  • LET'S ENJOY some Jamaican Easter Bun!
    In this video I show you how to make a traditional Jamaican Easter Bun using yeast to make the dough. With this method, the texture is more like bread. Easter bun is the same as Spice Bun, but with lots of dried fruits added. It takes a little longer to make, but it's definitely worth the wait.

    Jamaican Easter Bun Recipe (Yeast Method)
    Ingredients*
    4 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
    1 tbsp. Baking Powder
    2 tsps. Nutmeg
    2 tsps. Cinnamon
    2 tsps. Mixed Spice (Baking Spice)
    1 tsp. Ginger Powder
    1 tsp. Salt
    1 tbsp. Yeast
    1/2 cup Raisins (soaked)
    1/2 cup Mixed Peel (same as mixed fruit)
    3/4 cup Guinness (Can substitute with Dragon Stout or Malta)
    4 tbsps. Unsalted Butter
    1 tbsp. Molasses
    1/2 tbsp. Browning
    3 tbsps. Honey
    1 tbsp. Jam
    1 tbsp. Vanilla Extract
    1/2 cup Brown Sugar
    1 Egg
    Glaze
    1 tbsp. Unsalted Butter
    1 tbsp. Jam or Honey
    📌IF USING INSTANT YEAST
    Add directly to dry ingredients, minus the salt. Add salt to wet ingredients instead.
    📌IF USING DRY ACTIVE YEAST
    Add to 3 tbsps. of hot water with 1/2 tsp. granulated sugar. Water should be between 105° and 115° F (41°C and 66° C). Cover and keep warm for 10 minutes for it to proof.

      @@juenfokitchen i use guiness and baking powder only and it rises significantly, but instead of dough, i make a batter.

      There's a video on the channel in which I make one using a batter. I made this one using yeast as there is more than one method to making Easter bun. So that my audience will have options.

    Bun looks very dry

      It should 'look' dry, it's a yeast bun.
