- Finland's parliament is set to vote on a bill granting border guards the power to turn back asylum seekers coming from Russia. It is expected to pass, as both the ruling right-wing coalition and many opposition lawmakers are backing it. The government has said the bill is vital to stop future arrivals, despite the law being at odds with Finland's international human rights commitments.

Deportation is removal of a person from nation and it doesn't matter wheter person who is deported, came to country legally or ilegally.
You can be deported right at the passport control even if you are just a tourist who legaly bought a trip through traveling agency, only thing which prevents that, are treaties which dictate under which terms nations are allowed to do that.
One of the terms which gives a lot of levarage to any nation, is violation of any laws, so you can be deported right at the airport, just because you commit a crime and it doesn't have to be more serious, than littering.

they speak about the formal part of the law not about the material part. They can come to EU, but 1. not through Russia (and Finland takes such asylum seekers) 2. from few thousand of the immigrants who came through Russia to FI, nobody got the positive response concerning the right for asylum. NONE (at least this is an information I got few months ago), but still some of those, who were denied for asylum “disappeared” in the EU. So nobody who came was really in need.
And many of those illegal immigrants that came from ruzzia, are already lost. Meaning finnish officials have no idea where they are. These immigration laws are a fing joke.
As much as I don't like this kind of law I think that it is needed in this case. I don't think that all the people being sent to Russia are just asylum seekers. It really looks like Russia is weaponizing asylum seekers and also using that to get their own people in to do damage.
Yeah, its a complex issue for sure. And just for clarification, this law doesn't impose a blanket ban on immigration from Russia, or some absolute power to border guards at all times. What it does is that if immigration is purposefully machinated by Russia, the government can give the border guards the right to deny entry. They can't do that all the time.
