I flew to Kazakhstan for the first time because of Dimash's concert.
the concert was world class, just spectacular, almost 4 hours.
Dimash is a musical wizard, both this song and Story of one sky were heard for the first time. It was powerful, first of all, the 30-meter-high holograms, for me it was the baritone that sounded the most powerful, resounding over the whole city of Almaty. Just an amazing experience. Dimash on stage means four hours of extraterrestrial experience. And his high soprano notes, they vibrate through the air and pierce the body like a wave and carry you along, an unreal feeling. It was one psychologist who commented that the Dimash vibration works at an angelic frequency and has a real healing effect.

@@mariannab6906 Funny that you say that. I've always felt that Dimash ruined music for me but in a good way. Every song I listen to now vocally can't compare to what we hear from Dimash. I see a lot of reactors saying that he's singing pop style but for me other than his operatic style at the beginning and end the middle section comes across as more "fusion" than pop. Such a generational talent and we get to hear him during our lifetime!

What mind-blowing versatility he has. I adore the baritone register and I wish he would use it more. This performance leaves me wondering who the true Dimash is. I know all the identities are real, but the baritone sound just seems more authentic and speaks to me. People like vocal fireworks though. I, for one, don't always need my mind blown again. Dimash has done that many times already, Sometimes I want to feel that the performer is speaking directly to my heart, and here it almost happened.

    • @FretsOnFire
      @FretsOnFire ปีที่แล้ว +14

For me, it's like when Dimash is in one register, I think he's the best there, but when he switches & is in a different register, then I start thinking "no, he's the best here!" Actually, he's perfect in every register, so it's hard to objectively compare. But I must admit, there's something in that baritone.....🔥⚡🌋🤯

    • @DiaLinwen
      @DiaLinwen ปีที่แล้ว +4

@FretsOnFire For me too. Yet, I think it's important to remember that actually he is not a baritone but a tenor. Both he and his teacher said so. It also becomes clear when you listen to most of his live performances - they are much more in tenor and soprano range because it's easier and more natural for him. The same when he sings acapella or improvises. If baritone was a more natural register to him, he would definitely use it much more. So the fact that being a tenor he still can produce such a beautiful baritone is amazing.

Dimash is a miracle, so his absolute powerful and unshakable presence on stage, compared by some to a god of music, sometimes to a prince or king, the energy he absorbs from the Universe, then how he anchors himself to the Earth, his connection with the Divinity, all at a place, it gives him the strength and confidence to "command the audience, to order the orchestra, to order the song", so that everything comes out the way he wants and how Dimash feels, that is unique. All these qualities are only at Dimash, absolutely. The goosebumps and hypnosis induced by Dimash are the characteristics of his concerts and appearance on stage, which are shaped by his endless beauty, sometimes translucent, sometimes sensual, sometimes angelic !!! Dimash is storm, thunder, lightning, sun, rain, smile, but also love and last but not least he is our hope and our daily light, he is our spiritual food when you put your head on the pillow and start dreaming like tomorrow it's a day… !!!!! Dimash has God's kiss on his heart!!!!
Dimash's cerebral hemisphere are like the mathematics of song. The precision, the climax of the pieces, the breath control, all are mathematical. Nothing higher, nothing lower. Absolute accuracy !!! Not to mention, he has the number of destiny 7, the number of God. One more proof that Dimash is sent by God in the art of love through song!!!

I was at Dimash's concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022. There were two premieres of songs, the music for which was written by Dimash himself. We, the audience, had not yet come to our senses from the song "The Story of One Sky", as all the lights went out in the stadium, and a giant figure of Dimash in black appeared in the dark. The beautiful to the point of madness "El Amor En Ti" began. This song was an absolute surprise, because no one knew about its existence in advance. I've never seen a performance like this.. It is necessary, someone came up with the idea for four vocal parts to create four fantastic images: Giant Dimash in black (they say, the projection was the height of a 7-storey house) - fatal, philosophical, wise in life experience. Dimash in white (a little smaller, about the height of a 5-storey building) is full of life and the desires of youth, energetic and romantic. Dimash in red (equal in height to white) - the link between youth and maturity, a burning heart, a fire in the blood. And the unexpected fourth Dimash is a small living person against the background of giant figures. The whole unusualness and trick in this song was that high-class academic classical singing with baritone, tenor and soprano was combined with singing in the style of pop. And it was so cute that you want to listen to it and listen endlessly. Greetings from Almaty, Kazakhstan

