'm just being an armchair psychologist but I found his character very thought provoking and it made me reflect on myself and how we as humans * cope *
    It's a touching story (depending on how it plays out I suppose) and I find it wonderful how the least human heist member has the most emotionally complex backstory.

    The story of Dog and God always struck a cord within me. As a person who always struggled with his own grasp of personal autonomy, caught in the throes of two masters, one that sought to be liked, and one that sought freedom. This game really rewards those who fight with words, and this story's end was truly rewarding.

    I think the name God has a deeper meaning than just an inverse of Dog. Some people believe that everyone has "God" inside of them, which takes the form of a higher self, which is what the character God is; Dog's higher self.

      @GojiraBiscuits. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I like to believe that God was an entity that existed in a universe of nothing & out of despair or loneliness split itself into an unbelievable amount of atoms that then attached themselves to all living things in the universe essentially becoming our soul. That's why most people believe in some form of god/gods. because we all have a piece of that energy within us. We are all connected in ways we are yet to understand, everything in this universe is alive & everything must die in order to lay the foundations of matter & carbon that will then support the creation of new life. & so the cycle must go on.
      Don't believe the false gods of the countless religions on this planet. You are your own god, Just don't let it consume you.

    Honestly it kind of feels like God/Dog. Was probably just a child when they were captured by The Master and turned into a Nightkin super mutant. It would explain why Dog is mentally a child. Dog is the sad, broken child who avoids the pain through disassociation and giving into his base urges that give his brain adrenaline and seretonin to suppress his mental agony of what he was. And God being his remaining humanity and conscious fighting to take control and find a way to heal itself. I'm glad that eventually they did manage to become one mind again. But it saddens me to think that a child was forced to suffer such a horrible life.

    I love Dog and God and how every ending for the character goes. Their death and merged endings put them at peace, Dog's ending is a horror movie, and God goes to leave with other mutants. Not a single ending I didn't enjoy. Dead Money was the peak of fallout character writing to me. God also roasts the hell outta Dean which is very satisfying at the fountain.

      God is as big a coward as Dean is though. Locks himself in a cage waiting for Elijah, despite having had multiple opportunities to kill Elijah before. Even if he physically cannot manifest while Elijah is around, it still makes him look dumb for hiding in the cage and expecting things to be different.
      I like his character a lot, but God is all talk. He's less effective in combat than Dog, he bitches at you more than Dog, he talks big and threatens you even while just walking around. It makes me want to slap him in the face with a bear trap.

    Thinking of the super mutants in the series, the west coast mutants really just don’t have anything to live for besides banter, watching their species dwindle and maybe repeating some tribute in the past.
    The only good mutants I can think of is Lilly who remembers her family, and Tab who wants to explore the wasteland with Ronda.
    Marcus really lives for no reason than making settlements for a species destined to die- which he never comments on.
    The second Gen mutants actually seem much better at life than the first Gen as they focus on day to day food, small banter and so on that they enjoy, they being Brain damaged really can’t think of thoughts on their species or origins while the first Gen can, but really aren’t interested in solving it- 343 stated in halo 1 ‘maybe we deserve to be forgotten’ but the super mutants don’t even say that.
    The 76 mutants have parties, hunt and murder- and they really hate the BOS as they hate the military for Huntersville- wonder why they took the raider in American army uniform there along with other skeletons?
    They live for resentment or some small revenge, or some myth of a prewar world that they’ve been saying- it’s probably the leaky pipes that turned them into mutants is what bled into the caves and created the scorched beast (yes it did that, it’s lore accurate)
    Fallout 3’s mutants has a monk, one who’s named after a person who wrote on human rights and was a former dweller who’s been locked up.
    The rest live for short pleasures and thrills, enjoying- as Three dog says ‘good fights’
    4’s mutants don’t have much of a reason and seem to have lost their reason, besides some few- they’re more like abandoned children- ‘the cult of the abandoned children’ as I call them- tribute to the children of the cathedral in fallout 1.
    The smart one on Far Harbor seem more at peace and taking in the world, the seasons and weather, training hounds- he’s really contented.
    God seems to just be resentful, Dog seems fearful and short thrill of eating, the combination just seems to be a dull mutant, but is soft spoken- we really don’t know what came of him but he’ll probably die in the fog.
    Atis in fallout brotherhood recognized the simple act of breeding is threat to the human species and sought it- as a means of a future for the species as it’s means of defense is nothing more than their simple bodies alone as few things can compete in a outright fight against them on a one on one fight- his mutants and his men were United in this goal, and few shared that philosophy- he even took the natural philosophy of the LT and the master further by explaining his views in analogy ‘the mouse that hunts lions’ and sayings claps to the natural world.
    ‘Natural’ as the world can get as it defies nature of the stars, space- this is shown as life in the sky and the life’s mark on rocks.
    I’d not for life we wouldn’t have the atmosphere- we would’ve became Venus and lost our water to the stars, our rocks would’ve never dulled and remained sharp such as on the moon.
    If life’s influence has extended past one planet such as earth, one has to wonder how much of it has shaped the universe in ways it naturally was not meant to change such as earth- oceans of water wouldn’t have been that way, erosion of plants and animals walking through the planet, digging- without life the world wouldn’t look the way that it does today.
    One would have to ask how far space would be if life has already occupied past its stars or even its influence has spread to other stars- bacteria brings mold, mold to plants and plants to change pockets of the universe and what those pockets may change, how much of the universe and of life- if any of life is what we would call ‘natural’

      @Ryan Byrd ‘resources’ is kinda a copout story wise.
      Read Black Isles original fallout 3 script- seeing as they were cheated out of making fallout 2…
      Play fallout 1, Brotherhood- then 2 and new vegas. The first two are made by Black Isles, the other two by Interplay and Interplay’s refugees.
      Ceasar’s philosophy and so on against House’s philosophy, NCR of fallout 2’s development and so on.
      Look at the companions of fallout 1 vs fallout 2, Brotherhood’s story against fallout 2 as who’s the proper sequel.

