All your lessons are very valuable for me as a novice learning Dutch. I enjoy the clarity when you explain the topic to us and I enjoy the manner of your discussion. The examples are wonderful that you give us. And the natural way you excuse yourself is lovely and personable. Your interjections are not distracting and as I said, charming. Thank you very much. I live in Canada where I would be charged more than $1100 to learn beginners’ Dutch at school for 10 weeks by zoom video (University of Waterloo). I asked Admission Department in January 2023. There were not enough students to proceed. That is too much money. I will watch more videos from your playlist soon.
Thanks a lot for your heartwarming comment. Hm, yes, 1100 is a lot. I mostly use Italki sporadically and government-funded classes (150 or so a year), so I combine classroom and personal support. But well... companies have to make money.
Bedankt! Faschinating stuff! I've been doing this since the day one of my Dutch learning journey. I don't know why it's not a more popular approach to learn Dutch. It makes so much sense, specially if you already know English, German or even French. Dutch word structure is one of the most logical ones out there.
Alain, you helped me better understand the suffixes I'm currently learning. I was so confused! Some of the results of ground word+suffix looked like new adjectives and other times they look like nouns. I wasn't sure if there was one grammatical rule for suffixes or different ones for each. I understand now that each pairing of ground word+suffix has it's own meaning and function.
1000 thanks for this very useful video. i was looking for a video like this for a long time. is possible to do part two of the same subject? thank you in advance.
Great, I was looking forward to find a video explaining that, thank you! Maybe can you explain the words in English ended in tion bit in the specific cases in dutch ending in ING like vertaling and the others ending in TIE like optie.. thank you so much!!! Great explanation 👌🏻
Thanks for your comment and suggestion. Unfortunately, I don't think there are specific rules for words ending in -tion. For example, explanation is 'uitleg' and station is 'station.' However, it is true most of these words will end with -tie or -ing.
Your videos are amazing, do you plan to put together a course for beginners ? . That will really help the students learn in a structured way, especially those who don’t live in the Netherlands. I was in Den Haag for 2 years and then moved to Singapore last year and find a bit difficult to access a good language school that provides Dutch language lessons.
