I love the concept and this was a great video, but it feels like the buffs and nerfs could’ve been… more universal? Like most of the buffs and nerfs were simple. Size changes, speed changes, and strength changes. It made sense. But then you get to DK, who has a buff for Up B distance, and Wario who cannot use Up B. And Sonic’s nerf is his insane speed decrease. I feel like it would’ve been more in line for DK and Wario to get attribute changes (Wario maybe gets a decrease in air speed and DK gets a buff in air speed for example). They just stuck out like sore thumbs.
Yeah I thought this video was pretty dumb like almost all of the characters buffs were like size increase or something useless like he did olimar so dirty
Seriously, why is being bigger even considered a buff? Like, yes, more range, but also bigger hit boxes.

It's kinda sad that we live in a time where a 77 out of 100 is considered a "bad" game. I understand this was all based on the scale Nick more or less made up, but he was REALLY harsh on anything lower than an 80. And I'm not pointing at Nick on this one; this is the general trend of the gaming industry in general...

@@justinholland6132I think the scale also is skewed based on the games available in this mod. It’s only games of smash characters, so it’s unlikely to have really badly rated games in it.
Being a harsh with lower than 70 makes sense, but 80??? really??
@@banjo9158 Really? On whose scale? Even if you were to take an academic scale, a 70 is at least average. Sure, that's not great, but it should be better than most games. A 50 should mean it is right down the middle not "failing".

I'd say the score for KI: Uprising is actually really easy to explain: The control scheme. The game is really fun, the writing is amazing, but god damn the controls can hamper the enjoyment after you play for a while.
Would love to see a similar idea with flat multipliers based on the first game the character appeared in. For example: Pikachu's multiplier is based on Pokémon Red & Blue, Chrom on Fire Emblem Awakening, et cetera.

10:48 Man this is the problem with re-releases of older games on metacritic. They get a new score of their game as if it's a new game that came out and people who reviewed the game treated as if it was released that year and not when it actually came out. I know the game itself has it to where some cutscenes are messed up as well as the game in general not being as well designed as the first game, but still. And the worst part is that they treat the first game as if it was the N64 copy, while they treat the second game as if it was only released through rare replay even though both games are on that game so that makes no sense at all!!!

Possible mod idea: Characters have their canonical damage buffs for certain opponents.
Example: Mega Man's metal blade does extra damage to plant or bubble (water) themed opponents, Roy's Sword of Seals does extra damage dragons (Reptiles) or demon (dark) themed opponents,
or Link's Master Sword does extra damage to evil themed opponents.
Richter's uppecut functioning like it does in SotN would be the 1 buff the Belmonts need to be good.

Now that I think about it, the Fire Emblem characters would be kind of broken, since critical damage bonuses work on a coefficient of three. So, if Marth or Roy fought a reptilian enemy, anytime they use a move with the Exalted Falchion or Sword of Seals (which is literally all of them, excluding throws) then they would do triple damage. Also, Megaman would probably have at least one effective move for every character, given his wide variety of bullshit in his kit.
Olimars is wrong. It says his lowest is 85, but Pikmin Bloom and Hey! Pikmin were both lower (65 and 69 respectively)
Starfox Assault ruled, I had more fun with that game in local multiplayer with my brother than I do now with most games.

These hacked CPU tourneys are so fun to watch. How about one where a character gets buffed if the randomly selected stage if from their series? I don't know if that would be possible, but it would be an interesting one to see if it is.

two players split the cast in half based on what games they've played, and then rate the games theyre from, buff and nerf the characters then play each other
Like i really like kid icarus uprising and fire emblem 3 houses so id pick those 2, and Dark Pit and Byleth would be really strong. But if i got corrin, id rate their game like a 5/10 so they'd be pretty bad

Regarding the Up-B of DK at his fight with Pit.
I think Normal jumps are affected by size, but Up-B distance is not. So small DK moves as much as he would move in his original size, that's why it looks like he got buffed in Up-B

I really want to see how Ness and Lucas would do with this concept. I would assume they would do quite well. EarthBound and Mother 3 are some of my favorite games of all time.

I like the idea, and I know it's for the content, but it hurts when you call anything that's still above 75 a "bad game". That's like saying that a 4* restaurant is a bad restaurant because 5* are so much better. I would say when you get below 60 is when people consider them to be very flawed
