I’m a cishet dad of a daughter and I’ve found your videos super helpful to give me the skills to bond with her. Plus, I’ve been practicing on myself and admittedly my nails DO feel nice when done. Thanks!

Hi Kelli, every since I was little, I always bite my nails and never took care of them and now I know how to paint my nails like you and I am only 12! You have helped me so much over the 2 or 3 years I have subscribed to you and now I am so happy to know how paint my nails, everyone at school is like nice nails. But I told them I did them myself! Now I know how to do nail art and at least paint them from you. I know this message was long but thanks so much Kelli Marissa!
I've been doing manicures (and a nail polish junkie) since I was around 13 and I'm 47 now. I have to say I much prefer doing my own than going to a salon. I find painting my nails so relaxing and it's a great stress reliever for me. That may sound weird, but it is really fun to me. I still occasionally go and get some dip powder nails or something but much prefer doing my own. These are great tips for beginners!
I really wanted to make salon nails a routine but I’ve so disappointed ☹️ each time I’ve started doing them myself and I cannot see ever going to a salon.
Kelli, this was INCREDIBLY helpful. My manicure is flawless right now! Step 4 was particularly helpful for me because I think I have just been using too much polish, and your demonstration of how you get a small amount onto the brush worked wonders. Thank you, you are wonderful ❤️
It is totally ok and safe to use rubbing alcohol on your nails. Its actually used a lot, especially in gel application. You can also use acetone to dehydrate. It has to be pure acetone because regular acetone and non acetone removers have oils and conditioners in them. When I do a gel manicure, I use both alcohol and a dehydrator, I want to make sure I got everything. You explained it pretty much text book. I don't cap my ends and I have pretty long, for natural nails. I can get most manicures to last a week or 2.
You want to use a formula that's at least 70% alcohol and preferably 90% though, otherwise the other ingredients can leave residue and prevent adhesion :)
Love love love this! I was getting manicures for over two decades😶 and recently I started doing them myself. I absolutely love it. In the process I think I have developed a nail polish addiction 😬. Thank for all the great videos.
Lol, I'm one of those who use alcohol to dehydrate my nails before a mani. It works like a charm. I also use cuticle oil before I remove my nail polish - I feel like it helps keep my cuticles from drying out so bad since I use pure acetone. I'm a tip-wrapper too. Always do it. And last thing - I was watching a nail tech's video and she said that quick-dry topcoat is actually made to go on before your nails are dry. Something about the formulation and shrinkage if your nails are dry first. So idk. But yeah, tip-wrappers of the world, unite! 😂😂😂
I just found this video. It was literally taking me HOURS to paint my nails and now it takes less than an hour! Thank you so much for all the tips, you're awesome!!!
Kelli! I’m 56 years old and I have never had a home mani last for more than 2 days! I bought a dehydrator, base and top coat....well, I’ve done my nails 3 times and each mani has lasted 5 or more days!!! I am learning to file my nails square and not using clippers. I also ordered the glass nail files from Germanikure for me, my mom and daughter. I can’t believe the difference those products have made! Thank you so much for all this information!!
Oh I'm so happy to hear these tips are working well for you Barbara! Funny enough, I still use the same Germanikure files I got YEARS ago, they last SO long! You're gonna love them.
20 minutes?! I'm here at 2-3h because my polish never dries and doing a second coat over the first wet-ish coat just smudges everything and makes it uneven? Plus I think my "quick-drying" top coat is garbage since I don't think it dries all the coats... or maybe it's me?
Maybe the layers are too thick? I find that my polish dries and lasts better when I use the thinnest layers of polish I can do and still get even coverage. If I use too much, it never really dries.
