That...OMG...THAT was incredibly BEAUTIFUL with ALL of the DLC guest stars like that, ending it all with Sora's trailer at the end and that handshake he had with Mario! I was also impressed when you found the part where Sephiroth flared out his wing like that from his trailer. But you ARE right: Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOO much for all of your AMAZING WORK, Sakurai! I'll be forever thankful for everything that he and his hard-working team have done to bring Ultimate to its conclusion. Plus Sakurai and Nintendo were the ones who introduced me to Sephiroth and the FF series when the fallen angel came to Ultimate in December 2020 so I thank them SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for introducing me to the one-winged angel and his home series, Final Fantasy. My favorite newcomer was DEFINITELY Sephiroth, including his EPIC reveal, hands down. Nintendo and Sakurai did a BEAUTIFUL job on his trailer, including his design and his wing and feathers even his costume choices. Sora and Kazuya's trailers were also my favorite, mainly Sora, because his reveal ultimately ended the Smash Bros. series in such a gorgeous way and KH fans all over the world were celebrating his arrival from crying tears of joy to being TRULY happy. That, especially with all of the Smash Bros. characters looking on as Mario welcomed Sora with open arms to Ultimate will be a moment I will NEVER forget. =3

This is easily one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. This video deserves to be seen a hell of a lot more, I was legit left freaking speechless by the end. Such a fantastic edit of the opening.

I still remember my first time playing smash ever. I picked it up in my old woodshop class in high school, when me and my friends just got finished watching the first smash direct, predicting potential fighters, while also playing smash flash 2. Now look, we have many iconic names and faces together in a game for the ages. But like every story, it must end. This, is that ending to one of the greatest games in history of gaming. Just hearing "Lifelight" reminds me of another song, "A World Without Danger." I think both describe World of Light very well. Hearing one song reminds me of the other. (For the record, "A World Without Danger" is the main theme to the show "Code Lyoko." Just in case anyone didn't know that.)

Good question! I had at one point tried to include all the gender variants, but it simply wasn't possible. The DLC characters took the place of either shots that weren't very interesting (space shots, generic fighting clips, etc) or characters that appeared multiple times in the opening (Mostly Galeem). I wanted to include every gender variant, but as I was editing this, I realized that the majority of the characters only show up once in this Opening. I then decided to make sure that there would only be one gender variant for every character that fell into that category. But that posed a problem for characters like Wii Fit Trainer, who only appears in that one shot where you see both male and female versions running together, as well as that really cool shot of Inkling jumping over all the other alts that I really didn't want to remove. I made sure to prioritize alts that were full blown alternate characters (Alph, Zombie, Enderman) and allow alternate genders to be on the chopping block when I needed someone to be replaced with a DLC character. Male Corrin shows up RIGHT before female Corrin in the opening, originally. So to avoid character repetition, I replaced male Corrin with Sora. As for Byleth, I chose the female variant for more female representation, as there isn't really a canonical gender for that character. Even if one is chosen for the character select screen, it's an avatar character. Whoever you chose is canonical to you and your experience, but not to the lore of the game and franchise as a whole. I know that there could've been workarounds to include every gender, such as speeding up clips or making them SUPER short, but I didn't want to do that because I wanted to make sure every character was actually visible in their appearance. Using clips that are less than half a second long would've made things hard to follow and might've been difficult to look at. I also know that other people have done edits of the opening where the full version of the Lifelight song is used. I didn't want to do that, because then the video would've been TOO long and I would've had to have pulled from all the trailers and use extensive footage from them (some of which have completely different art styles and I wanted to maintain consistency) and it would've turned into more of a trailer compilation, rather than an edited opening. My number one priority was to create an opening that was as clean and cinematic as possible. While I definitely wanted to include LITERALLY every possible version of everyone, I had to draw the line somewhere. If I had included every single gender, I would then want to include every single Villager design. And after that, what about Dark Link? What about Pikachu Libre? What about Dark Meta Knight and Galacta Knight? Even if their names don't change, don't they also count as different characters? And if they do, wouldn't Lucas' first alt be Claus? Shouldn't he be included, too? And what about characters that appear in taunts, like Morgana, Slime, Navi, Rex, etc. And then there's Final Smash characters like the Phantom Thieves, or victory pose characters like Doc Louis. And the list goes on. I hope that clears things up and I hope you enjoyed the video, despite the limitations I had. :)
