Ace go, I thought she was eating the baby too, until she kept saying "it tastes like... like.." and Ross came into frame and said "You." So then I thought she was eating meat from her own corpse from a different loop. So I'm confused on that part but the baby makes more sense and is much more terrifying.

When Tobin, Cal, Travis and Becky meet up at the dead dog, they should have carried it until they got out. If the field can't move dead things, just carry a dead thing, duh.

I kept pausing it and replaying the one scene where the brother’s arm is forced by something unseen for my husband and we were just trying to figure out what exactly was going on with that and all the loops. I’d love to read the novella and see the differences. Glad I wasn’t the only one who liked it!
That phone call “from the future,” that is also a detail in one of the older stories by Stephen King. Very effective in both.

Not really redemption when he's still a backstabbing siscon at heart who would've definitely gotten his sis killed again if they had gone in the grass. He would've folded in the beginning of the movie if she told him to turn around anyway. He's a pushover. 🤷🏾

It's kinda similar to the ending of Cube, another film by Vincenzo Natali, where the only person to escape is a mentally challenged man, so even if he tells people about what happened in there, it's possible they won't believe him.
It's really not easy to burn grass that's not dead.
The fire would probably go out before the whole field went up in flames.

It's all just a bunch of speculations of course, especially since that it could work the opposite way too. Regardless of said; it was a really good movie.

Yeah I’m pretty sure that was the case. Ross was alluding to the fact that no matter how he tried to escape, Cal pretty much always ends up getting killed around the same spot.

There was a shot in the film where they show Becky and Cal going in the 2nd time. It's a shot through the glass window of the church. Why was it shot so if there was nothing in the church watching them, unless of course, it was Tobin in a loop and just didn't stop them?

@@xsomili5501 yeah sounds about right.. Let's call the Tobin loop.. The A loop.. So loop A happened and it resulted in Tobin being corrupted.. He somehow ended in the church and didn't want to stop them since he was corrupted.. So the loop B began.. And in this loop B that we see in the movie.. Travis became the corrupted one instead of Tobin that was nearly forced to touch the stone by his father (that end was probably the end of loop A) but it didn't happen like loop A since Travis killed his father.. That way Travis used Tobin through the worm holes to put him in the church.. That new end of loop B ended the loop and prevented loop C from beginning! I see it like that..

I thought the dead bodies that Cal saw when he was being killed by Ross were different versions of Cal that had already died. It made sense since Ross said "you didn't choose one path, you chose all of them, and they all led back to me".

NoctPapilio I thought that too. And I could of swore he would walk back into the grass in the end. Because of the repeated loops of him being dead and that particular sentence. I thought he wouldn’t have made it out. And that was his destiny no matter what. Kind of weird it didn’t happen like that.
True. Even Cal tells him because he knows there's a version of him that made a specific turn and ended up in a specific spot.

I think that was what Ross told him, too. Something along the lines of every one of his choices leading him back to Ross and his death as they showed all the dead bodies.
Yup and Travis survive that fall because that's just multiple version of him pile up in the same place
I enjoyed the concept of this film. It certainly had a vision and stuck to it. Time loops, time travel, anything of the sort is a tough subject. Having said that, I did feel like the film relied too much on shock value, on gruesome clashes rather than cathartic ones. I am definitely not squeamish haha. I understood the thriller and horror aspects that a piece like this would confront. I didn't feel like it was done as effectively as it could have been. In all fairness, I only say this because I recently watched The Endless. It is also on Netflix, and like this film, it also dealt with sibling relationships, mystery, horror and a "monster" of sorts. In the Endless I felt the chemistry between the actors that is noticeably in this one; and further, the tension was used much more effectively leading up to the final confrontation. Neither of these is bad, but when comparing the similar subject matter and themes, one left me wanting more. Yeah, if you liked this you'll certainly enjoy The Endless. If you do check it out let me know what you think?

My whole entire mind watching this was thinking lawnmowers
The loop started when Tobin's family stopped near the church..where their dog ran towards the grass and they entered behind their dog Freddie..
Then, Becky and cal entered..and after 2 months Travis did..
But this time Travis called for help..and Tobin heard that..but again they entered because Freddie ran towards the grass..
The loop repeated once again..and this time travis met Tobin and Tobin asked him whether he remembers him or not..
And then takes him to Becky's dead body..next morning, he calls for help, when a new loop started.. this time he knows tobins name..but again.. they entered only because of their dog..
At the end when Travis sent Tobin to stop Becky and cal..he managed to save Becky Cal and also himself..as they r now no more missing..so Travis will never come here to find them..
But Tobin's family will still enter in the Grass because of their dog..Tobin is saved..but one of his loop versions will keep on calling out for help...and thus making new time loops with new people..
That's just me theory..

