    GET BAPTIZED MAYBE
    An original song by Isaac Parkinson
    To the tune of "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen
    Video Produced and Directed by Jace Cox
    I turned 19 you can tell
    Distanced myself from dark hell
    I Did not try to Rebel
    And now its time to pray
    I'll give two years for a mish
    Facebook password to my sis
    Filled my canteen with a kiss (said goodbye to my miss)
    And now today's the day
    The mail was slow n postage it was low n
    Big night friends no show n
    Where you think I'm going? (Boise?)
    Hey I just met you,
    And this is crazy
    But here's some scriptures
    Get baptized maybe
    Its hard to work right
    When your comp's lazy
    But here's some scriptures
    Get baptized maybe?
    Hey I just met you,
    And this is crazy
    But here's some scriptures
    Get baptized maybe?
    And all the local dogs
    Try to chase me
    But here's some scriptures
    Get baptized maybe
    New comp is from senegal
    I missed parents phone call
    Already made it through fall
    And now its time to pray
    Another green jello meal
    Joseph Smith he was for real
    No I do not drug deal
    And now its time to pray
    Time it was rolling, attacked while we're strolling
    P-Day we went bowling
    Just taught another lesson baby
    Hey I just met you,
    And this is crazy
    But here's some scriptures
    Get baptized maybe?
    It's hard to work right
    When my girl dumped me
    But here's some scriptures
    Get baptized maybe?
    Hey I'm a Mormon
    And this is crazy
    But here's a ballot
    Vote Romney maybe?
    If you are left wing
    Take this CTR ring
    But here's the scriptures
    Get baptized maybe?
    When I get home I'll find a wife
    That I want so bad
    That I want so bad
    That I want so, so bad
    When I get home I'll find a wife
    That I want so bad
    And you should know that
    That I want so, so bad
    Your down for 6 oclock
    We're kinda busy
    But here's some scriptures
    Get baptized maybe?
    Hey I just met you
    And this is crazy
    But here's my number
    So text me maybe?
    And all I do is teach
    You can't replace me
    But here's some scriptures
    Get baptized maybe?
    Best two years of my life
    And I am so glad
    And I am so glad
    And I am so, so glad
    Best two years of my life
    And I am so glad
    And you should know that
    And I am so, so glad
    Get Baptized Maybe?

    I'm Baptist! I just want to say, the work you guys do is amazing! I have shown your "Virtue" video on my Facebook wall 2 or 3 times. I don't care who is doing the work to instill values in our young society today as long as someone is. You guys should get awards for the message you put out. Unfortunately, there are always a few lost souls who have to be so negative. Hopefully, one day, before they die they will repent. I will take this opportunity now to apologize to you for their nasty posts. It takes a lot of "no's" to get a few "yes's". I AM PROUD OF YOU.

    The lyrics were written several weeks before the missionary entered the MTC... He didn't have any part in the production of the video, that was done by his cousins and their friends!! He just got to his mission 2 days ago after spending 8 weeks in the MTC. Don't worry, he will be an AWESOME MISSIONARY!!!

    Jace, I just want to say that I absolutely LOVED your video!!
    I am a convert to the Church, this year marks my 10th year as a member. I'm the first person in my family to join the Church, however, my husband (2nd) has been a member all his life. My son from my previous marriage was 6 years old when I joined the Church and he was baptized at age 8. He is now 15 and I'm hoping he will choose to serve a mission. I'm going to show him your video as I know it will have an impact on him.
    I also want to thank you for serving a mission. It was due to the missionaries that I joined the Church. I was raised Catholic and when my husband and I first married I refused to let him talk to me about the Church. We lived in a very small town and it was common for him to have the missionaries over for dinner. At first, I would let them come for dinner, but only on the condition that they did NOT discuss the Church. Well, long story short, after several (and I do mean several) sets of missionaries, and about a year and a half, I finally got baptized. If it wasn't for their patience, and for them being led by inspiration, I may not have ever been baptized. I wish I could go into more detail, but this is not the place.
    I know I made the right decision and I've never been happier. I have a special place in my heart for all missionaries and the work that they do. My dream is to one day go on a couples mission with my husband. Thank you again for your missionary work!
    P.S. My husband and I were sealed in the temple in September 2010, one of the happiest days of my life! I'm looking forward to the day my son turns 18 and no longer needs permission from his biological father to be sealed to us as well. Then I will be completely at peace...

    • @causeimbatmaaan
      @causeimbatmaaan 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't remain sealed to Satan! Remember your baptism into Christ. And through Christ's wounds on the cross you are healed, your sin forgiven, no debt to pay, no worrying if you've done enough. There is only one way which is Jesus Christ, true God and true man who bore the cross as a perfect sacrifice for all. Lead your son to salvation in the true God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three in one, Holy Trinity; no God before or after but he that created all things.