Wonderful review, William. I am a lucky man in that I tend to draw to me men and even, the occasional!, woman who arguably are quantified by the term usually attributed to that portion of humanity referred to by the rest of humanity as being geniuses.
Each of them are superlative in their respective realms of endeavor - one even received an Academy Award once upon a time.
They all share, personality wise similar personality traits - kind, undeniably understanding of human failings and the challenges that we all face - sharp mentally as a tack and faster than a speeding locomotive too!
The fun part for me is that, though I don't have any particular expertise in their specialities beyond a superficial level, is that when I am with them for the always too short times we sadly are is that, I get to enter their worlds and catch a glimpse of the wonder and grandeur of the rich and myriad realities they live within and understand so well and so far beyond my mein to begin to comprehend.
My realms, incidentally, are understanding people, mentoring young men, writing and creating fine art - seemingly diverse and divergent but, not really, since they have a common thread; they all require mental intuition, imagination and sensitivity to salient, ephemeral details and motivations - both revealed and hidden, secreted away.
This is why I enjoy your reviews because, though I can appreciate what Dimash is about; with my paltry accompaniment and lack of formal, musical, singing training? I am still like a window shopper on the outside looking in.
You, help me to enter the store so to speak and gain greater insights and thus appreciation of what is going on - akin to what my merry band of aforementioned mentioned friends do for me!
    Thank you.

    • @erik1836
      @erik1836 ปีที่แล้ว

@BangkokVoiceCoach I am actually but, in the form of a novel entitled Bonanza in the Bronx.
It is one of those "based on a true story" stories you hear tell about, Will.
It will chronicle - with a nice dollop of fiction and adventure thrown in - the saga of a less than young 4th Gen American who mentors a band of young men - brothers all - by different mothers - who came to America from the hinterlands - from back of beyond places; far away from the lights of Broadway!
(SEE? What you started! What you have forced me to do for you?)
Each of "the boys", separately and unbeknownst to each other, set out from their distant, disparate origin points for America to, in the hope of becoming, of being all they can be, were born to aspire to - be - as good men naturally want and tend to want to do.
Realizing that, even though they - with the levels of intelligence, drive and integrity they possessed; abilities to understand the cultures they were born into and raised up in - could have very easily managed and lived "high on the hog", but that wasn't enough for each of them because? Well, there is a funny little word that makes all the difference in a virtuous, young man's life - as we all know - that the best of the best lads born have to have, or it all gets to the point of being a life lived with no real point. What's that word? Freedom.
Freedom to think and do as they see fit rather than being told how they must act to fit in to a rigid, sometimes totalitarian, dictator ruled culture or one rife with religiosity that is stultifying, straitjacketing rather than uplifting and freeing of one's heart, soul and mind.
So - off they all set - as countless before have done to seek the fulfillment of their dreams; not knowing what they would find when they arrived in the land of opportunity - the land known as America - the land of the free and the home of the brave - as it was reported in a thousand different ways and forums when back in their homelands.
But what, to their dismays did they find once they arrived? That America - though always willing to welcome wasn't as easy as the movies portrayed. Those streets paved with gold; those trees with money growing on them for the picking - somehow weren't - waiting upon their arrivals!
And despite their being as conscientious and as conscientious, hardworking young men can be or ever were the chasm of cultural understanding that was between their own culture's paradigm and how you operate at the top in America - where things move about 100 times faster than in most more hidebound countries? Well, they found that, for the most part it seemed like they were hitting their heads up against a brick wall.
But then, one day, each of them similarly met a funny older fella - a gentleman of the Caucasian persuasion. Who, happened to have an ability; possessed the most important ability that a man can possess on the entire face of the earth. Do you know what it is?
There is an ability more valuable than any other ability; do you know what it is?
Answer: The ability to perceive ability in others.
Because, if I can accurately (and accurately is the operative - sine qua non word) discern and perceive ability in you or in their cases them (must make sure to use proper pronouns you know!) then, it means that I can:
      A. Judge the quality of your character and integrity (or lack thereof) and know whether you are trustworthy or not.
      B. It means that I can then perceive in you abilities - that, possibly even you aren't aware of that like seeds unplanted and unwatered haven't sprouted yet, but with my conducting myself consciously, deliberately to affect that effect within the cerebral, intellectual garden of your mind - might - if you are inclined start to grow and ultimately take on a life of their own with you wanting it so and tending to the garden all on your own.
Which, incidentally, has been - throughout the ages - the underlying motivation as well as purpose of a mentor in a young man's life when being mentored by a high level mentor, which is why the mentor always chooses the mentee - NOT the other way around - not the way that silly, BS phrase of,
"When the student is ready the teacher will appear." suggests that the student somehow makes it happen. No, the teacher is, and always has been the one who makes it happen, if it is going to happen and, if it's not meant to be in his mind? Then, the young man will never know he was in the company of a teacher; he'll just know and feel he met an incredibly nice older man who seemed to understand him amazingly well and that will be that.
Sort of like being a secret fairy Godmother going here and there dispensing wisdom; I realize being a man the analogy isn't quite exact - but then again, I am gay - and thus by some considered to use the disdainful vernacular of the past "a fairy" - perhaps not as off the mark as one might think! LOL
Anyway, enough of this funnin' around, I must bring this to a right and proper conclusion.
The novels are going to tell the tale of the boys - my ersatz sons I never had all living in a castle like home of enormous size and proportions - somewhere - yet to be determined in or near The City that Never Sleeps from whence - from our roundtable - they will be dispatched, sent to sally forth to rescue fair damsels and the odd fetching fellows - in distress.
But unlike in the past - when and whereupon - they would mount up, girded in shining armor upon 16 hand high war horses and set out to do battle with the forces of evil possessed of untoward intentions - like those all evil men in such stories always are!
As we did back then, but now instead - being thoroughly modern and chicer than chic - they get into one of our new and improved "steeds" patiently waiting in our 16 car garage that go by names like Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini or Aston Martin or in terms of Erik's use - a Bentley - he - not wishing to appear ostentatious, nouveau riche and drive a Rolls-Royce.
Basically, Bonanza in the Bronx is going to be a latter-day, souped up, revved up version of My Fair Lady - sans music and our breaking out into song
      - with my playing the role of Henry Higgins and they - young - not at all, very ugly dashing male versions of Eliza.
The Bonanza part, incidentally, is a homage to the Western TV series - where Pa Cartwright played the part of Henry and had his "boys" too - inexplicably - all living at home into their 30s!
      And, now you know.