I agree with Jeanne, try to make each coat as thin as you can and it will dry faster. The exact polish you are using along with temperature and humidity can drastically affect drying time too. Try a different quick dry top coat and see if that improves anything. =)
The above suggestions are all on point. Thinner coats of polish and definitely use quick dry topcoat! Sally Hanson's Gel Effect polishes dry a lot faster than most polishes, (don't bother with the Gel Effect top coat it takes FOREVER to dry! The Gel Effect polish dries super-fast with the best quick dry topcoat I have ever used -- Seche Vite, but it does tend to get thick about halfway through the bottle. (You can buy Seche thinner and big, refill bottles on Amazon.) You can buy it almost anywhere, even Walmart sells it, and it's awesome! If your color coats are thin and you put Seche Vite on top you can go to bed in an hour and NOT have "bed marks" in your nails when you wake up in the morning!
Defiantly helpful. You always make it looks so seamless even though I know there's more to it than what we normally see. I find the entire process very therapeutic. I love picking colors, thinking up designs and painting my nails. It seriously de-stresses me. Thanks for sharing your tips!
Did you ever end up making a dedicated video on how to make your own decals? I think that would make a good 101 video. I know you can decal hand painted designs, but my favorite is colored in stamped designs. I did it once for my little sister with roses to match her dress, and it was awesome, but the decals that looked almost perfect on my nail mat ended up less than perfect on the nails. It still looked awesome, but I know I still have a lot to learn about getting the decal smoothly onto the nails.
I've seen some people pick up their decals using a clear sticky stamper, so they can pick them up and transfer them smoothly :D You probably have to gently work a cuticle pusher under it first so it doesn't stick to the mat though :D Waiting for them to dry properly is the key, if they're still even a little bit wet they will stretch when you pick them up!
I love your nail polish 101 series. Even when I think it is something I know very well, I like to see how someone else does it to see if there are tips I can pick up. And if it is something I’ve never done before, it’s great to get the instructions from a “for dummies” or very basics way so that I don’t feel like an idiot because you break it down so well. Thanks!
I really appreciate how you use more than 3 strokes to even out your polish, I always thought I was weird for not being able to do it in 3! Thanks for the tips 💕
Seriously - the whole “paint your dominant hand first”? GAME CHANGER! I didn’t end up painting my finger or missing the edges because I was trying not to bump wet nails.
I paint my nails all the time, I love it and use all these tips because I've learned them from other TH-camrs, I paint my nails once a week and the NEVER chip, these are good tips for long lasting and beauty
Thanks for this video. This is going to be really helpful when I paint my nails on Friday ( my mom is throwing a party!) . I can't wait for that cuticle care video. Also, this hair color really suits you.
Takeaway: how to get amount of nail polish swirl around and rub against both sides; clean up with acetone and concealer brush; wait a minute between each step but use top coat quick dry immediately after, moisturize; total time: 20 minutes
I have done most of these, but never thought of using a dehydrator. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that swirls the nail polish brush and wipes off excess polish and all! I hope that made sense how I worded it...lol! I used to try wrapping the polish around my nails too, but I also have short nails so it's just a mess under the nail then...haha! It's great to know that it doesn't matter too much. Thanks for this video! :)
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat is my favorite. And I always wrap the tip of my nails because the thing with fast drying top coat is sometimes it can pull back away from the edge because it dries quickly
I have been doing my nails at home since I was teenager, I had them done in a salon only twice in my life! Even though I'm very used to do it your tips are always very helpful, thanks for sharing!!
Even with dehydrator, base coat, & fast dry top coat my polish chips off by the next morning. I've even tried sticky nase coat! Polish I use is Orly, opi, finger paints, & China glaze. Don't want to invest in to many until I figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Love the 101 series, very helpful and clear. My birthday is tomorrow so this video will help me have a pretty manicure to celebrate. BTW I'm still waiting for the 101 video on wing eyeliner. Have a great week!