I would say that the first cycle with this group started when the dog went into the grass at some point
I found it interesting, I just wished another explanation for the loops, the rock sounds just too desperate of an excuse. I liked "endless" even more, so scary.
Tobin touched the rock in a loop but we never saw that loop wipe which I think means the Tobin luring people in is the evil Tobin right? When he shows cal the rock he touches it and he’s the first to touch it but they never explained that.
I started crying at the end of the movie and throughout it I only said “where’s the dog?” I think something is wrong with me

I think the rock was the heart of the field and the whole field was like a person . If you touch your heart, not in a physical way but like connect yourself to its feelings it can make you think of redeeming yourself.

Okay guys, hear me out:
I think it's partly an allegory for religion
Becky is in a vulnerable state (Travis left her she's pregnant) and is lured into the tall grass as is Cal who thinks it is the "right thing" to do saving Tobin (as many people who are moved to try religion; thinking its the "right thing" to do especially for Becky as many young girls who are left by their baby daddies tend to do)
The church is the first religious symbol we see and then Tobin's dad (can't remember his name) states he wanted to be a gospel musician and is ultimately the forst to touch the rock which symbolizes indoctrination and is constantly bringing other characters to the rock trying to get them to touch it and be "redeemed" as he says "you'll know how to get out but won't want to"
The grass people are other people sucked into the grass (read: indoctrinated) and lure others in to feed the field (the church)
When Tobin's dad kills his wife, he crushes her head (symbolically making her unable to think anymore) and tries to catch is son to forcefully indoctrinate him as well
I think the story also has huge symbols against abortion though as well (counterintuitively)
Becky's entire redemption arc is based around keeping the child she thought she didn't want since Travis wasn't around
When she has the baby in the field, Tobin's dad feeds it to her and she dies (the symbolism being if she had the abortion and was crucified by the religion for doing so instead of giving her baby to the pit of indoctrination beneath the rock) and by the end decides to keep the baby and breaks the cycle possibly because Tobin shows her the way out of the dichotomy of: be indoctrinated and keep the baby and a traditional family with her baby daddy who didn't want it in the first place, or give it up entirely. Tobin is the only one to actually escape the grass and breaks through the conventional "rules" (the loop, as well as symbolically not following his father's grass delusions)
So essentially my theory is that this movie is about escaping the endless cycle and duality of either becoming religiously indoctrinated (touching the rock and/or staying in the loop forever, the loop symbolizing the repeating cycle of religion over centuries) or giving up the child because it wouldn't be a traditional family
It also has large redemption themes, not rooted in the characters touching the rock, but rather in them not touching it or in Travis' case, in touching the rock and choosing to help others escape its trap
Idk maybe not, up to you to decide

Alex Rosales yeah that parts left kind of confusing. I have a feeling tobins family is dead though because for him to leave he has to enter in the first place he eventually breaks the cycle but I think that only spares the people who went in after he did. There’s also that scene where tobins family goes in because of the dog and not because of Travis so I assume that reality is the one that occurs when he gets out.
And I believe the copies of them continue to exist in the loops
Tobin was their baby, crazy dad and mum and Tobin are from the future. That’s what binds them together, they aren’t randomly chosen. The movie hints this throughout it (check out the old cars in the church when Tobin and family rock up).
So in the final timeline there’s two Tobins, one yet to be born and one in the car with them.
There needs t be a second one. Idk how it would work, but there needs to be a second one

Idk about Cal's redemption but I think why Tobin got the change eventho he already touch the black rock was because he's still a child ? He didn't get corrupted at all since the beginning I see. Moreover he see and try to understand the whole things, that's why he got another chance to escape from that loop of tall grass.
I think because Tobin had touch the rock before so when he comes back he realises not to touch it that it changes you..its does look like Tobin got out before when he sees Becky and cal go back in the grass

For those who think that at the end there are two Tobin existing together at the same time, let me explain.The situation with the Humbolts is different. It appears that the Humbolts arrived at the church in the silver car that Cal parks behind (it's the only car not covered in dust when we see the Humbolts enter the tall grass later), which would mean that the Humbolts were chronologically the first group to enter the tall grass - even though they were lured in by Travis. Since there was no one to prevent them from going in, and they never managed to escape, it's heavily implied that Ross and Nathalie remain in the tall grass and Tobin has effectively been orphaned. So there is only one Tobin since the original Tobin already entered in the grass.

Still there is no explanation for what caused the change in the causal loop as opposed to all the other time loops? How did Tobin's father find out about the previous time loops? If it's because the rock showed him then he should have forseen him getting his eyes stabbed and being killed by Travis and therefore preventing it. Sorry but too many holes in this field!