Yes, it was overwhelming to see it in Almaty, as others have pointed out, after the premiere of Story of One Sky, which emotionally slayed the audience. Plus 60 ft high black Dimash was causing most of us to feel faint anyway.
In reflection, it might have been better if it was somewhere else during the concert, the two pieces were almost too much one after the other.
You must see Dimash live, if you ever can, such an amazing experience on every level.

Thank you William! Beautiful country :) There were 3 towers, the middle one was 70' tall and that is where the 1st Dimash sings. Dimash jumped off of this tower at the beginning of the concert. The other 2 towers were 50' tall. We're fine with you covering/blurring videos, we know how things are with copyright. The vocals and your comments are what we come here for. This way both you and Dimash get likes/comments/subscribes and we enjoy both. :) This is glorious! I don't think anyone else has done anything like this performance. 4 Dimash's and ranges and styles all in one! This is his 1st time singing Spanish! What a gift to the Spanish speaking fans and what a spectacular performance for the audience at this concert. Dimash being amazing in all ways once again :)

@@BangkokVoiceCoach Dimash will not be commercialized. He will not have anyone tell him what to do and has said that he would not change his choices because anyone told him that it would sell better etc. Mainstream wants to control singers and he would never allow that to happen. He is quite well known all around the world, especially in the east. And South America is begging him to come there. But the USA is another story. Yes, he has many many fans, but he isn't as 'radio worthy'. He recently lived in L.A. for a time and I believe that he learned from American music history. It showed in his China concert on 12/23/23 in his 2 new songs. One is definitely R&B influenced and the other is maybe Mowtown leaning. They are really good. Also, I absolutely cannot wait to hear his duet with Placido Domingo!

He sang the composition "The Story Of One Sky" (Almaty concert, part 3, from 24:20) before this song and I suppose the audience had not yet recovered from this breathtaking performance. That must have been a lot. - For me, it's always a little bit sad that the message of "his lyrics" doesn't get more attention. But not everyone can understand the message behind the words.

