  • New court with great grip and a net (probably not for long), and felt like 10ft. Still focusing/wasting most of my time and energy on the J Rich eastbay and under the legs dunks because they're just straight up annoying me at this point. Really want to practice elbow dunk variations but I'm not game enough to try on any of these stiff outdoor rings. Michael was killing this sesh with his Smoove self lobs and his rock the cradle off the lob.

Haha thanks man. My reach is 8'1 and Michael's must be around 8'3.

Do you do any leg workouts or is this just pure athleticism?

For parts of last year and this year I've been lifting for legs at least twice a week, normally after dunking. But before then I was already jumping this high from years of repetitive jumping and dunking. Leg training has helped my single leg vert a little bit.

Brodie Stephens I'm 6'5 and have never touched weights. I rely off my height and athleticism. I had terrible knee pain in my left knee, which was my leg I jumped off of. I can't dunk off two feet. With one leg I can do one hand, two hand, and reverse. My knee feels good now after time off. Should I do legs to strengthen my knee or could that possibly re-injure it?

What was the injury? My only knee pain has been patellar tendinitis which I've successfully healed pretty quickly.

Brodie Stephens I'm pretty sure it was the same thing. My knee hurt below the knee cap and kind of right on it. I tried braces and the patella straps. I had to take time off and it healed. I'm wondering if lifting will strengthen or mess it up again because I've been playing with no pain

I'm not the best person to ask about it honestly. But you can start with including bounding/sprinting into your leg workout schedule. Also focus on glute exercises like hip thrusts and glute bridges.

Brodie Stephens appreciate the feedback. you and i are exactly the same height and age and i can dunk decently Well off of 2 feet. of off one foot i can only grab the rim with 2 hands. i want to be able to dunk during a fast break man

Simply keep trying to dunk off 1. Make sure your jumping mechanics are on point... chest pointing up to the ring, strong opposite knee drive, no toe drag, perfect stride length, speed in the final 2-3 steps before the jump (including the penultimate step). Lots of info out there on all of this.
