Tesla is hugely founded on the way toyota makes their vehicles. Of course we have problems such as battery range, panel gaps, and a self driving system that has faults. • @pangda4282

She basically said that GM is the leading automaker in US. Also GM is leading the autonomous driving technology through its subsidiary Cruise. GM is arguably in the lead of the battery technology that just started getting rolled out with Hummer EV. GM plans to start mass production of EV in 2023 with EVs around 30K range (the next generation bolt will be around 25k with new battery technology). Currently EV demand is far greater than supply and the market share basically will be decided on who can supply at high volume with reasonable prices.

It's happened to thousands of companies. Barnes and Noble losing to Amazon, brick & mortar retail to Amazon, Blockbuster going under after Netflix ate its lunch, RIM (Blackberry) and Nokia who Get Rekt by Apple, Samsung, and Google.

So who is the liar Mary Barra or the interviewer? The interviewer should of asked Mary Barra to explain how is it even possible for you to be the leader when you sell 7 times less Evs in America than Tesla. Not to mentioned the market share has not improved but worsend for GM lately because of limited production of the only EV it makes the Bolt (technically LG make the Bolt in South Korea not GM) which GM says it makes 0 money on by the way. Also she failed to mention the GM Chinease car is really not a GM. Its a US$4000-US$5500 car made by SAIC holds, GM is only a invester and owns 44% share while Sac holds 51% market share. All cars combined Tesla sold simular amount of cars in China but the average price was 10 times more than Sac holds also include that Tesla builds the cars themself and own 100% of manufacturing. Its as GM doesnt know anymore how to built new generation cars, probally because of a lack of R&D in the last 10 years. So there stratagy is to invest in other manufactors(like the failed Nikola investment) and get them to build the cars for them. All failed businesses have 1 thing in common "Delusion"! and this always starts at the top of management. I expect GM's market share to shrink further in the future.