Dimash promised his Spanish-speaking Dears a song in their language, so he composed “El Amor En Ti” and performed it for the first time at the Almaty Concert last fall. The different personas and voices imply a philosophical conversation between states of sorrow and despair because of the darkness of life (black) vs the hopefulness and light that comes from embracing love instead (white) which in turn engage our feelings and touch the heart (red). Dimash's live performance in the last part as a contemporary man against the giant figures which represent different human states of consciousness brings this it into an experience of life lived fully in the moment with all three states present and acknowledged and wholly integrated into the here and now.
Rather than creating cognitive dissonance by presenting opposing views, Dimash creates cognitive consonance, a state of harmony between competing emotions, beliefs and values by blending different voices, traditions, tonalities and styles (even expressed in his dress) into a gorgeous tapestry of sound and color that expresses the rich fullness of life. I was reminded of Walt Whitman’s line from the poem “Song of Myself: ‘I am large, I contain multitudes.’
Dimash does contain multitudes, and his art elevates the conflict from a two-dimensional dark vs light, good vs bad, true vs false question into a three-dimensional experience that frees us to live fully from the heart (hear how his high notes soar above and weave it together) without becoming overwhelmed by life's problems or denying the reality of life's darker aspects. Two dimensional conflicts often paralyze us with feelings of helplessness and despair and limit our ability to respond to life's storms appropriately, but when we get to a higher point of view, embrace a higher state of consciousness at the soul level by tapping into the love and peace within, we become the masters of our lives and not the victims of circumstance, and we can act with passion and confidence in the middle of the storms and, with open hearts, let our love within flow out into the world.
Dimash's stated mission, to bring unity and peace to the world through his art, is very much evident in this piece. Like in "Story of One Sky," he is very intentional about the message that we need to accept all there is and allow all to have a voice and a presence, not to silence or disappear what we do not like or understand, in our selves or in the outer world. The darkness is our reality as much as the light; the work of our lives is to create a harmonious whole through love that expresses our full humanity.
A shout-out to Erlan Bekchurin who arranges most of Dimash’s songs. Close friends since their teen years, Erlan is a genius in his own right, and together they make magic.

It is still chilling and thrilling to hear and see is.
Speaking of Hovrostovsky, before I go to bed at night, I listen to two songs.
Dimitri singing Leningrad and Avi Kaplan singing O Holy Night caught on a fancam
12-15-2022. Avi, though classically trained, handles the song much differently from your average singer. First, he is a basso profundo and has settled into a much more folk, Americana, country/western style of singing.
For some reason, these two singers with these two songs settle me.

@@BangkokVoiceCoach Beautiful! Such poignant lyrics and- unfortunately- so premonitory of his early passing. As a classically trained cellist (not professional! I did play some professional gigs in my youth, but had insufficient confidence to pursue this career path.), I did not have as much exposure to operatic performances as I could have had. Many symphonic works, but I didn’t have the exposure to opera when I was younger (I suspect you’re in a similar age range to me! I reject your definition of yourself as old and instead provide the delectable alternative of “seasoned”!). I did have vocal exposure, but my parents leaned more towards the lighter vocal stylings afforded by lighter “operettas “ as opposed to the headier operas. Even still, I lack companions who could accompany me to operas now. Still, Dimash opened the desire to listen to more of many different genres of singing. I believe that my ears better appreciate the lower registers from my experience with the cello, but I am absolutely fascinated with Dimash’s incredible range and often will look for other artists for comparative value to see if I have as deep a resonance with their vocals. This was a welcome auditory treat. Thank you.

👉 The Spanish speaking Dears have been waiting for a Dimash song in their language for a long time... and here it is.
The premiere of the song was at Dimash's 'Stranger' concert on September 23, 2022 in Almaty Central Stadium (the largest sports complex in the Republic of Kazakhstan). Dimash Qudaibergen's solo concert in Almaty sold out gathering 35000 Dears from almost 68 countries.
Dimash composed another masterpiece, an 'exquisite melodic salad' (as a dear put it) with profound lyrics.. It's a song with a wonderful, beautiful melody, in which classical and modern perfectly harmonize and blend... and Dimash sings it in quadruple duplication as a quartet with himself. What is better then one Dimash? For Dimash’s! There can never be enough of Dimash's... grandios!
Not only with his singing, but also with his videos or with his stage sets - Dimash sets new standards... just great!
The authors of the great lyrics are the Mexican Dr. Hildegard Wöhler and the singer-songwriter Regina de Ovando. The music was composed by Dimash Qudaibergen!
Description under the video by Dr. Hilde Wöhler: „The message of the lyrics is an invitation to know the capacity of the language of the human heart and that only from love, consciousness and spiritual growth, is it that we manage to conquer ourselves. It is written about the strength of the kind and generous human heart, which gives us the ability to choose a dignified life with love, light, and respect, and which allows us to thank, appreciate, and enjoy what is given to us from heaven. It talks about the ability that all people have to overcome the tribulations of life, master its temptations and get out of their own darkness. Thanks to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Mexico for its invaluable management.“