    • @silent_stalker3687
      @silent_stalker3687 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Ryan Byrd the institute really didn’t fight for resources, they were limited by them- they more or less fought one fight for resources but that’s about it.
      The lack of resources limited their experiments and ability to use their tech, summary what they believed was ‘hey the world is dying, might as well use the remaining people as we see fit for scientific progress’
      Basically a doomsday predictive cult that is for science at every turn- almost every turn as the director sees fit.
      The railroad are freedom fanatics that seek freedom of one thing at the cost and neglect of others- and yes the ‘liberate toasters’ was a thing.
      Summary if we had robots that looked and acted like people they would go for ‘robot rights’
      Make those robots not look human and they instantly loose interest.
      The brotherhood basically are fallout 3’s Outcast and really go out of their way to try and seize tech- unlike the west coast which they learned from, the east coast Outcast don’t seem to settle in bunkers and rather go out on extreme risks to ensure some tech is contained or understood.
      They did believe Synths were a hoax or myth like the slavers in fallout 3 until they got to the commonwealth.
      Also I really can’t stand Zimmer ‘the commonwealth’ and so on, they retconed it to be like Blade Runner.
      The railroad was underground- not the Institute, maybe the government was running at the time and that’s why- but Bethesda should’ve kicked it’s date down the line by like 40 years at least.
      Main game: biggest quest relates to the commonwealth.
      Point lookout: ghoul goes to commonwealth to settle scores
      Broken steel: Li goes to commonwealth
      The Pitt: “our industry is the envy of the commonwealth”
      Operation: General’s terminal, simulations made in the commonwealth.
      Zeta: I think one of the characters is from the commonwealth
      Game of the year edition guide: character information shows commonwealth related characters.
      Fallout 4 unlike 3 had a single head of it, fallout 3 was more structured by 3 heads- think rivet city council.
      With fallout 4’s failure they kinda returned to the original fallout 3 leads- kinda but not quite if I remember but this is really old information.
      Summary we basically have a Indie studio in comparison making fallout 76 which is a improvement especially since they have been in it for a year or two so they have some familiarity with the series or at least their factions and world.

      I always try to avoid fighting and killing any super mutants in FNV. Im always happy to see the good ending for Jacobstown where i manage to help the Nightkin with the cure and seeing it become a safe haven for their kind is always nice since it means they'll create good relations with the other factions of the Mojave and co-exist togheter, even visiting the Strip or the other districts around it for trading or mercenary work. Atleast they'll have a better future since like the Ghouls they too live a long time.

      @@unfortunatecircumstances8870 I never said the Dog aspect was the most emotional bit, not once. I said the DLC had the best emotional feel, as in, the whole DLC. I stand by what I said.
      Sure, Clark's story is sad, but just reading a dead man's lore and then finding his spoopy skellington doesn't hit home for me like say, Christine/Veronica's story, the story behind Sinclair and Vera, the countless environmental storytelling set pieces, and the ending slideshow. That ending slideshow is the most tear-jerking in all of Fallout.
      That DLC left me feeling both despair and hope, love and hate, and I cannot say many other pieces of video game content has done that in what amounts to a 3 hour DLC adventure lol. This is all personal opinion of course. My experience with Dead Money is my own. Many people say they hate the DLC. I will never understand why.
      Not to mention the fact that Dead Money has ties throughout the base game and all the subsequent DLC to come. Super underrated dlc.

    • @unfortunatecircumstances8870
      @unfortunatecircumstances8870 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Miss_Claire "Reading a dead man's lore and finding their spooping skeleton just doesn't hit the same" Uh, isn't that *literally* what you do in Dead Money? You read about Vera and Sinclair through holotapes and audio logs. Christine is interesting to me, and definitely sorta sad, but I wouldn't say it's on par with Clark or Vera's story. I don't really mean to prove you wrong or anything though. Just my opinion.
      I agree, it just seemed like you were talking about Dog/God specifically since this is a video about them.
      Personally I can't decide which story is more heart wrenching, but Dead Money is hands down my favorite dlc in terms of story and atmosphere. Just wish it wasn't such a pain in the ass to play.

      It's really just because of technical limitations. The companions in the dlc aren't covered by the vanilla script.

    • @OuzoVodka16
      @OuzoVodka16 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@unfortunatecircumstances8870 That's possible, but it is also a deadline issue : the devs hadn't much time to complete the game in 18 months, they had to cut a lot of content. Look for Ulysses for example, he was supposed to be a Legion companion in the main game but they included him in the Lonesome Road DLC.

    Cliche "wish I could have that first playthrough feeling again".
    (Took my time; explored, found and read notes/terminals and dialogue, put as much of the lore together as possible, escaped the vault and luckily managed the "best" ending)
    Standing at the fountain, crushed, since I don't even get to talk to any of the companions before leaving. Specifically Christine, if not to convince her to leave, then at least to tell her about Veronica (who _ALWAYS_ gets Vera's dress for this reason, it's the closest you can get to "reuniting" them). After looking around all the areas, I give up and leave. Back at the bunker, I activate the radio, hoping it'll take me back, but I get Christine's message instead.
    Oh I cried like a baby 🤣. It all finally clicked. "Finding it, that's not the hard part. It's letting go..."
    The entire game is a masterpiece, but this moment is what placed the game, and Obsidian, in my heart forever (later reinforcement by one Mr. Randall Clark).