Hey Kelli I recently discovered your channel and I'm just LOVING it, think I watched about 50 vids since friday night (while nursing the baby lol), I'm from Brazil and down here manicures are done very differently (don't check it out cuz you might have a seizure 😂😂😂) and your videos hepeld me out (YES!) to do a fairly cute manicure much faster than I used to do it, so thank you for that. I believe with just a little more practice I'll be painting my nails much better than at a salon. You have great energy and are a good teacher, I wish you even more success in you life 💖💖💖
Lol. I agree with what you said about homemade manicures being fun. I follow all these steps religiously. Except the bit with the dehydrator. I just usually wash my hands with soap and water. Lol. I change my manicures very often as I use Elmer’s glue as a peel off base. By the next day or two....i get tired of the old mani and start all over again. I always do some form of nail art. There’s hardly ever just one color of polish on all my nails. Great informative video. Btw Your hair and eye makeup looks amazing!
Love this video! Thank you! I tend to get air bubbles sometimes, especially when applying top coat. What am I doing wrong and how do I avoid that? Thanks!
Thanks for this!! I'm so happy I found your channel! I must say, though, that it takes me about an hour to do all of those steps BUT I wait about 5 minutes between each coat, otherwise I *will* mess up the polish.
I am going to try this! I've want to do my nails, but letting layers completely dry takes up as much as 1-2 hours of my day. I'll let you know what I thought of this soon! Thank you for sharing this technique!
First time I watched one of your videos, very helpful, I am 51 years old divorced but trying to find a man lol I am not used to doing my own nails or going to have them done at a salon because I am a landscaper and my nails take a beating, but I’m slowing down with work and I’m going to try to pamper myself more. My first step is no polish learning how to put it on and take care of my nails and you pretty much covered all of it, I really enjoyed your video. Thank you.
Wrapping the tips is so important if you have long nails! It's crazy how much long my polish lasts since I've been doing it. What I have also noticed is that dehydrating isn't actually that important. What I always do is to put a lot of Jojoba oil on my nails and let it soak in for 15 minutes, then I wash my hands with soap and water to get rid of the oil on the surface of my nail. I then rub them dry with a towel and let them dry out in the air for around 5 minutes, then start painting. My manicures last up to two weeks like this 😊
I wrap my short tips, but my nails don't hold polish very well- I get 2 days wear if I'm lucky! And I use dehydrator too and only oil when I have polish on!
I just got done doing my nails 💅 then saw this video! I do my nails 💅 pretty much how you do. I did a design with purple, hot pink and a mint green outline. It's my therapy. I really liked this video, and on course your eyes are gorgeous as usual, and your hair. That photo shoot you and your friend did sounds like a blast! I hope you have a wonderful week sweetie. I'm waiting to hear some hopefully great news. So I've been stressed out big time. I'll keep you posted, but please keep me in your prayers 🙏. Thx Kelli. Love you girl. 💛💜💝😘🐶🐩🐕
Looking forward to the cuticle care video! I'm terrible about picking at my cuticles and area around my nails. I'm trying to be better and I know they need TLC.
You you have a video on your different/favorite top coats? I looked but didn’t see one......and THANKS!! I thought I was the only one that did my nails every week and has “too much polish” 😂 glad to know I’m not alone! 🥰🥰👍🏻
@@KelliMarissa yeah very excited. I might go with pink to start. As someone who identify’s as female. Looking to forward to start. Nails, makeup and hair all I want to do. Hoping to dye my hair soon.
I remember watching your old video and seeing the cheap elf brush, I went to the nearest elf and it was $3! They discontinued the dollar one but they said you can find it at target. I still bought it and it works perfectly so thanks!
I feel like they raised the price because so many people buy them for nail polish, lol. I went to Target recently to buy some and the cashier was like "are you one of those people who use these for nail art?" haha we are taking over!
I use alcohol to dry my nails before polishing. I’ve never tried a dehydrator. I just heard about it a couple of months ago. I should try and compare. What is that purple polish ur wearing?
😱 I usually wait 15-20 mins between coats while I'm watching TV and then do the quick dry top coat but I'm gonna try your technique of doing them within a couple minutes!
