I can 100% agree with EVERYTHING about this review, I am about 2 weeks in (10-12 hours of time in the cleats) with my X Fly 5 cleats, after months of trying to find a cleat (and several hundred dollars) that wont give me blisters. 0 break in, even with existing hot spots (areas I had blisters in 1 week ago) on my heels, these didn't hurt or give me blisters. I think for me the biggest difference is the micro suede in the heel, my heel feels 100% locked in with absolutely no slippage (wearing grip socks as well). Your original review saved my @$$ and wallet. Cannot thank you enough for quality reviews. Also, I wear an 11 and went true to size, and fits perfect for me.

@@vettomn I was lucky enough to find a set on ebay new without the box. But otherwise, I think the only place you will be able to find them will be through the ebay store Noah suggested. They apparently no longer offer them through US retailers.

Circling back and re-watching this video, you mention the 99.1 Leathers are top of the list from a raw performance perspective, but overall you like these better. We're currently using and loving the 99.1s and CrazyFast +, but we haven't yet had any away matches on AG this year, but they are coming. We are still contemplating keeping these...my son said they were a little too pointy in the toe box, but we suspect they would break in fine, or we'd put the stretcher on them. For hard FG surfaces, my son loves the 99.1s, and also the Crazy Fast +, but I don't think either will be great on AG. Thus, whatchu think about using this boot primarily for AG surfaces...a specialty boot effectively, since he only plays occasional matches on AG. Thanks again for the feedback!

Really happy this review popped up on my feed. I've been wanting to try Asics cleats for quite a long time. The size down recommendation was a nice call out, went a half size down and they feel great, extremely close fit. Also the seller recommendation helped a ton.

I tried the shoe stretchers upon your recommendation and that 🤯The synthetic material is fantastic like you said hard to tell it is not real leather. Love the rigidity of the sole plate and the heel is perfect for me. 🙏🏼

Fantastic boot, however, the back four studs are very long so they cling a lot to AG. Would be 10/10 if they had an AG-specific version. The Asics DS Light AG have a great soleplate but the fit is surprisingly narrow for a Japanese boot. On the other hand, the Asics DS Light X Fly 5 Special Edition (FG) has an amazing fit.

So, i got a pair and they were AWESOME! However, for some reason my pair started getting sole separation almost instantly. I train two times a week with my semi pro team. By our 3rd training session, I could already tell the sole separation was happening. I was only using them on an AG pitch. I play GK too. So, I was taken aback just a bit. I still have them but they are going to be mainly my training boots at this point. Other things and this may be just from playing on them on AG only, but the white leather paint is also already starting to come off as well. Just a heads up if anyone worries about those things.

Any plans to get the X Fly pro 2? I have the x fly 5's and love them to bits, but the pro 2's are so damn tempting. The only thing I dont like about the x fly is I feel the sole plate could be a bit stiffer. The pro's are being sold for less than the Mizuno elites

Hello, Noah! Are they slick on the ball then? What about in wet conditions? I have a pair of the original DS lite in synthetic and when it's raining the ball slides right off. Cannot bend or even dribble the way I want. As always, thanks for the very informative review, sir!
Only a little bit! In wet conditions it doesn't make much of a difference mate
I've found some success applying a small a very thin layer of DAP silicon adhesive (available from hardware store) to add grip in both wet and dry conditions. Applied to the side foot strike zone. Seems to work better on some boot materials more than others. It's not permanent, for better and for worse.

Due to being wide at the toes/forefoot area, very few boots work fit for my son. The Adidas 99.1 work well, but I have to periodically re-apply shoe goo to tip of toe to prevent the leather from abrading and eventually tearing (on our 2nd pair now), and thus I seek an alternative. Do you think these might fit this foot shape and be more durable for someone who scrapes the ground when shooting? He's a speedy winger...do these feel light and fast like the 99.1s?
They do! I'd go true to size though instead of 1/2 size down like I recommended in the video

So in your opinion, which cleat should i get? the synthetic asics x fly 5 or the k-leather asics x fly 5. I am a huge leather boot fan so I want to see if the synthetic version is good because I love the colorway on the white and blue ones. And which one do you think has the more padded touch to it kind of like the tiempo legend 9 and morelia 2 because imo I like the padded touch better than the barefoot touch.

Couldn't get a UK8 in the 5s, so opted for the DS Light X-Fly Pro Limited in the same colourway. I couldn't see a one month review on the Pros. Got any gripes with the Pro, mate?
Love it mate! Pros don't fit my foot as well - the shape is just a bit different and not for my foot! Class boots though

You can absolutely go true to size, I just prefer the super tight fit of the .5 size down
What would be the difference between these boots and the DS LIGHT XFLY PRO. the studs look similar but not drastically different.

Hi Noah! how do you clean the leather portion of the boots at the front? it will probably have black marks once I start playing with it for quite some time. Im having problem at removing the black stains on the leather! Please help
it's part of the game. or wear black.
I use baby shampoo n soft toothbrush n wipe with a clean cloth... Not 100% but does remove those stains

1/2 size down will be tight at first, but in my experience they stretch well around your foot

This synthetic leather has to be the closest to natural leather on a football boot. Even from just a visual standpoint.

I really wish asics sold these in Australia and they were easily purchase-able. Hey Noah, why don’t you rate Puma and Adidas boots as much as say New Balance, Asics, Mizuno ( as much as these less popular football boots)?
For sure mate! The ratings are based on real-life performance and in training experience! Unfortunately for Adidas and Puma, they don't really stack up right now for me (aside from the CrazyFast+ and maybe the Future Ultimate).

If you like tighter fitting boots, go with an 8.5! If you want a bit more wiggle-room, go 9!

I’m someone with a medium width midfoot but a wide forefoot/toebox. Any recommendations?
I too would like to ask Noah how these would work for for this foot type. My Son is exactly this. After watching Noah's review of the Adidas 99.1s, he picked up a pair and said they were the most comfortable cleats he's ever tried. Although he had to replace relatively quickly because he tore the toe because he scrapes the ground hard when shooting, so I'm looking for a a pair of synthetics that he is comfortable in.
My foot profile sounds a lot like yours. On his original unboxing he had recommended going 0.5 size down… they were too small / cramped in the toe box with the thinnest grip socks I owned. Ended up getting another pair true to size and it was great on me.
These will be just fine for your foot type, although I'd recommend going true to size for your foot shape

@@NoahCavanaugh I do like the lift to be honest. I'm 44 now and have been playing since I'm 5, so the extra support is great. Can't play in anything except asics anymore, if i want to walk normally the next day.
Which one is prefer x-fly4 or x-fly5 or x-fly 5se??
The 4 and 5 are quite different. 4s are speedier whereas the 5 have a bit more padding and comfort so feel abit more like a midfielders boot.
Didn't really feel much if a difference between the SE 5 and normal 5 so pick whichever you prefer!
All 3 are very good actually. I prefer the 5 SE for the fit, feel, and durability.
