  • I believe this video was shot in 1999 at the Alaska Federation of Native annual convention in Anchorage, Alaska. Unfortunately, I don't know the name of this Native dance group. I believe they are Athabascan and I hope someone recognizes the group and people involved and can tell me so that I can list their proper name. I think you will enjoy their performance.

YES this our elders from the athabascan community (meaning all the villages) . That's my grandma Ruth Grant from Minto next to the microphone phone on the right and her husband Al Grant all the way at to left. I love them so much this a blessing. RIP grandma Ruth and grandpa AL. I appreciate my elders so this video means alot to me.Thank you

I ❤ the matriarchal strength of the Athabascan tribe. It warms my heart to have known an Athabascan family. Your strength, fortitude, beauty, and love has left an impression on my soul.
Your culture is an amazing example of life well lived.
    Thank you.

Thank you, so much to those of you who have viewed the video and to those who have left comments. I was hoping the people in the video would be recognized. I'm sorry I didn't take better notes at the time.

You'd be correct the Athabascan people of Alaska unlike many of the indigenous people of the the state they come from Apache and Navajo speaking groups :)

Only the language groups stand close together and Apache is the closest to this language, they came from here not down south

Just to add+ This is not a group AFN is a discussion on current events and issues. It looks like it was a "elders" tribute maybe to the young people. (Because) They sang the "alcohol" song. I think its important for us to know our heritage and alcholism is part of it. And a very big problem this is the way the elders talk to us and let us know that it's sad and disrespectful.