I watched this video last night and some things you said are different from what I do, but are things I used to do. Not everyone does things the same, so I didn't think anything of it. Then today I was rewatching some of your old nailpolish 101 videos because I have had some nail polish peeling off problems lately, and I found the one that told me to basically change the way I was doing nails to make them last longer, which I did. It was the first nailpolish 101 video, where you talked about how to avoid polish chipping. You said to never use oil or lotion before painting nails, and to always cap your tips, both of which you say the opposite in this video. I keep my nails shorter than yours, so capping is always huge pain since it requires me to paint my skin to get it on my nail tip and then do cleanup with acetone to get it back off of my skin. I only cap with top coat because it's a pain. Should I not bother capping them at all? I figured it was important to have top coat cover all the layers of polish exposed on my nail tip, particularly because I use my hands a lot and the super short nails means I use my nails a lot too. The nail peeling issue: I have learned not to flood my cuticles so I have a lot less problems with my polish trying to peel off from the cuticles, but lately I have noticed I never really get small chipping on my tips. When it tries to chip it instead pulls off a chunk of polish like a sheet. I think it might be in part to be using gel top coat, but the same issue happens to my 4yo daughter's nails and we never use gel. Her nails either look perfect or completely naked, it almost never chips partly off. I use acetone to dry out the nail plate, essie first base as base coat, and essie speed setter as top coat. The whole reason I realized this might be odd is I was testing out some new polishes a few weeks ago and put them on my left hand nails without any base or top. I intended to take it off not long after and actually paint my nails properly, but life took over and I ended up wearing them for 3 weeks. They have chipped, but only tiny amounts at a time and never huge chunks like I normally see, which makes me think I'm possiblity doing something wrong normally. I don't know if it's my base coat or top coat causing the issues, or if that is expected when you have so many layers of polish on?
Hey, sorry for any confusion there - the video about peeling or chipping is advice for people who struggle with that issue specifically, so in those cases I wouldn't recommend moisturizing before and I would recommend capping the free edge. This is more of a general guideline for people who don't have especially oily nail plates! Hope that makes sense. It sounds like you might need a bonding base coat like Orly Bonder to keep your nail polish from peeling off in sheets.
My nail routine is practically the same as yours 😊 I just don’t use a dehydrator. I gotta work on my cleanup skills though. Liquid latex really helps as a barrier.
AHHH....you answered my question. Thank you. My question was, does fast dry top coat mean the top coat itself dries fast or that it means it helps your mani dry faster. Thank you for answering that question.
Very thorough! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel a few weeks ago, and I'm loving your content. Do I foresee a Zoya Jubilee swatch video in our future?

Thank you for this video! Your videos are SO helpful and super appreciated! I know this was posted quite some time ago, but any idea what shade you were wearing on your nails here? I love it! 💜
This is a question I have for both videos. When you do your clean up with the brush, do you do that when the polish is still wet, or semi dry, or all the way dry?
My hands used to be so unsteady and could hardly paint my right hand at all without getting polish everywhere. The trick is to practice. I painted my nails every week and painted my sister's nails whenever she let me. Im a lot better now than i was a year ago
Kelli - do you ever soak your finger tips? I do because that’s what they always do at the nail salons. I also use vitamin E oil on my nails after I’ve soaked and I just rub each nail with a paper towel after rubbing in the oil and then I start with my base coat. I think for older women, who naturally have drying issues, using something that dehydrates the nail may cause brittleness? I don’t know for sure, but I do know that the vitamin E oil seems to really help my nails.
Speaking as a 56 year-old, and former nail tech, the nail plate doesn't dry out like the skin does. The nail plate doesn't have any oil glands, the nails only get oily because of contact with the skin and hair on the rest of the body. Elderly nails do have some issues, though, like nail ridges and sometimes elderly people's nails get thinner and weaker, but sometimes (like me) they get harder and thicker as they (we) age. Everyone is unique! ;-)
Thanks for your input! My nails have gotten ridges as I've aged and they seem to more easily split horizontally - like in layers. I do keep polish on them and do my own nails once/week and I think that helps.
