Brings back great memories.. I was there 7 years ago, and looking at this video it still hasn't changed to this day,, It is the most Enchanted place I've ever visited.. The clip of the Castle dosn't do it justice, I've always said if I came into a large some of money and I could pick any were in the world to live then Heidelberg be the first on my list, then the states..fingers crossed going back there soon.. from a Yorkshire man living in the UK
I was stationed near Heidelberg in the early '70s, while in the us army. I spent a good deal of time, just hanging out on these streets. It is, indeed, a wonderful town.
I lived in Patrick Henry Village as a child about 50 years ago while my Dad was stationed in Heidelberg. I have very fond memories of Heidelberg. I feel fortunate having the experiences of being a military brat and having lived in many places in the world.
@@MeganKrejci I was able to pull up the housing we lived in while in Heidelberg. Do you remember some train tracks and a BP station per chance? If so, you would probably know the building where I lived.
I also lived in Patrick Henry Village in 1955 and then moved to Bremerhaven. The castle was a wonderful tour for the kids and the tour guide told about interesting people who lived in the castle.
Stationed at RAF Hospital Wegberg, 1956-1959, my first trip to Heidelberg in early '57 on my James 197cc motor bike, it was a great way to enjoy the country, especially keeping to either sides of the Rhine & Mosel rivers. I was never this crowded during my visits. The movie, Student Prince was current movie, which inspired my trips to Heidelberg. Great memories- would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks for sharing 😆
I was stationed in Seckenheim and worked at US army Command Headquarters in Heidelberg at Campbell barracks from 1959 to 1961.....loved this place, I could live here.
I live there for many many years make sure you take a stroll down Untere Straße it has some nice bars and you can get away from the hoardes of tourist. Also if your here in Sept you can go to Heidelberger Herbst a nice fest I think it is Sept 10,2010 chek it out
What I would give 2 go back to Germany (2005-2009) so much culture and love the ppl ...Used to live in Leimen for bout four months and I would hop on a street train right to Heidelberg but had to move to Mannheim but always went back 2 visit Heidelberg
I was a military brat in Stuttgart and ended up joining the military to spend two tours of Ansbach and Heidelburg among several other locations including South Korea. I now reside as retired in Thailand!
That is so interesting to me -- the musician was very appealing and I often wondered about her Heidelberg connection, thanks for telling me. It was filmed quite a while ago, showing my age, maybe ten years ago?
Thanks Lynn. It was filmed in early October, which I always find is the perfect month for Europe travels. April has similar nice weather and is "off-season" but gets more crowded with school groups everywhere.
Thank you very much for your fast response, I really appreciate it. I just came back from Scandinavia and planning to go to Germany next year. All of your Scandinavia videos became real to my eyes. I was watching your Vietnam travel video and so surprised that you are very knowledgeable about my homeland historical. Thanks again for your kindness and may God richly bless you.
Look for the Schizlebank around the corner from the Dubliner. One of the Best Winestube in the Alt Stadt !! Bauamtgasse I think. Just ask anyone! Great food white wine on tap! Smoking area on the porch! otherwise no smoking......Ask for Jeannie............ha ha
