    Its very sad when we lose a tree especially when it looks as good as the conifer in the video does - i really like the idea of repurposing it by spraying - fantastic.

    Just recently lost my bonsai I kept for close to 4 years when it didn't acclimate to the weather in my new area, and it's still a hard pill to swallow. I'm hoping to continue it's legacy by turning it into mulch for one of my other plants

    Have you tried using beneficial bacteria to the soil when potting your trees? The bacteria works in harmony with the roots and sometimes a little item like this will help in the life of the tree. Yes, I have lost trees to and did your scratch and see method. Very good tutorial. Short and to the point. Excellent. I know that Xtreme Gardening has great beneficial bacteria.

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Are you referring to microrizal bacteria? I don’t specifically add anything to our soil mixture because the fertilizer we use has microrizal bacteria which helps to improve the soil. This tree simply died because it got too much sun and not enough water

    • @farmert9679
      @farmert9679 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WeareTheBonsaiSupply Yes. I use the beneficial bacteria in my soil along with worm compost. It is great that your fertilizer does have it. The bacteria and the roots grow hand in hand with each other. I have lost trees also that way. Sometimes a deep watering of the tree once a week keeps the soil from drying out to fast. I find that this helps with my trees from drying out to fast and helps in the prevention of soil compaction.

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@farmert9679 that’s a good approach. This is why we use such coarse soil, it never compacts and it aerate the roots all the way. This way I can also deep water every day.

    I have a Chinese Elm with no leaves, or buds and it is Summertime here in Kentucky. It looks dead so I did the scratch test and it was green underneath. The top of the tree is a reddish-brown color. So, what can I do for it -is there a way to help it? It is outside in the sun.

    Can u put a picture of your Bonsai tree that u spray painted too! 😢I think ours is probably dead to & it is special to:( it was the same age as my daughter on her 17th birthday and she is 19 now and it looks pretty brown so I’m thinking if I am so glad that you mention spray painting it. I just want to see how yours looks and I haven’t checked but it’s been by having to check the scrape thing but it’s been browned for quite a few months and started in the fall last year so I thought maybe it was OK but I don’t think it is. What kind of light should I use for starting a kit growing from seeds or maybe a established one 6-10 inches tall ? I saw on a old video you said a red blue grow light but I'm not certain I know what you mean. Is it just the purplish looking led that comes in lamp or hanging multi leds (red &blue)?

    I've been watching your channel for a few months now. And very much enjoy your content. And about two/three months ago I defoliated several/many of my pre bonsai trees. I'm in central FL. Zone 9b. Most of my trees bounced back nicely but 2 azaleas and my boxwood did not and I'm thinking they didn't handle being defoliated. Cuz they were healthy before I did that. I defoliated 3 azaleas. The one that pulled through I did not defoliate so intensely as the 2 that didn't make it. I still have those 2 hoping maybe they will bounce back but they look like goners. No new growth. Are there some spieces of trees that you really shouldn't defoliate? There seems to be some life in my boxwood but it's seriously going down hill and no new growth either. Any suggestions to bring back a dying tree? Sorry I have so many questions but I don't see a lot of other bonsia channels suggesting complete defoliation of their trees. So more questions... Are there some spieces which you should not defoliate? Is it better to wait until the tree is several years old? Is there a better time of year to do it? I did mine in the middle of summer here in central FL. Maybe you could do a video on which trees can handle complete defoliation and exactly when it should be done.