I use the Essie quick-dry drops on top of my quick-dry top coat & I'm good to go in ONE MINUTE after that (I don't go opening soda cans right away or anything crazy like that, but my mani is pretty much ding-free -- I can grab my keys & go out the door).
Thanks for all your work. These videos are really helpful especially when you explain how the products work. I am more than surprised though at how fast you say you do everything. I can't do it because I will mess up the polish on the working (painting) hand. Also, I have to use a cuticle stick dipped in remover to clean up around the edges because the polish is too dry to get off with a brush or anything soft. So I'm a little confused on how to do all this with basically wet nails.
I think it just takes time and practice - I've been painting my nails at least once a week for over six years now, so over time it's become a super quick process for me! As you go on, start slowly to work through every step, and eventually it'll be quicker!
@@KelliMarissa I couldn't possibly polish my nails that often. They would just turn brittle and break or tear off. What do you do to keep the nails from deteriorating? Thanks
what base coat? I have been using Deborah Lippman and love it. But now I see those INLP colors and they have a great set of cheaper base and top coat, but I'm kind of hooked on the Hard Rock and my nails are just so much better as it helps them be strong and also slightly flexible, so my nails got so long within the first couple months I am afraid to try a different base.
Your eyeshadow 😍😍😍 Love ittt ! And i love your nail polish 101 videos so much !! Even though i kinda knew the basic stuff on that one i still loved watching it 😏
Hi Kelly a pleasure to watch your tutorials, your personality is very contagious and videos very educational. I need your advise, I had dip powder polish on, just removed it and my nails are very weak, soft and not very pretty at the moment. What do you recomend I do? Thank you in advance for your help, by the way love your hair color matches your personality perfectly, being a happy person willing to help your viewers. Thanks again Kelly for your advise. Have a Blessed day😍
Hey Purita! It sounds like your nails sustained a bit of damage from the acrylic powder. I'd suggest using a strengthener (my personal favorite is Duri Rejuvacote!) and apply that once a week until your nails heal up!
Great video Kelli. What polish do you have on in the video (not what you are using to paint your nails). You listed everything including what socks you're wearing, but not your nail polish! xxxxxx
Hi Kelli ! Was browsing and saw the pink polish, immediately loved,,the link takes me to what looks like a different color. Do you remember the name? Thanks 😊
I'm pretty good at application at this point but I still really enjoy your 101 videos :D My nails on one hand are as short as yours, but I always wrap my tips- kinda have to, I'm lucky to get 2 days of wear even using strong adhesion basecoats, dehydrator and topcoats- I wrap them first, then cover my nail swiping left and right first and then up the centre to smooth it out :D Wrapping first means I can angle the brush so it doesn't go all over my skin, then smooth out the ridge that creates with my application :D I also have to wait at least 5-10 min between coats otherwise I get air bubbles and dents in my polish even if I don't touch it for several hours- it will still dent the following day, the bottom layers never seem to fully dry! So I usually take an hour, hour and a half to apply about six coats (moisturising base, a second cuccio base because my nails stain bright yellow even though I always wear a base, two coats of colour (or a few sponged layers of gradient), then if I'm going glossy I'll stamp then use seche vite, if I'm going matte I'll put the seche on before stamping, then use a Barry M matte topcoat :D I also added a layer of holo glitter under the stamping on today's mani :D So that's a good hour and a half usually and then within 2 days it's chipped horribly and I have to start all over again!
step -1 is to go pee 😭 nothing worse than wet nails and a full bladder lmao

Oh gosh yeah I don't know how people do it in three strokes!!
i swear you have the perfect nail shape! lol... good tips ❤️👍🏻
Oh gosh thank you haha!
Seriously - the whole “paint your dominant hand first”? GAME CHANGER! I didn’t end up painting my finger or missing the edges because I was trying not to bump wet nails.