    • @causeimbatmaaan
      @causeimbatmaaan 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Yeah...well the Bible says that we [Christians] are supposed to warn others that believe in lies, mormons, so that they don't suffer forever after they die an earthly death.
      Mormons worship a false god that has nothing to do with the Jesus of the Bible; or anything to do with the Holy Trinity.
      Essentially all who worship any one or thing that is not the LORD that is Father,Son = Christ Jesus and Holy Spirit coequal and co-eternal is to worship Satan.
      Sounds like a mean thing to say but would you really consider knowing that people are in danger and not telling them to be love?

    • @schris413
      @schris413 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      causeimbatmaaan You must have heard from third parties of the beliefs of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Read the Book of Mormon and the Bible and you will see that they complement one another. You can find a copy of the Book of Mormon on-line at lds.org or from any missionary. You will not find any false god worshiping.

    • @schris413
      @schris413 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** Thank you for your testimony. It is so great to hear from those who find the truth. As a missionary, there is nothing better than being able to bring that truth to people.

    • @causeimbatmaaan
      @causeimbatmaaan 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      schris413 The book of mormon adds law to the gospel and confiscates the glory that is owed to Christ.
      Here is a good example: 2 Nephi 25:23: “…for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.”
      The words "after all we can do" are added to the words in the Bible at Ephesians 2:8 which says: "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God". And even worse it hides the grace of God from the sinner.
      Adding to or taking away from scripture is forbidden in scripture and it warns of what will happen to one who does such a heinous thing.
      The book of mormon contradicts true scripture and is in outright dissagreement with it, that is God's Word the Bible.
      It has been shown above. Everything in the Bible testifies that belief in Christ is the only way. Everything in the book of mormon says that you must first do the law and that their christ came only to forgive the sin of Adam in the beginning.
      Mormonism hijacks the name "Christian" but they are two very different things and mormons have a very different god.

  • @nattiepearson9486
    @nattiepearson9486 9 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I am a Mormon, and I believe when you judge others you are assuming the role of God, Mathew 1:7 says: "Judge not that ye be not judged." The lord said "I the Lord will forgive whome I will Forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men."
    people who think our religion believes in polygamy, and that we are against blacks and women are wrong take for example Alex Boye, Lindsey Stirling, and Jenny Oaks baker for example.
    Also one of my favorite poems titled gossip says:
    Gossip like leaves blows in the wind.
    Once it is whispered, it scatters and then,
    Like leaves is impossible to gather back in.
    Words once they are spoken can not be unsaid.
    Leaving shattered reputations and lives full of dread.
    Crushing repentant and innocent lives,
    Making change for the better task of great size.
    Which of us is perfect? Who would cast the first stone?
    Let's show Christ-like love, or leave them alone.
    Gossip and whispers are never a cure,
    But make problems larger and innocent victems for sure.
    So when you speak of others, don't scatter in the wind,
    Leaves of poison you can never gather back in.\~Sharon Hunt

    Okay, I have to say it. I have been a Mormon all my life and I wouldn't have any other way. This video may seem stupid to those of you who aren't Mormon, but all I have to say is one thing:
    I understand that we Mormons maybe different, but we are humans and we have feelings, so don't think that even though we're a different religion and we have separate views from the world, rude comments about us hurt any less.
    So I would appreciate it if everyone would PLEASE stop talking or texting crap about us, and making us feel like we're a nuisance. You think that nobody cares what your comments say, but we do.
    That's all I had to say, thank you.

      Happiness only if you fit into an extremely narrow culture set and are not: gay, black, transgendered, female, educated in archaeology/zoology/metallurgy/linguistics/history, a critical thinker, or ask questions. The Mormon church made me suicidal because of its doctrine and continues to cause the deaths of many more that succeed in their suicide attempts because they are unable to meet the impossible requirements put on them. Before you just dismiss anyone critical of your religion as the thought stopping word "anti-mormon", it may be more honest for you to listen to the objections and then look for yourself to see if it is credible. To do otherwise would just be dishonest.

      I live in Utah and I don't hate the mormons I hate what they're taught. It's a cult of hate and prejudice against any that don't follow their ways. I know mormon family's who have disowned a child for falling away or being gay and a few other reasons, That to me is disgusting and despicable human behavior. Sure, most of the museums in New Zealand have some lovely examples of the type of weapons their ancestors used. There's plenty in Tonga and Samoa too. The weapons are made out of wood, sometimes with jade or other stones used as an edge. If you kill someone with one the blood stains the wood permanently. This is why the Nephites talk about their weapons being stained with the blood of their enemies. Must have been one hell of a lucky guess that a guy in upstate New York understood that.

    So did I when I was 14. When I was 14 I lived in Salt Lake City, and that was the first time I remember someone trying to explain to me what Joseph Smith really did. I had a good friend who left the Church with his mom. When he told me about Joseph smith, I defended Joseph, and stayed in the Church. I wish I had been responsible enough at the time to learn the truth then, instead of many years later, after a mission, BYU, married in the temple, children, etc.

    I'm sorry that there was some confusion in my writing in this limited space. By "Restoration of the Priesthood", I meant the stories of angelic/resurrected beings conferring the priesthood. Joseph claimed he had authority, but made up the specific story about the laying on of hands by John the Baptist and Peter, James, & John years later, when it was expedient.

