    DL is a pure love.

    The gorgeous lead guitarist with the long blonde hair is Steve Clark. Classically trained guitarist and a brilliant musician and songwriter. It’s the 30th anniversary of his death on the 8th January. He was just 30. Broke many hearts including mine still.

      He was one of the BEST!!...Imagine how Much He Would Have Contributed With Another 30 Years Under His Belt!😌.....Poor guy had Some TERRIBLE ISSUES with His Dad Always saying he was "Just Not That Good of a Guitarist!"😬.....From everything that I Read, and Heard (Back in the Day.)...His Father Just Ruined Steve's Psychological Well Being!😡...What a TRAGEDY!.....STEVEN CLARK PLAYED THOSE GIBSONS WITH SOUL!!!😥😢😭

    • @karenglenn6707
      @karenglenn6707 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Those guitars were an extension of his body. He never felt worthy enough, had no self confidence even with that amazing talent. He was so sensitive and tortured that he just gave up on life. I’m sure he feels the love that is here for him so strongly, how could he not! Just so loved!

    This band's been through hell. Drummer Rick Allen lost his left arm in a car accident. Guitarist Steve Clark died from alcoholism. Replacement guitarist Vivian Campbell has cancer. Still kickin' ass and rockin' to this day. Props always to Def Leppard.

  • @Mainecoonlady.
    @Mainecoonlady. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One of the best bands of the 80s. Many hits and lots of tragedy. The original line up was the perfection match of amazing musicians that could all sing in perfect harmonies. The drummer Rick Allen, lost his left arm in a violent car crash where the seatbelt severed his arm. After recovery and rehab, he refurbed his drums to add a second pedal to replace the arm. He re-learned how to play with one arm and two foot pedals. Genius. Then Steve Clark, classically trained guitarist, died of alcoholism. He was an amazing musician and although replaced by Vivian Campbell, his technique was missed. The other two guitarists, Phil Collen and Rick Savage were able to balance out the void left by Steve’s death. RIP Steve. Finally, Joe Elliott on vocals is the perfect frontman. He kept the audience engaged. These are incredibly good looking men that entertained stadiums filled with devoted fans. They still tour. If we ever have concerts again, this band is one concert not to miss. Hope you do more from them.

    Did someone day something about the da leps? 30+year fan here. I started late with Hysteria. The lp that marked a great comeback after Rick Allen lost his arm but before Steve Clark passed on. So I became a die hard and life time fan in 1987. It is nice to see the young people of today enjoying music from when I was their age. Goes to show class acts do live on.

    FORTY TWO years ago tis month was my first time hearing Def Leppard. They were the opening act of a super Sunday of R&R in June of 1979. Def Leppard opened followed by Eddie Money, The Cars, Cheap Trick and finally Todd Rundgren & Utopia. It was very hot and I was surrounded by over 50K partiers. Herb was being passed around all over. To be young again!

    It never gets old. The comments I see about how great a band they are. They've been my favorite band since I heard Bringing On the Heartbreak in 1981.
    I've been to one concert and it was Def Leppard in 2016. Got backstage pass, meet-and-greet, and pics with the guys.

    The drummer lost an arm in an accident and the band didn’t ditch him. They adjusted their music. Respect.

    • @chameleon6222
      @chameleon6222 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The drums are modified as well so that he can compensate with his foot what he used to do with his arm!

    • @TheMedievalman9
      @TheMedievalman9 4 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Even better? Their producers wanted them to ditch him, because they knew it would be years before he would be able to learn how to play the drums again and they feared that by the time their drummer was ready to join them again, the band's fans would have moved on from them. Def Leppard refused, and waited. The result? Their next album was the highest selling album they'd ever released. Sometimes, karma works in your favour.

    Def Leppard's Hysteria album was & still is the world's best produced album. It got them in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame. This album when released waaaay back in 1987 set the bar as for technical excellence in studio recording. Everyone wishes their band's album sounded this good., even today in our digital world.

    Man this makes the memories flood in! Went to college in SoCal, lived in Central Cal, and would drive back and forth a lot of weekends. I lived for cruising down I5 (Interstate 5) at night with the passing city lights of L.A. and chillin to this song over and over (as well as the whole Hysteria album of course 😉). Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Love that you like it 👍🏻

    There is a recent LIVE concert footage of 'Bringin on the Heartbreak' followed by the instrumental 'Switch 625' (which should always be played together) and a short one armed drum solo. It shows how technically talented guitarist Vivian Campbell and Phil Colin are and how bad ass they still are after all these years.