You explained these steps perfectly! Very easy to follow. I will most definitely follow these steps! Thanks Kelli! 😁
I'm so happy you found it helpful!!
Painting my nails for the first time and this guide has been immensely helpful, thank you!
All you said about the top coat is true, quick dry top coats are awesome 😎
Agreed! I love a quick dry top coat.
I paint my nails all the time, I love it and use all these tips because I've learned them from other TH-camrs, I paint my nails once a week and the NEVER chip, these are good tips for long lasting and beauty
I'm so happy to hear they all work for you!
Thanks for this video. This is going to be really helpful when I paint my nails on Friday ( my mom is throwing a party!) . I can't wait for that cuticle care video. Also, this hair color really suits you.
Oh thank you so much :) I'm glad my video was helpful for you!
Your giggles at 2:02 hahaha that was priceless. Great video!
Haha glad you enjoyed :)
Your first video of this is why I started following you ☺️
Oh gosh haha I feel like I was so robotic in that one! Hope you enjoyed version 2.0 :)
You’re inspiring me to stop biting my nails after 18 years 😍😍😍
Takeaway: how to get amount of nail polish swirl around and rub against both sides; clean up with acetone and concealer brush; wait a minute between each step but use top coat quick dry immediately after, moisturize; total time: 20 minutes
I'm glad a watched this im going to try it . I have trouble getting my nail polish to stay on . And looking nice but I love painting my nails
Haha yeah it's just a pain to clean off after!
Kelli Marissa Lol...it truly is!
What quick dry top coat do you use or recommend?
Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat is my favorite. And I always wrap the tip of my nails because the thing with fast drying top coat is sometimes it can pull back away from the edge because it dries quickly
I have been doing my nails at home since I was teenager, I had them done in a salon only twice in my life! Even though I'm very used to do it your tips are always very helpful, thanks for sharing!!
Haha I've actually only gotten mine done twice too!!
Even with dehydrator, base coat, & fast dry top coat my polish chips off by the next morning. I've even tried sticky nase coat! Polish I use is Orly, opi, finger paints, & China glaze. Don't want to invest in to many until I figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Are your layers possibly too thick? The thicker you paint, the more brittle it is, and as your nail flexes it's more likely to chip.
Some great tips in the comments here :)
omg, i love you for this. you just made my life 10x easier. thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu
Love the 101 series, very helpful and clear. My birthday is tomorrow so this video will help me have a pretty manicure to celebrate. BTW I'm still waiting for the 101 video on wing eyeliner. Have a great week!
Don't worry I'll definitely do it! And happy birthday!!!
I need that elf concealer brush 😍
It's so good!
Love the colors in you hair. So fun
Tysm for the quick dry topcoat part!
You have great energy and are a good teacher, I wish you even more success in you life 💖💖💖
Oh I'm so happy you're enjoying my content so far Fabíola!! Let me know if you have any video requests 😄
@@KelliMarissa will do!!! Thanks again, I'm seriously in love with your channel! 😙😙
Oh gosh thank you! And yes I am glad we are on the same page haha. It's a part of my relaxing/pampering routine!
Love this video! Thank you! I tend to get air bubbles sometimes, especially when applying top coat. What am I doing wrong and how do I avoid that? Thanks!
I've got a video coming out about this soon!!
Thanks for this!! I'm so happy I found your channel! I must say, though, that it takes me about an hour to do all of those steps BUT I wait about 5 minutes between each coat, otherwise I *will* mess up the polish.
Totally understandable! Sometimes when I'm feeling a bit shaky I go slow and it makes such a huge difference!
Thank you.
Gr8 Tips! Nail Painting is such a Hassel, but &R Tips R Handy & Helpful, Thank You!
Very helpful tips, i just really learned how to paint my nails last year so I'm always looking to improve so thank you for the tips.
My manicures last up to two weeks like this 😊
Sounds like using the soap dries out your nail beds enough!
