    Reading all these reviews that complain about needing to set up a Garmin acct. Why the heck would you buy a Garmin scale without having a Garmin acct?? 😂 The main attraction to this scale is it links to my Garmin account and will update my profile with this information automatically.

    Easy setup through app.. after that adding user was tough.. but got it figured out., all done through your own app.. must have other user accept invite and they just show up on scale.. if other user privacy is set, have to allow before they can be seen..
    I like its data.. not sure at this time how accurate..

    Like many others, setting up myself (existing Garmin user) was not too bad. Trying to add my wife, who had to create a Garmin account, was a nightmare. She has to use the “?-account” (which itself is a bad presentation. It makes the user think something is wrong. Displaying something like “Guest” would be clearer). Weighing yourself and then tapping to your account seems backwards. The weight number seems accurate. The other metrics look very wacky. I just retired a 20-year old Tanita body metric scale for this Garmin. The Tanita was far better, even at 20 years old. This is a clumsy attempt by Garmin to expand their ecosystem.

  • @elmoinstyle

    switching user on scales are nightmare. it would be better to choose user before you step on scale, then after scale automatic figure it out on his own and send data to incorrect profile. i have only 2 users for now. can imagine what hussle will be if users will be more.

    Adding a secondary user took awhile for me! The luxury of being a life-long IT Technician made the ’add another user part’ a frustrating 15 minute journey, but my fiancée is now added. However, for the regular layman or someone not in IT, I can imagine it’s a complete nightmare.
    The Interaction Design team over at Garmin needs to work EVEN HARDER.
    Plus, the scale should be able to be just that, initially- a scale with just weight measurement. Without the need for additional configuration through neither Bluetooth nor WiFi. I paid 1390 SEK for mine (discounted 400 SEK) and I still feel a bit robbed.
    Garmin made a tethered appliance and if that’s ’the future’, I’ll be packing my bags today.

    • @GarminInt
      @GarminInt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question! Because of how the Index S2 Smart Scale gets the metric information, it would only give you weight and weather info. Essentially, the Index S2 sends a signal from one foot, up the body and down to the other foot to get the metric information.

    Cheap Huwei scale: Turns on rapidly and measures when standing on it
    Expensive Garmin scale: Need to poke it with foot for it to slowly turn on and inconsistenly at that. Why cant i just stand on it instead of this unrealiable foreplay ritual? I came here to write exactly this comment. Tapping before usage is excessive. It's also slow and inconsistent. I had to read the manual to make sure I'm doing it right -- one tap or double, anywhere on the scale or only on the display, or on the logo bar? So frustrating.

    • @wfhalsey1
      @wfhalsey1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm having the same issue with even turning the scale on. It is so inconsistent with coming on so I have not figured out whether to tap hard or soft, and where on the scale will do the trick. I just got this scale a few hours ago, anticipating loving it, even after reading a lot of these comments. Many of the negative comments I felt I could attribute to user error, but having experienced the same issues I am having a serious case of buyer's remorse. I think I'll be returning this tomorrow.

    Totally disappointed by the accuracy of this scale. As a 15-year fitness industry professional, I've easily stepped on over 50 devices with the same technology. Margin of error for my scale was +7% compared to an average of other devices I've used (which have four points of contact). I'm 6 feet tall. Garmin seems to think my skeleton only weighs 9 lbs. I want to like this company, but between my digital display on my watch fully disappearing and this scale, I can no longer confidently recommend this company.

    • @chriswright9096
      @chriswright9096 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Found this guidance online: "Bone content is the percentage of bone mineral as compared to total body weight. The average bone content for adults is 3-5%". I believe it doesn't include bone marrow weight (which is perhaps why people are sometimes surprised by how low it is). Sounds like yours is approximately in line with expectations.
      My scale seems to be perfectly accurate in measuring weight. When it comes to body fat percentage, well all these scales (not just Garmin) have inaccuracies. General opinion is that, for lean people, the body fat is overstated while for heavier folks the body fat is understated.

      You do have that option you know...what if you are really butt naked and the phone is in another room and really excited to see how much weight you lost after you ran for 2h.

      @@larionciprian2151 If you want to measure the amount of water weight you lost during a 2hr run then you need to measure yourself immediately before and immediately after. Highly unlikely this product would be used for that. It's a bad "feature".

      You wish it was a correct info. It shows me 28% fat, I am a Semi-Pro rider ahah, 28% its funny and every day it jumps these numbers out of nowhere, like i ate +10000 calories in the evening. Useless product for this price

    Why the f*** is it limited to only 4 character names? You could literally show my full name and my profile picture... it would be a lot better user experience!

    Oh come on! No thanx. I'd rather use the scale I have. It's just as effective. Except without all the bull.😂

    DON't buy this the Garmin weight scale it SUCKS. Weight measurements are INACCURATE. Two measurements after each other give differences of over 1 kg. So a totally useless piece of equipment. More users have this problem.

    Don't touch this product. Is a rip off for such a amateur product. I have a smart scale 5 times cheaper than this and works 10 times better. They do OK watches, buy they haven't figure out the scale yet. Very disappointed with this product
