The fact that this character was able to sneak the cat on board, take him to space, keep him alive for 4 months without food or water while he was asleep, and then remove him from the bag completely unharmed makes me think he’s actually a genius.
Ironically there is a precedent for this. In Alien, which I believe a lot of the characters in this sketch were modeled after certain characters in that or similar space movies, Ripley has her kitty cat Jones sleep at the bottom of her hypersleep pod. And while Kirby is like insane, the idea of bringing pets into space is a classic morale boost for the crew and I'm really confused why no one else liked Kirby's little kitty cat, aside from the fact that he seemed like a psychopath.
Have an engineering professor just like this guy, no joke. He got his doctorate at Stanford. Every online lecture he mentions/introduces his cats multiple times and has a similar cooing voice.
