Hearing from riled up and brainwashed Srijata and then hearing from this eloquent, intelligent and critically sound young man, Arpan shows such a stark contrast. Even though people like him exist, it will forever because of societal irritants like the others that such stringent surveillance, rules and hard regulations are required and are absolutely necessary. It is heartbreaking that someone had to lose their life for these issues to come up and become a topic of debate.
Jadavpur is one of institutes where even an interview with certain unacceptable questions asked can be fearful . I have faced it when I was student (daily) years back . Even backlash for our answers from seniors make us ashamed of ourselves . There is no one to express to since you are so new !
The Registrars and administrative officials of all Indian colleges and Universities do not care about ragging, even though the rules are written all over. It is sad that boy died. One hopes the killers face justice and not just a suspension from college and reinstatement or transfer to another college after a few years. Have seen such things happen and young boys leaving engineering and medicine courses, years after working hard, only because of the tremendous difficulties and beatings they face from some seniors.

Since this is a national platform, I request all good folks from across the country to do your bit to blacklist this university where a certain vice chancellor was harassed by the scoundrels (never use 'students' when it comes to JU miscreants) for trying to install CCTV in the campus.. Drugs, illicit physical relationship between students, ragging of sadistic proportions all these are the highlights of this so called 'prestigious' Institute... I am from Kolkata.. We just know these things. The JU main hostel outside the university campus is simply a criminal den where hostel super, security personnel, freshers are beaten up... And ironically, this hostel shares its boundary wall with the Jadavpur Police Station.. Unthinkable!
