Big hook through the back. Use a bobber / float. It makes the gill look wounded to the bass because they are not swimming as they should be. Let them take it and run for a bit. Since the hook is in the back it's less likely to hurt your bass also. Great video.

@@MillikenFishing circle hooks have a better chance to hook them in the jaw and they usually hook themselves

Awesome video! For a better hook-up ratio, try using a smaller J hook. The fish don't see it as much because of the smaller profile, you get a better hook set then a circle hook, and you don't have to worry about hooking them in the throat as long as you set the hook pretty quickly after he hits it. I used to use little bream at a pond right beside my house when I was just big enough to fish and it was the best time of my childhood
A small pond upgrade video would be awsome. (Solor aeration, fountain, something to increase water quality for better growth rates)

I def prefer the tail hook over the head hook when live baiting, seems like it works a lil better

When using a circle hook you want to let them run with it for a good bit and then after reeling down on them and they start jerking back then set the hook. My dad fishes catfish tournaments and using circle hooks and that is the safest and best way to use them in the years he’s done it. Hope this helps

What i do to catch the bass is I hook the blue gill in its upper back and let the bass run with it for a good bit. I always hook them in the mouth like that

I have watched bass feed on underwater cameras on live bait they will swim off stop ✋️ and take their time to turn the food the way they want to eat it. And then swallow it again and that's when you have to usually rip the lips.
You have to try to hook him right through the back.1" under the top fin. that's how we do it,works. The little man will be ripping lips before you know it, time flies.👍✌️

I mean, his parents are already Yankee, he’s got strike one, even before going up to bat... lol.

FYI, it’s much better being a Yankee, than a California or any western state for that matter. Texas has a East infection, no doubt, but it’s the west’s cancer that’s killing everything we hold dear.
When using bluegills you gotta wait forever for them to eat also wouldn’t head hook them it has bad hook up ratio. Either tail or back.

I do have a question for the guy that has me throwing big baits for big fish. I can only get one for now, so if you only had one color of Draw to throw, in stained to clear water, Which word it be? 🤔
Cajun gill has done good for me in both stained and clear water conditions.
For catchin bluegill on lures use a 1/16 size beetle spin, that one ur lil one is using looks like a 1/4 or 1/6
Edit: and it works with a bobber but it works best feeling just like a spinner bait for bass

Your Money Pawn looks like it could be hello water level problem the Ghibli about a foot higher a bond of that size 1 inch of water all over the van is about a million gallons you need to slow down the water coming out of pause and fill it up and then get a small excavator and take all the mud and silt out of the bottom till you get to the clay layer then you dump a bunch of clay and big rocks in there and I mean as big as you can fit in the bucket of the excavator it makes good cover for the say put some big rocks in there the biggest you can get civil change the flow dynamics of the pond
Bro you don’t need to use a shark hook. I use a hook half the size and I always catch em