Hoping everything is going well with you!! Sending lots of love your way ❤️❤️❤️ in the meantime, those nails sound gorgeous and relaxing!!
Looking forward to the cuticle care video! I'm terrible about picking at my cuticles and area around my nails. I'm trying to be better and I know they need TLC.
I'll be posting it soon!
Luv the lights in the background😘
Thanks Cindy :)
This video never gets old!
Awesome tips! I have a question: is it true that it's better to paint your nails in a cool, air conditioned room to avoid bubbles? Thanks :)
Yes absolutely!
You you have a video on your different/favorite top coats? I looked but didn’t see one......and THANKS!! I thought I was the only one that did my nails every week and has “too much polish” 😂 glad to know I’m not alone! 🥰🥰👍🏻
Love the video. I hope to paint my nails for the first time soon. Trying figure out what color I should do.
Oh you are going to have the most fun getting into this world! So many colors and finishes to choose from :)
@@KelliMarissa yeah very excited. I might go with pink to start. As someone who identify’s as female. Looking to forward to start. Nails, makeup and hair all I want to do. Hoping to dye my hair soon.
Pink is a great place to start!
And feel free to reach out if you have questions :) I've got a whole series called Nail Polish 101 about beginner tips!
@@KelliMarissa thanks. Yeah I always like pink as color I think it will look good. Cool yeah I will
I remember watching your old video and seeing the cheap elf brush, I went to the nearest elf and it was $3!
After I finish my manicure, I use a little bit of brush on cuticle oil. CVS Pharmacy's house brand Pop•arazzi makes a nice rose scented cuticle oil.
the first step I do before doing any of it is to go to the bathroom most impotent step
Hahahaha that's the truth!
We love a good nail 101
:) :) :)
Lol
How can I smooth my nails out if I don’t have a nail buffer
And how do you make brush strokes less visible
Can you make a video on how to be a nail you tuber with a phone or ipad
I watch the first video you did every time I do my nails (I also bought everything you mentioned in that video).
Oh I'm so happy to hear that it works for you :)
I never use top coat on the tip of my nails I got long nails I really love your videos thank you for sharing
Thank you I never knew top coat helps the other layers in drying Thank you 💞
Happy to help!!
Kelli, I learn sooo much from your videos. Many thanx! Btw what color are wearing in the intro?
I use alcohol to dry my nails before polishing. I’ve never tried a dehydrator. I just heard about it a couple of months ago. I should try and compare. What is that purple polish ur wearing?
It's OPI Feel the Chemis-tree :)
Oh shit! I have that one! I haven’t worn it in months. I need to wear it again.
😱 I usually wait 15-20 mins between coats while I'm watching TV and then do the quick dry top coat but I'm gonna try your technique of doing them within a couple minutes!
Let me know how it goes!
@@KelliMarissa Ok, that makes sense. I will give that base a try, I have seen it before at CVS =)
Wowww I love your videos!! I’m such a beginner still with these nail stuff!! I’m learning so much thank you love you!!
Oh I'm so happy you're finding these tips helpful Kacie!!
My nail routine is practically the same as yours 😊 I just don’t use a dehydrator. I gotta work on my cleanup skills though. Liquid latex really helps as a barrier.
A)Your eye shadow is FANTASTIC! B)Your Hair is Rockin' C)Thank you for inspiring me to do my nails....they need help!! xo
Haha thank you so much!!!! You got this!!!
AHHH....you answered my question. Thank you. My question was, does fast dry top coat mean the top coat itself dries fast or that it means it helps your mani dry faster. Thank you for answering that question.
Glad to help, Amy!!
I absolutely live watching these videos!
Thanks so much Peggy :)
Very thorough! I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel a few weeks ago, and I'm loving your content. Do I foresee a Zoya Jubilee swatch video in our future?
Yes definitely!! That new top coat looks funky and awesome.