    Hope this helps all anti-Mormons
    A brief look at polygamy in the Old Testament:
    Let us look at some of the verses from the Old Testament that allow polygamy:
    In Exodus 21:10, a man can marry an infinite amount of women without any limits to how many he can marry.
    In 2 Samuel 5:13; 1 Chronicles 3:1-9, 14:3, King David had six wives and numerous concubines.
    In 1 Kings 11:3, King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.
    In 2 Chronicles 11:21, King Solomon's son Rehoboam had 18 wives and 60 concubines.
    In Deuteronomy 21:15 "If a man has two wives, and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons...."
    There are a lot more verses from the Old Testament that allow polygamy, but I think that the above are sufficient enough to prove my point.

    7 May, 1838. James G. Marsh, 14-year-old son of the president of the Quorum of Twelve, dies. The Elder's Journal issue of July notes that at age nine this boy 'had a remarkable vision, in which he talked with the Father and many of the ancient prophets face to face, and beheld the Son of God coming in his glory.' No publication at this time had yet referred to Smith's vision of the Father and the Son.

    What an easy question to answer! I would probably laugh - for it is a funny question - and reply, "Yours, of course! A baptismal service is hard to throw together over night. We have to work with the congregation to schedule it, and more importantly, we have will continue to work with you so that you are prepared to make this kind of promise with God. You just told us you want to be baptized. The whole time we have been teaching you we have been thinking and praying about you, asking God to help us know what we should do to help you follow Jesus Christ. We feel that you can be ready to make that covenant by [whatever day]. If you want to do it on that day then this plan will work perfectly. But we don't want to do it before you are ready. How do you feel about the [whatever day]?"
    Maybe they would like that day; maybe they would not. It doesn't matter really. What matters is that they know why a missionary is asking them to be baptized.
    It may sound kind of hollow online, but I would be glad to say these things in real life - because they would be true! We would be thinking and praying and pondering over the people we would teach. People can tell when you are manipulating them. They know when you are not sincere. But they also know when you truly love them and they can tell when you are asking things of them because you want them to be happy. They might not *know* that you cried on your bedside for their sakes the night before, but they can *feel* it. And it is this feeling that matters.
    So go ahead and as that question Mr. Pratt. I am not a fan of those who try to diffuse the Spirit by carefully crafted logical traps - this is not how God works.* But I suppose the missionary's answer will show well enough if they are worthy of their calling or if they are still learning why the gospel is preached.
    *Paul states beautifully what we should look for in any who claim to preach God's word: "My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power"

    If you want to join up with the Mormons, I have a suggestion-
    When the missionaries invite you to be baptized, they will say, "We are holding a baptismal service on (date). Will you prepare yourself to follow the example of Jesus Christ by being baptized on that date?" Before you say yes, don't pass up asking,"Elders would you ever lie to me?" Then ask who is being baptized at the service they said they were having on that specific date. Tell them that misleading sales tactics are still lies.

    --> is their official church upon the earth led currently by the 15 men they want/put there. There's lots of other things I know and countless things I just believe, and much of it was learned in the temple which is at least 99% about more than the mechanics you described -- which I suspect IMO is what many LDS people get from attending (the 1% repetitive, symbolic mechanics). Bored and distracted versus, as advised, alert and attentive. The temple is an incredible, wonderful place.

  • @brenttaylor1866
    @brenttaylor1866 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Washed clean and renewed every Sunday. The thing about getting personal revelation is that you then know certain things while you believe and hope to learn other things. Among the things I know is that God the Father exists, He sent His Son Jesus Christ (a very real historical person) who worked out the Atonement for us (which I don't completely understand), they both care about us (you, me, everyone else), they did indeed appear to Joseph Smith as he said they did and this, the LDS Church -->

  • @brenttaylor1866
    @brenttaylor1866 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    So you did go through the temple and make promises you've obviously not kept. Hope you're not a lawyer or a doctor being expected to maintain client/patient confidentiality; nor would I want to go into business with you. You can't keep your word. And no, it doesn't matter what you think of the temple now or of being LDS -- false or true. You took an oath. You broke it. Serious character defect.

  • @brenttaylor1866
    @brenttaylor1866 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Rather flippant synopsis. Like you said, info available on a website. Had you actually taken that oath (you didn't did you, with the whole slit your body thing?), regardless of whether you have changed your mind or no longer consider these things sacred, that would indicate you can't keep your word. That is what an oath is. My theory is regarding those who have only this cursory information to reveal, is that they never really discover what the temple is really about. God is wise that way.

    Zik689 and anyone else who is confused by our religion is welcome in our church at any time and can check out LDS.org if they have further questions. I'm only 13, but I have a strong testimony that this church is true. I know that we are all brothers and sisters in heaven, and that Jesus is our Heavenly Father's son. I also know that all the prophets are true prophets of god and that the Book of Mormon is true. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

    Please tell me.. I'm dying to know. The bible is real. And also, if there is no God, then it couldn't touch so many lives.... How come people go through a hard time but when they start praying and living life in God, everything starts getting better, and being blessed...