@@KelliMarissa Reliving my 2010 Sally Hansen crackle topcoat dreams! The pink shade looks similar to either Lola or Mandy. Zoya certainly loves their pinks for all seasons.
Whew! I have finally got all caught up with you! I got a new job and have had zilch for time. But today, I got some and got some much needed Kelli time! Hope you are doing okay! Byyeee! *waves*

That’s a great idea to act like a model for a day, I’m going to try that! Great video as always!
Haha it was a fun way to boost my confidence!
Nice to watch someone who has short nails, and using regular polish ❤️ also giving great tips and advice xx
Happy to help, Tracey!
Thank you for this video! Your videos are SO helpful and super appreciated! I know this was posted quite some time ago, but any idea what shade you were wearing on your nails here? I love it! 💜
Ooh I'm sorry, I don't remember but I do know it was an OPI shade!! I'll try to search through my stash and see if I own it or a similar one haha!
Thanks for the great advice Kelli 😃
Happy to help Katarina!
This is a question I have for both videos. When you do your clean up with the brush, do you do that when the polish is still wet, or semi dry, or all the way dry?
This is a great question and I can't believe I forgot to say it again lol. I do it while the polish is still wet, before top coat!
My hands used to be so unsteady and could hardly paint my right hand at all without getting polish everywhere.
The trick is to practice. I painted my nails every week and painted my sister's nails whenever she let me. Im a lot better now than i was a year ago
That's the best advice honestly! Practice makes perfect!
Thank you Kelli for the helpful tips.
Glad to hear the input of an expert here, haha! I've always wondered why they get oily.
Manicure essentials? Where else do I go? KELLI MARISSA 😁😍😍😅😅
Hehe :) :)
Yay! I also don't wrap the tip but my polish lasts like a week!!😁😃
That's great!
I use the Essie quick-dry drops on top of my quick-dry top coat & I'm good to go in ONE MINUTE after that (I don't go opening soda cans right away or anything crazy like that, but my mani is pretty much ding-free -- I can grab my keys & go out the door).
That's awesome!
I need that cuticle care video!
Coming soon!
Oh yea AND took 15 mins :) thank you thank you Kelli!
My Mosi Mei polishes have arrived super excited
Ahh yay I hope you love them!!
Kelli I am beyond “love” I am obsessed 😬. Love love all the colors I ordered. Looking forward to watching your videos😊
I love painting my own nails!
Glad you enjoy them Melissa :)
Liquid latex is a life saver! My really long nail snapped today into the quick and I'm honestly kinda devastated...😔😖😭 Great vid as always Kelli!
Aw I'm sorry to hear that! But I'm always partial to shorties hehe :)

Hehe thank you so much!
Useful video and the hair still looks amazing!! Love yah and the videos!! 🧡🧡
Love u tooooo!!
Great video Kelli. What polish do you have on in the video (not what you are using to paint your nails). You listed everything including what socks you're wearing, but not your nail polish! xxxxxx

@@KelliMarissa - no way! I've got that. I'll have to dig it out because I need to wear it right now. Thanks!
Hi Kelli ! Was browsing and saw the pink polish, immediately loved,,the link takes me to what looks like a different color. Do you remember the name? Thanks 😊
Ahh I'm sorry, I don't remember :(
I'm pretty good at application at this point but I still really enjoy your 101 videos :D My nails on one hand are as short as yours, but I always wrap my tips- kinda have to, I'm lucky to get 2 days of wear even using strong adhesion basecoats, dehydrator and topcoats- I wrap them first, then cover my nail swiping left and right first and then up the centre to smooth it out :D Wrapping first means I can angle the brush so it doesn't go all over my skin, then smooth out the ridge that creates with my application :D I also have to wait at least 5-10 min between coats otherwise I get air bubbles and dents in my polish even if I don't touch it for several hours- it will still dent the following day, the bottom layers never seem to fully dry!
Thanks for sharing your process with us!
omfg I love your hair its everything
Oh gosh thank you so much!
